Recently, I wrote a topic about a Japanese 20 mm autocannon that has a good potential to be added in game. However, as a new type of weapon(portable large caliber machine gun), finding a balanced implementation for it will be an issue.
So today I am going to take another example for the Allies, and focus on how to add this kind of weapon suitable in game.
The Allies could get the BSA Model 1924 as their portable large caliber machine gun. It was intended as an aircraft machine gun, this gun was rejected by RAF due to its slow-firing and having small capacity, only three of them were made.
The No.2 variant has a unique trigger position, it has two triggers and charge handles on both side of the gun.
Unlike the Lewis gun , it use long-recoil mechanism. The barrel and bolt carrier recoiled back upon firing until the bolt carrier would hit a stop while the barrel would reciprocate back into its original position.
The empty casing would then eject under the gun while the bolt carrier was held back and then the carrier would be allowed to return forward when a new round was chambered.
Ejection port

- Total length:147.3 cm(without wooden stock)
- Barrel length:96.5 cm
- Weight:23.2 kg
- Muzzle velocity: 790m/s
- ROF:400 rounds/min
- Ammo capacity: 37 round drum magazine
- Available belts(12.7×81mmSR)

To add this weapon useful in the game , I suggest that we use the model of No.1 variant and use the side trigger of No.2.

As I mentioned earlier, since this is a new type of weapon, there are several issues we need to discuss. Given that it is a one-shot-kill machine gun capable of destroying light armored vehicles, it seems that it could potentially be used by both machine gunner and anti-tank gunners(secondary weapon).
To balance this weapon, we might need to restrict it to the prone position only, even though it weighs only slightly more than the PTRS-41 (20.3 kg), or nerf it’s damage just like the AA guns.
Finally, we need to determine a suitable Battle Rating (BR) for this weapon.
