This weapon is a Chinese-made copy of the German MP-18 submachine gun. During the Soviet offensive in Manchuria—the “August Storm”—Manchukuo troops, alongside remnants of the Kwantung Army, engaged Soviet forces. The campaign ended quickly, and the entire region fell under Soviet control, but this SMG was indeed used by Manchukuo units.
- Caliber: 9×19mm Parabellum (original MP-18); Chinese copies were often chambered in 7.63×25mm Mauser
- Overall Length: Approximately 815 mm
- Weight: Around 4.17 kg (unloaded)
- Feed System: 20- or 32-round box magazine; early MP-18 models also used a 32-round snail drum magazine
- Rate of Fire: About 400 rounds per minute
- Action: Straight blowback, open-bolt
- Origin: German design (Bergmann MP-18), later produced locally in China by several arsenals including Dagu Arsenal
Unlike many Japanese firearms—which were relatively few in variety and often appear in games as prototype or limited-issue weapons—this MP-18 copy was widely circulated among Chinese warlords and saw extensive real-world service. Since Manchukuo was effectively a Japanese puppet state, including this gun in the game provides both historical authenticity and practical variety to the Japanese/Manchukuo arsenal.
