Change Off-Road Vehicles' "Driver I" Squad to "Rider II" Squad

Currently, there is a discrepancy between the class types and squad roles between Rider and Driver classes. While the Rider class is exclusively for mobile infantry, and the Driver II class fills the role of a mobile spawn point, the new Off-Road vehicles sit in a class that aligns with the mobile spawn point “APC” class, but fills the same role (and even loadout/preset limitations) as the Rider class. This creates the following problems:

  • New (and Experienced) players will get confused about the roles of these vehicles when compared directly to each other, as there is no consistency between squad type and squad role.

  • Adding future Rider or Driver classes is impeded by the existing classes and their inconsistency. For example, adding more APCs in the tech tree would be limited to Driver III, and couldn’t be added in a “Driver I” class that already exists.

With that in mind, the “Driver I” squad should be a Rider II squad. Here are the reasons why:

  • Aside from a potentially different default perk, Rider soldiers have access to the same driving-related perks as Drivers.
  • All “Mobile Infantry” squads will fall under the same category of “Rider” class squads.
  • All “Mobile Spawn Point” squads will fall under the same category of “Driver” class squads.
  • Future additions to either squad type will allow consistency and flexibility.
  • Less confusion and more clarity as to which squad type fills which role.
  • In the “Loadout/Preset” page, “Rider” and “Driver I” vehicles are limited within the same category of maximum squads, represented by the “Rider” class symbol. This change places them all under one class (see below):

Rider and Driver Class 02

Should The “Driver I” Class Be Converted To The “Rider II” Class?

You “drive” a jeep, you ride a motorbike, it’s fine as is IMO.
What they could use is a bigger squad +1 or 2.
(edit) we should be able to bring more than 2 though.

still boggles my mind that i can run with 5 apcs or tanks or airplanes,

but i cant run with 2 bikes, 2 of-road vehicles and others infantry squads only in the same preset…

either way, the categorization is all over the place for no good reason.

though i’m not sure you can really fix the inconsitencies.

cause were made before hand.

like the 221 reconissance car being considered a tank.

… but a literal tank destroy is considered an apc :skull:

I believe that the main reason why the “off-road squad” is not categorised as a rider squad is because if it was a rider squad, the base soldier would be the rider instead of 1 driver and infantry (riflemen soldiers).
Now, that would not be a big issue with jeeps as they are limited to 4 soldiers, but when we get (and we probably will get more) vehicles like the AS42 that can fit up to 5 soldiers or even more, than 5-6 riders could potentially be unbalanced as they can all equip SMGs, ARs, semi-auto rifles…

There’s nothing illogical about that. APCs, planes, and tanks are effective and useful squads, while bikes and cars are underpowered, gimmicky filller squads meant just for fun.

So the limitation that prevents you from sabotaging your own team on a totally irrational scale makes sense. Same goes for partisans that are forces to use only one specific slot.

says who?

you?

that’s completly nonsense and irrelevant.

cause A, you only have one saboteur squad. and only one actually exists
and two, it uses a event / prem slot not even normal slots.

which is… pretty much a bug.
but still irrelevant to this topic

And who would you want to say that? Some kind of “Enlisted Super God” authority that decides what can and can’t be said?

Nope, that’s intentional feature.

weren’t you the one asking for official answers and sources most of the times, yet is anyone expected to take you for granted?

mhhhhh.

sounds more like a personal opinion than anything.
which to each their own

still illogical ( and probably ) and oversight if anything.

after all, before the update, you were able to run with 3 bikes as long you had more than 3 slots.

THAT was the limitation.
having enough bought for gold slots.

you made that one too?

Obviously it’s only my personal opinion.

well, seems only fair to rapy the favor then!
since we’re exchanging opinions.

i, on the other hand, disagree.

and find riders / off-road vehicles more effective and versatile for how i use them than the sluggish and slow tanks/airplanes.

cause airplanes and tanks cant place down rally points.

as long a rally is placed, is way more effective than a airplane player whom spawns chat commands for 90% of the game and barely racks up 30 kills in half an hour.

even though i enjoy all vehicles in enlisted,
i prefer riders and off road ones over the others.

