Here are main reasons to desert and how to solve them:
Enemy team has better equipment - equipment BR MM (future update).
Enemy team has more players - more players (game release), very attractive rewards for playing for any side.
I don’t like map (its unbalanced) - map softban, real-time map data for devs, frequent small map reworks.
In lost match I’ll get less points - remove or significantly reduce win and battle heroes multipliers, significantly increase playing to win in any mode (attacking/defing points, building/destructing rallies).
Mode is boring - rework point gain to be same for attack and defense in all modes, additionally:
Assault should has invasion rules - solution is that each time it is captured, it puts 1/4 permanent capture on it
In confrontation 2 point (one for each team) should be active, so both teams can attack/defend simultaneously.
BP tasks - replace “capture n points” to “receive n objective points”, objective points are given for attacking/defending objective in any mode.
Spawned into match that already has been started - fix by only spawning players into matches that haven’t started (and give rewards to ones who want to play “hard way”)
Steam launch with big ad campaign would help with population but question is if they are going to stick for longer than just few matches. That’s up to devs to solve that issue.
If they want even bigger population they should make some kind of event that would give War Thunder vehicles by playing Enlisted and vice versa, also WT premium vehicles that you have bought should be unlocked in Enlisted → more happy customers that would like to play your game ecosystem for longer. For example i shouldn’t need to buy Calliope in Enlisted if i already have it in War Thunder, both games are owned by Gaijin they could easily merge both databases of your equipment into single one.
Destruction gamemode need to get reworked it takes too long to plan the bomb and just few secs to defuse, it’s not fair for attackers.
It’s very simple. I will leave any match, for any reason. If the game tries to punish me for this, I will find another game. Not a threat, just a prediction. Today I have a daily mission to capture a point so I am leaving any defence matches. This game does not respect my time and if it tries to make me stay in matches that I do not enjoy I will go somewhere else.
Yeah they need to really sit down and investigate WHY people are deserting, instead of just doing some dumb variation of“oh you’re locked out of MM for (X) amount of time” like R6 Siege or Overwatch. It’s bad enough you get a desertion penalty when leaving a match with tno tickets left, and they’re talking about adding even more penalties???
Main issue I have at the moment is the team imbalance. If I see (ex) 6 nameplate decos or controller icons on the other side while only having one or two on mine? Yeah, bye. Don’t need the stress. I also dip if I notice certain names, because they always run a 4-stack and always play like their family is being held hostage by ISIS and that they’ll be executed if they don’t win. Again, don’t need the stress.
Spawned into match on defense with one CP lost and the 2nd being capped. Some players on team already have > 30 kills - fix by only spawning players into matches that haven’t started
Game causes your PC to restart (sometimes just hibernate) within the first 30 seconds after joining a match (this happens to me about once a day) - this is probably not the fault of the game (though it’s the only time it happens) but a reason why more draconian punishment would potentially cause me to stop playing. If it just hibernates I can usually rejoin but it’s usually not worth it.
You get disconnected due to server issues - some days this doesn’t happen. Some days it happens in several consecutive matches. - This is not my internet but the janky servers and is treated as desertion
These are technical problems. Im not sure that playing multiplayer FPS with bad PC/connection is generally is good idea. I see only one solution: locking setup in battle, by player should always has an opportunity to reconnect. That sometimes won’t worth it, but it is better than allow deserter to abuse system by turning off wi-fi.
Direct capture like that would be far too punishing, and would result in losses for defense EVERY time.
I think the better solution is that each time it is captured, it puts 1/4 permanent capture on it, so it is easier to capture each time until its maxed out. You can still simultaneously capture both points as an option.
Again, I’m going to have to say no, because then you will jump into the exact same issue that currently exists in Assault, where everyone wants to play offense and nobody really plays defense. They will just bounce back and forth on ownership.
My suggestion for Confrontation:
Increase the amount of time that the objective is locked for at each location. This allows “attackers” a chance to get rallies up and time to cause casualties on both sides.
(Overall change to all modes) Defenders should always be allowed to see where their next objectives will be so they have a chance to fortify in advance.
If your issue is that you always want to be attacking, I suggest making sure to help establish that defensive position so that you can push out ahead and “attack” the enemy head on. Buy time for your engineers, it can be the difference between a win and a loss.

i think that slower re-cap time for defenders would do the thing, i love assault for not being meat grinder as you have two points to rush for, your suggestion would’ve made another invasion mode but slightly different.
here i also have concerns, something ain’t right, confrontation needs tweaks though.

This is how I play too, I rarely desert, but if this new matchmaking system puts me in a campaign I didn’t want to be in, I will probably play something else if I get punished for leaving.
PC is fine. Internet is fastest Comcast will sell me (very fast) and I have no issues with any other FPS or application. The reset/hibernate thing is likely some quirk of a driver and I don’t really blame Enlisted for that but the servers are awful and if you deny that then I see no sense in debating it.
