Correct the mp18 rpm

Recently @MajorMcDonalds wrote a response to another topic where he mentioned that the reason the geweher 43 chambered in 7.92 kurz was nerfed was for historical accuracy reasons, personally I appreciate the Devs wanting to present guns in Enlisted as close to their irl counterparts as possible.

Here is his exact wording:

So therefore I suggest that the Devs should also use this same approach for the mp18.

The changes to make it correct:

German training manual:

Translated to English:
IMG_20260507_211220

Link to source:German MP 18, MP34 and MP38 u. MP40 manual – fjm44

Base rpm change: 600 :arrow_right: 400-500 (according to secondary sources paid manuals give this range of rpm)

BR of mp18: br2 :arrow_right: br1

After these changes it should play like the mp34ö because the base rpm of that gun is currently 450rpm.

Yes please. Germany got too many BR2 smgs anyways…

This’ll get taken down without a proper source
Oh yeah, and as far as I know it used to be 500 bpm untill the MP-28 got buffed

I’ve added a pic from Wikipedia that should be enough.

I think this was a case of conflicting sources.

Even within Wikipepia there are diffrent numbers given for its fire rate depending on the language.
English:
approx. 350–500 rounds/min (MP 18)
550–600 rounds/min (MP 28/II)
German:
400 bis 450 Schuss/min
Russian:
600 RPM

So unless you find a proper citation just quoting wiki probably isnt enough.

Where can I find the russian source that claims it had 600rpm?

grafik
Just switch to the russian wikipage and in the main table it will be there.
Sadly none of the wikis have citations attached to the numbers directly.

I’ve found a primary source that I’ve put in the main post, it’s from a German training manual there were a few others but they cost money. The German’s own training manual should be more accurate than any russian acount so that’s the source I’ll go with.

  • MKb42 (15) actually uses a 10 rnd magazine with 5 extra bullets stored in the magical aether realm
  • tells @Euthymia07-live that the magazine cannot hold 15 rounds and if it’ll be corrected
  • “no”

its pretty obvious anyway, just compare the two Mkb42 rifles and the 10rnd magazine is clearly around 1/3 of the size of the regular magazine and not 1/2 of it

but yes, you’re mistaken if you think they care about presenting guns in an accurate manner

I know that the Devs have left lots of incorrect guns unchanged despite knowing about them, but I’m just trying to hold major McDonald’s to his word.

No thank you. I enjoy the weapon as is in BR2. However without engi + smg i suppose more fitting to BR1. I definitely feel more willing to use it how it is now it feels great.

People tried to get Gaijin to drop the MP18 to BR1 before they buffed it, and the Dev’s ignored us, like they will do with this post as well. The MP18 should have been BR1 from the start. If the Dev’s nerfed it back to it’s original numbers and dropped the FNAB to BR1 where it should be with it’s current ROF, I might actually be able to start building a BR1 German lineup. The FNAB would be a great SMG if it didn’t have it’s ROF set in Snail mode.

At this point, I am fine with the MP18 as is, but hate that they leave the FNAB in disappointmentville.

Germany already has the MP 34 and MP 3008 with that rate of fire. Personally, I bought this squad solely for its fire rate and BR. Leave it as it is, and that would be the best solution.

And all of them are still worse than the PPS-43, let alone the PPS-43 with a cuirass, lol.

I don’t think the firing rate should be reduced. This cheap gold weapon is the best and most affordable option for new players to quickly unlock their tech tree. If you weaken it, no new player will be willing to pay for it

The mp18 used to have the correct rpm and many people bought it because of that so the correct solution would be to represent the mp18 accurately instead of giving it a fictional rpm.

Germany doesn’t have a br1 premium assulter squad the mp18 could fill that niche, players will buy it if the mp18 is br1. And the erma emp will still be a br2 squad for anyone who still wants a br2 premium assulter squad.

Playability is more important than historical accuracy. The MP 34, MP 3008, and FNAB are already barely playable because of their low fire rate, and making a weapon trash for the sake of historical accuracy is nonsense.

Dude, German BR 1 and 2 simply don’t exist)))
It’s all a one-way trip - suffering against Soviets with PPS and VF or KV-1 and Uragan. Trying to capture something there, I don’t even know for what reason, is a pretty questionable idea.
BR 2 is at least somewhat playable thanks to the MKb-35, Lahti-Saloranta, and some premiums. In other cases, there’s just nothing to do there.

The mp18 would still be playable with a low rpm at br1. What’s the point of it being called the mp18 if doesn’t resemble the mp18 in the slightest.

This is all your opinion, I’ve had lots of success playing low tier Germany. Besides lowering the mp18 to br1 will help the Germans out.

The fire rate of the MP 18 ruins the whole game experience, yeeeah, that’s the biggest problem))
There are way more serious discrepancies and the MP 18 is dead last there. Also, different sources give different fire rates for it, up to 350 RPM, which is slightly better than semi-auto rifles and worse than the M1 Carbine and VG 1-5. Even the MP 34 and MP 3008 are awful because of their fire rate, and you’re suggesting making yet another crippled pea-shooter. Try playing with the PPD-34 - now that’s where you feel the power. All these others are just junk.

That’ll help about as much as a poultice on a dead man. On BR1 there are already two absolutely identical SMGs, and before the changes the MP-18 was barely any different from them. The only German BRs that are somewhat playable are BR3 - after the VG 1-5 buff and the KE-7 being added - and BR5 seems roughly on par, I guess. I’m saying this as someone who was grinding to BR5 in 2024 while stuck at BR2 - there’s nothing to be gained there. I think I have enough gaming experience to discuss these things. Your attempts to lead me to the idea that I’m not competent don’t hold water.

Fits right into BR2 premium assaulter lineup.

Literally proving my point, it wouldn’t hurt the Germans to loose a br2 assault squad and gain a br1 assulter squad. Especially since you only need 3 to cycle.