Are you seriously discussing the usefulness of this garbage?

someone’s garbage is someone elses gold

… but if you can’t figure out a way to use them, maybe those are not for you.

I swear, the dumbest arguments are always either between two newbies or the most seasoned veterans on the forum.

For what? For flanking? Literally any infantry squad can flank more effectively.
Why? Because they can’t be marked.
It takes one bored pilot spamming marking button for every enemies to know your exact position. The last thing you want when flanking. And you can’t even tell whether you are marked or not.

Other vehicles have completely different roles. They’re not used for flanking. But they’re way more effective in their intended roles.

I tried to use them, they are very situational machines.
In the Berlin chancellery, they can be brought into the corridors as firing points, as well as APC
Otherwise, I was able to just drive quickly to the flank and set up a gathering point, and that’s all I needed from the squad.

  • mobile mg nest ( sometimes up to 150 /250 rounds )
  • radioman ability but on a dial speed
  • can go inside buildings
  • flanking and/or ambushing
  • securing friendly paras landing
  • place down rally
  • excellent clearing points units with 10 additional nades.
  • cap obj in conquest more easily ( though, only the ge squad or any car with more than 3 troopers really benefits )

i didn’t expected to be actually good.
premium ones are even better because you can set up stuff

the smooth rides, the speed and the utility from the base classes is actually great.

with that being said, as we pointed out, it can be, and should be better under several aspects.

that goes for pretty much all vehicles.
it’s not unique to bikes or cars?

everything is effective in it’s indended role.
so are cars and bikes depending on how you use them.

high capacity machineguns are great too.
literally they serve several tactics and purpouse.

a high risk high reward class.

cause trading one car for several enemies apcs is well worthed in a match.

Japan and German be like :joy::joy::joy:

No)

The other vehicles are not relying on flanking.

With all that random rubble, rails, clutter, and other random junk on the maps, it’s much smoother to just run over it than to try to ride around it.

Literally, on most maps, you won’t even hit top speed.

They’re not good enough.

Majority of infantry squads can have it.

Do not compare cars/bikes to other vehicles. They do completely different stuff with completely different intented roles. Nobody is using bikes/cars the same way they use other vehicles.
You should be comparing them to infantry squads. Because they eventually do the same stuff. And compared to them, car/bikes are the way less effective option.
Complete meaningless concept for gameplay of Enlisted. They’re not effective enough in their intended role. Unlike other vehicles.

that’s just false.

but if that is what you do, and your opinion.

sure i suppose.

but ANY vehicle will require to flank.

pretty much ALL japanese vehicles.
all american and german mid tier vehicles requires to flank in order to take out other tanks.

speed isnt just about top speed.

but accelleration and turn speed as well.

far superior than most sluggish vehicles in enlisted.
but the driver also aid with that.

which, if you lack traverse skill ( which it’s still required with some tanks to some extent ) that’s hardly the vehicles fault.

… which you can still run most objects over with at least a 20 khm speed.

same as tanks.

so again, wrong.

they’re exceelent, actually.

sure, but they can be used to reposition even better with your car and offer more support rather than just raw anti infantry support.

that’s what you are saying.

i’m literally pointing out that they are different and can cover a multitude of rules.

that’s wrong on so many levels.

because they are not an infantry squad.

they are a motorized squad.

not the same thing…

talk about comparing apples with oranges lol.

but let’s coincive the notion.
thing is, cars can actively bring more squads through said rally point.
at a speed that others simply cannot.

or reposition around.

we’re trading potentially 2/6 specialist for mobility
and aid to the battlefield with more rally points.

if rally points weren’t a thing, arguably cars would be more useful but.
they can still pull their weight IF the user knows how to properly use them and use tactics for once.

cause rushing the point and dying sounds a skill issue rather than the vehicle it self.

that’s just your opinion though.
which often does not compare to reality.

… still out of topic though.

there’s plenty of options though.
that can later be introduced.

but beside the point.
