Change the PP Shpitalniy 1943 from an SMG to a pistol

The recent BP weapon, the PP Shpitalniy 1943, currently doesn’t really have a place in the game. It’s just yet another Soviet BR2 SMG but with noticeably worse performance than its competition. Its main drawback is its damage falloff, limiting its range drastically, even more so than some pistols.

Compared to the Yazikov, the damage falloff is even more apparent. But at the same time it is a noticeable upgrade to any of the other sidearms in the game thanks to its 35 round magazine.

I think it should have its weapon classification changed, just like the Artillery Luger, to become a pistol. But at the same time it should be locked to BR2 or even moved up to BR3, which would further distinguish it from other sidearms.

I vote NO, let it be like that

No, because then we would get BRs for pistols.
At best, split them from semis.

Let it be like what? Another BR2 Soviet SMG just with one of the worst damage falloffs in the game?

Other then the larger magazine it is worse then the Yazikov smg pistol. For myself as a true SMG it is worthless, so I only use it as my pilots backup weapon which means it will never be used. If it were possible (probably not historically) then it should have the magazine cut to 15 rounds and made a pistol. I used it once in battle when I got my first one and thought it was cool, till I realized that unless the enemy is in the same small room as you, it takes almost an entire magazine to kill someone. I think my initial review of this weapon when it came out was that beyond 10 meters you might as well just be throwing rocks at the enemy. Just my two cents worth on something Gaijin is not going to change anyway.

As it currently is configured, why would anyone want to use it over the PPS-42 or PPS-43? I wouldn’t even use it over the PPD-34. :joy: So, in that aspect something needs done to the weapon.

That’s the main reason I think it should be a pistol, the damage falloff makes it worthless unless you’re barrel stuffing

Yeah, the moment I figured out it took an entire magazine to kill someone I realized it was worthless. :joy:

Its fine as is ,youre just all using it wrong. Its the PERFECT Tanker SMG. When you are in a tank, using your SMG is usually for when enemies are rushing your tank to Dynamite it or TNT.

Which means they are close range, and when you shoot from turret hatch, or jump out of tank to kill them or repair the tank, its amazing at defense. Especially for the Ai .Iv seen Ai wipe gorilla squads while im repairing with that SMG.

Its a niche Tanker SMG. Put it with your best tank squad. T34, KV1 ect…

Why would I put it on a T-34 or KV-1 squad when I could put a PPSH box mag on them instead.

Also maybe it’s just me but I rarely ever peak my head out to use an SMG, typically being situationally aware and backing up while using HE does the trick.

Not to mention that once you’re too the point of getting rushed by infantry to the degree that trying to use the commander’s SMG is worthwhile, chances are you’ve already gotten enough value out of your tank that you’re better off dying and switch squads, or just ditching and using your crew like an assault squad.

Furthermore, if you ditch then you’re back to square one because instead of preparing your tankers like assaulters, you gave them an SMG with the worst damage falloff in the game instead of a PPS-43.
