Buff the Beretta M38A 40

With the current standard of BR 3 SMG, I think that Beretta M38A with 40 rnds mag really falls behind in terms of DPS especially now that the ZK-383 and MP-35/ gotten the buff and performing decently since. Even compared to SMG on BR 2 this gun isn’t that much better.

The said examples of BR 2 SMG :

So i propose a buff for M38A 40 rnds mag. Since the RoF is historical AFAIK, i think we should make it better by make it more accurate and potentially also make it reloads faster.

So i think it should buffed with the following changes :
Dispersion from 65 to 50(When fully upgraded)
Reload speed from 2.6 to 2.1(When fully upgraded)

So that the M38A 40 rnds mag should be acting like the versatile SMG that falls behind in terms of raw DPS by other SMG on the same BR but it’s more accurate, easier to use SMG.

Also, these buff shouldn’t be applied to M38A with 20 rnds mag and only exclusive to M38A with 40 rnds mag on BR 3. I think that gun is already more than decent on BR 1.

There’s no completely useless poll, but isn’t the beretta already very accurate and stable? I don’t think it could be buffed much more, lest it starts having unrealistic soviet standards stats

It is stable in the recoil part but the dispersion value is actually not that good. ZK-383 which is the same BR3 SMG, is actually more accurate than M38A by having 53 dispersion value when fully upgraded whereas M38A sits at 65 dispersion value when fully upgraded. IMO M38A 40 rnds mag should be at least more accurate than ZK-383 if it falls behind the DPS part.

I’d argue that specific SMG in particular is a good staple for BR3 - rather I would nerf top performing BR3 SMGs a bit instead.

“If this gun gets buffed, I hope the Lanchester 50 gets buffed too.”

No, Put OG-44 and M38/42 to BR3 instead.

The power creep in lower BRs is insane. Compared to right after post merge.

I think the Beretta is already a good SMG, and I don’t see a reason to buff it at the moment

Pure DPS isn’t the only thing that matters. The Beretta already is a very nice SMG at BR3. It’s extremely controllable, accurate and good for sustained fire.

Except that it isn’t actually accurate nor good at sustained fire. 65 dispersion value and 2.6 seconds reload speed means it’s quite slow and inaccurate for BR 3 SMG. People thinks it’s stable and accurate only because it has the stable recoil that’s about it.

Except it is. The MP35/I with 750 RPM and a 32 round mag gives you 2.56 seconds of continued fire, the ZK-383 with 810 RPM and a 30 round mag gives you 2.2 seconds of continued fire and the Beretta with 690 RPM and a 40 round mag gives you 3.478 seconds of continued fire. That’s a significant difference between them. Combined with it’s stable recoil, a significant advantage you just ignored, it continues to be a good choice at BR3 for an Axis SMG.

Okay so let’s do some math here since we are talking about the sustained fire.

ZK-383
Time to empty 30 rounds: (30 ÷ 810) × 60 = 2.22 seconds
Total cycle time (fire + reload): 2.22 + 2.5 = 4.72 seconds
Bullets per minute: (30 ÷ 4.72) × 60 ≈ 425 rounds

M38A with 40 rnds mag
Time to empty 40 rounds: (40 ÷ 690) × 60 = 3.48 seconds
Total cycle time (fire + reload): 3.48 + 2.6 = 6.08 seconds
Bullets per minute: (40 ÷ 6.08) × 60 ≈ 347 rounds

So, ZK-383 ended up firing 425 bullets per minute while M38A with 40 rnds mag firing only 347 bullets per minute.

Also i think you have a strange concept about this whole sustained fire thing. In enlisted, low RoF acts as a direct disadvantages rather than being advantages unless said RoF is extreme amount. We don’t claim guns like Bren gun with 100 rnds mag and Browning 1919A6 etc etc are good because they are good at “sustained fire”. Rather, they are considered as terrible guns because of their low RoF. This is especially true for SMG as low damage per bullet has to be covered with good RoF thus giving them much shorter TTK. There’s a good reason that the guns like MP-41(r) and PPSH-41(Box)etc are praised meanwhile guns with relatively low RoF are considered as bad guns rarely if never used by good players even when they have sizable +50 rnds large magazines.

And where are you getting those 425 bullets? With ammo bags you’re getting 300 rounds. You’re not getting a minute of sustained fire, you’re getting 42.3 seconds. The Beretta gets 320 rounds. With that you’re getting 55.3 seconds of sustained fire. You’re getting more time firing the gun with the Beretta.

I put a minute in there for comparison. Could be 30 seconds or whatever for all i care. Also just because the gun can fire bullets “longer” does not mean that it fires more bullets than other gun for the same amount of time. I already explained this in how RoF differences affects the gun performances, i don’t think that explaining this further is really necessary.

And the Beretta vey much does fire more bullets. You get more bullets when using the Beretta.

Math tells me it’s literally not tho. Just because it has more ammo in the magazine does not mean that it’s good at sustained fire. Especially so for SMG.

Also IIRC ZK-383 gets pretty much same total amount of ammo as well, 30/210 with M38A 40 gets 40/200 for large ammo pouch.

Those numbers are wrong no matter what pouch you use and if you use none at all. The ZK-383 gets 30/120 without a pouch, 30/150 with a small pouch and 30/270 with a large pouch. The Beretta gets 40/120 without a pouch, 40/160 with a small pouch and 40/280 with a large pouch. When using a pouch it always gets 20 rounds more.

Is it? I’m outside so i can’t really check rn. I’ll check later then you could be right about this.

I am right about it. I literally looked in game.

I would rather see the FNAB buffed so it at least can be competitive in BR2. No huge buff, just put it somewhere in the mid 600’s when maxed. Otherwise drop it to BR1. It’s a Grease gun without the hit power.

I may be crazy, but I enjoy FNAB as it is. I just realize it’s not a CQC weapon and don’t use it that way if I have a choice.
