Looking at footage of the Brixia being fired, and 8-10 RoF provided by @SdKfz173DW-live, it’s safe to say that the Brixia/AG-2 comparison is not valid.
The AG-2 does direct automatic fire with HE, the Brixia is a lever operated mortar, still meant to preform indirect fire, it is functionally identical to the other TT mortars. It trades a marginal increase in RoF (not the best for a mortar with limited ammunition, shooting blindly) for less explosive power. The lever-action + magazine does appear to at best give it a marginal rate of fire increase, but I doubt the effective RoF (drawn out engagement, time for reloading included) is anything else but equal (this thing would have to be reloaded I imagine, whereas you can just continue to drop rounds with a conventional mortar, switching ammo type would take time too, assuming this thing could also fire smoke). Operating a lever is at best also marginaly faster than dropping loose rounds down the barrel, this is no burst fire or automatic beast, it’s still limited by human hands.
In short, this is a normal mortar with a slight twist, comparing it to the AG-2 is unfair and incorrect, and it’s definetly TT material.
Ok, event.
No, Italy deserve TT mortars of their own, this was their standard one during the war, they should definetly have it in the tech tree.
If it is for a separate Italy, then I agree. Maybe.
That’s unlikely to happen sadly with the current player numbers.
Italy and Germany (just like US and the Commonwealth) are united due to necessity, it’s a compromise. But that compromise should still come with everything nessesary to make a full subfaction functional, full 1-1 paraty is unrealistic (and undesireable), but when we’ve effectively only got one choice for low and high BR mortars for one faction, making them event-walled or pay-walled just shouldn’t be an option.
If this compromise isn’t kept, calls for full seperation will continue, better give everyone what they want, fully functional Italy does not have to mean fully seperate.
well,
this works more like an ampulomet that the soviets currently have.
not quite as fast as the soviet premium one,
but it’s similar as it can hold more than 1 rounds and fire in sequence.
other characteristics based on this video narrator:
-
can work between 100 and 500 meters
-
has single & multiple firing & loading modes
-
20m radius of explosion
-
RPM of 30
so, it could be a counterpart of the soviet one, but a worse one at that.
That’s taking all real world stats directly into the game, which the game currently does not do with any mortar…
Yeah but besides the Italian 81 mm mortar, this is kinda all they have.
indeed.
i wouldn’t be opposed to the italian 81 mm as an event mortar. like the m2 used to be before they introduced it for everyone in the TT.
but the one in this topic is more of a event / premium material.
especially since it’s italian.
although i suppose never say never.
since it wasn’t as rare as most other italian event/premium items.
( but then again the " criteria " for what is “worthy” of being premium or event or tt is all over the place )
I like the sound of it. From now on, I’ll only call the ampulomet by that name
I resent this attitude, Italy deserves stuff too!
nah it’s me being R[edacted]
well, take it with the devs i’m afraid.
both the uk and italy have been the " premium " & event material for most squads or items.
And we should work towards changing that!
it’s a slippery slope.
because you’d then have another situation like the chi-ha or stug III being behind premium despite being more common than many others.
or start having more “pay to win” premiums.
in all honesty, i much rather have said units that are sidegrades and balanced for money rather than the opposite.
I can’t speak for Italy, I don’t know what fun things they had going for them in the prototypes department (but the recent prototype additions of rifles seems to prove that there is a lot to go on), but the UK/Commonwealth has soooo many things the devs could get in to without putting a price-tag on or event-locking the common gear.
How do I get hired as a Commonwealth consultant? I could work for free, I got so many ideas for both TT and Event/BP/Premium content, I could even work on 1-for-3 mode (or more!), three uniques for each TT addition, I’d see it done!
Me as well!
On WT they put it as decoration, so we will definitely see it on Enlisted
