Most assault rifles are rather mid when it comes to their accuracy, because they are just a tiny bit more accurate than SMGs. The Fedorov Avtomat puts pretty much all ARs to shame when it
comes to that, and I think that should be changed.
To make them more fun to use and competitive against SFs like the FG 42 II, T20 etc., every assault rifle that currently has a dispersion value of over 0.4 (unupgraded) should be buffed to be between 0.3 - 0.4 (unupgraded) .
I think the main issue is that select fires are too dominant. I think there should be a reserve ammo nerf to the T20, FG-42, and AVT-40 in order to encourage players to not use full auto in building.
I have though often about nerfing SFR, cuz they not only seem to be better than AR because they are not limited to assaulters - but the jump from BR4 semis to BR5 SFR is the biggest performance jump in the entire game.
I played with the idea of them getting a damage nerf to have the same damage as MGs - but I kinda like the one hit kill battle rifle style gameplay.
So buffing ARs seems very logical - especially since semi auto dispersion is getting buffed.
I think select fires are one of the main problems with BR5 compression, the jump from 4 to 5 is really a jump from 4 to 6. That along with how dominant select fires are in BR5 makes BR4 a grueling experience for most players
Even with stat buff, SFs are still vastly superior to the point I would take drum SMGs over ARs since they are at least faster and have more bullets.
Since class nerf doesnt work anymore, they should just increase recoil to force users to use burst mode or semi-auto. After all, it makes sence that they deal more damage and are “more” accurate, but should also have notable worse recoil.
ARs should serve as middle ground between SMGs and rifles.
Which would be realistic, FG42 was famously easy to controll for a full power rifle - because of the buffer tube recoil spiring and effective muzzle break combined with the overall mass of the bolt being very low and close to the shooters hand (physics are interesting) - this system was even later copied by the US and is still being used in the form of the M60…
BUT FG42 comparably being easy to controll does not mean you would ever use it in full auto unless on a bipod.
All select fire rifles should get semi auto accuracy, but in return should get their recoil doubled or something. Full auto should only be viable in super close range.
