Changes to the MG-81 (lower the rate of fire)

:white_check_mark: weapon type:

MG-81

:white_check_mark: BR:

BattleRating V

:white_check_mark: suggested changes:

increasing the ROF to 1,500

:white_check_mark: reason:

Historical documents stating that the ROF was at 1,500.

:white_check_mark: proofs:

telling that it got converted for ground use
grafik

stating that a ROF of 800 was the norm

stating thast the MG-81 had a max. ROF of 1,200 as infantry weapon

:white_check_mark: final statement:

I ask you (Gaijin) to make changes to the ROF to that it has either a ROF of 1,000 or 1,200. In my opinion this small “showcase” has shown, that the actual ROF of 1,760 ingame is not correct because these are the stats for being a defensive weapon in aircrafts but not for ground attack

Do you have a historical document stating that it had a lower rate of fire? Your second source is kind of confusing considering that, to my knowledge, the Mg-81 was never used as a coax machine gun.

Have you watched the video? He is also telling you that ROF got lowered (telling you at 2:10)

Try this @GetOut0fMyWay @CapitalLen :

“Ultimately, towards the end of the war, the weapon, even with a shoulder stock and light bipod and corresponding ground sights, was still in use as a ground machine gun with a rate of fire reduced to approximately 1,200 rounds/min by SS and special units.”

Sadly, the plentitude of documents that this article is written with as sources (and links to/shares) is no longer being maintained (duh, this is the WaybackMachine, not everything ever has been saved). So further investigation is required.

At least, what this article proves is that there are sources out there, we just need to dig them up again, so we can know for sure.

This change wouldn’t make gameplay any more interesting. Quite the opposite, it would only kill off the uniqueness of the weapon. So no, thanks.

1200 RoF (before upgrades, 1400 after) with 100-round belt isn’t unique…?

Not that it matters, RoF in game is based on real world numbers.

Of course it would. Why is the MG-81 currently so rare in battles on BR V? Because it’s completely uncontrollable. Not seeing it because of that is kinda unique - true.

Do you ever think a few steps ahead instead of blindly rejecting every suggestion here in the forum just because it doesn’t suit you personally?

Nope, very similar rof to MG39 and MG15.

Its current state is much more interesting and unique. I hate when people try to push changes to gameplay only based on some very dubious historical “facts”.

MG 39 is a premium weapon in BR IV with only a 50 round belt and sligly lower rate of fire.

MG 15 is the same BR, but is midway between a full 100 belt and only 50 rounds, but still has slightly lower RoF. The MG 15 should trade lower RoF and ammo count for faster reloads. Just reduce the reload speed of the MG 15 to compensate, and now you have two different playstyles (reliable bullet hose vs sustained fire MG).

Well, once further research has been done and we know for certain, I’m glad that you’ll immedietly change your tune then.

*Event I think you confused it with the MG45

Oh, right!

Well, the MG 45 has basicly the same fire rate as the current MG 81 does, so that’s just another tick in the box…

MG45(1650) should be 1800 and MG81(1760)

Well, if we had better sources on the matter of the ground configuration MG 81 then I would be more zealous on the topic, but we don’t right now.

I’m just voting yet for the moment, so that it’ll at least be considered by the devs, maybe they’ll look into the matter more thoroughly (I sincerily hope that they got researchers on board for these sorts of things… I would actually like it if they released the documentation they’re using when making weapons, I’d like to read it just for fun…).

From what I understand, the configuration wasn’t standard, as they simply took the MG81 and didn’t make any changes, even though its high rate of fire was very good for… Stop the Soviets

Although I have seen that they mark 1200 for infantry use, there is also what I mentioned above. In my case, I like the MG81 just the way it is now; it’s my favorite machine gun.Since the MG42 is badly broken and needs more than just an increased rate of fire
