Ok, I checked and double checked, most revolvers, that are present in game, do not offer better bullet momentum than semi-automatic pistols of the same caliber. But truth be told, we all know that damage is a balance thing now. And the slow weapon gotta be powerful.
All handguns are too weak in game to be realistic. I would love them all to be buffed. But it gets real nasty with revolvers.
In reality, even a single M1895 Nagant bullet in your body is enough. It may be lacking in velocity and penetration, but it’s blunt, kinda heavy and still got its stopping power and damage. No matter how weak it is on paper, it is good enough to kill. We should not have these weapons portrayed as the spitball straws.
M1895 Nagant should have 7.0 damage, Webley .38 should have 7.2, and .45 revolvers are good enough to have full 8.0.
After all, “Liberator” was already buffed to 7.2 in the past, whereas other weapons of the caliber have 6.5 now. And it is still useless. One could buff Liberator too BTW.
The game is long past the point where damage was caliber-based. Ever since SVT-38 round does half the damage of Mosin-Nagant, we are talking game balance only.
One could buff ALL handgun’s damage by 20-30%, and make them different BR-wise.
So it would be revolvers and small pistols only, for BR I-II, and full size semi-autos go to BR III. Cause these are formidable weapons now.
I really kinda resent the fact that pistols only really matter at BR I now, and there are only 1-2 meta pistols per faction, despite the fact we have so many beautiful guns in game’s assets.
And what can be even more interesting for devs, they could make decorated and exotic pistols a commercial interest.
Yeah, i was surprised to learn that all pistols are available at BR1. Some are just clearly better than others, making most of them completely useless.
Same with the backpacks. Unlocking the best ones by getting to research tier 3 seems a bit silly, they should just be BR2 and BR3+ items.
I would be alright if they just gave the nagant a half or so second reload buff and some dispersion. It’s good for headshots but helmets make it harder to kill sometimes.
As for the other weapons a few of them are exceptionally weak and serve zero purpose in-game. Meanwhile we have numerous good sidearms that are sidelined to events only. Best course of action would be to buff the underperforming weapons, they don’t have to be laser beams or one taps. They just have to be able to reliably have a chance at killing someone with that sidearm. The only time I’ve ever gotten a drop on someone with a sidearm is when their back is turned to me and I start firing at them before they turn around. By the time they fully turn around I’ve dumped at least half the magazine into them point blank, And in the off chance those few rounds don’t make the difference i usually get cut down by a bolt action or an SMG either because the damage was too low or the dispersion was too great. Sidearms are meant to be self-defense weapons, and most of the time they fail at doing that.
Seen those on Kentucky Ballistics and Jerry Miculek (with 2) came out 2012, but who needs to know?
Honestly though I think a 1911 in each hand is a bit cooler IMO.
(edit):
My suggestion is outright buffing the damage of all sidearms and dispersing them BR wise. If we are aiming for realistic feel, pistol should be a deadly but inaccurate weapon.
And, well, dual wielding is going to make game look silly. Whereas double barrel guns I fully support.
Yeah, they are too low value in game. It was not always so easy like that. In campaign era, you’d unlock pistols over the course of the game.
I think walther P38 was availiable at stage 10 of Tunisia, and Luger at 15. Which was pretty high. Back then, I had a really big stash of small pistols like Walther PPK, and I felt rich when I got my hands on advanced guns. Those were the times.
Now, the pistols have even less magic. I don’t really play BR I often. Despite I am a pistol fanboy and I had 30 hours speed-assemblig them in World of Guns. I can’t get to use them in this game.
Even Walther or TT feels bleak on BR I when you got soldiers with Yazikovs, Colt Schwartz, Voevodin on same BR. It almost feels unfair to use those against noobs.
That’s the main reason why I said all of the tech tree sidearms are exceptionally weak, damage buffs would go a long way. A few of them could also use reload or dispersion tweaks. This way all sidearms fall into a viable category. The reason why I brought up the nagant revolver was because it suffers from multiple things that need to be fixed. But we also have other weapons that are low rate of fire but exceptionally accurate, issue with those is damage. That’s the whole reason I said sidearms were meant to be a defense weapon and they failed at doing their purpose. They’re not meant to excel and be used like a primary weapon, they’re meant to be used between 5 to 15 m. Usually after a soldier’s primary weapon is actively out of ammo and needs a reload, prompting them to switch to the sidearm since it’s faster.
Nah but as 1x Event Reward some dual Revolvers would be funny
after that bad America is great 100 years Event or whatever, that would have been the best reward for them…
