History
The Brixia Modello 35 was an Italian light infantry mortar adopted in 1935 to give battalions fast, short-range indirect-fire support. Unlike most small mortars it was breech-loaded and trigger-fired, with propellant cartridges fed from a small detachable magazine — a design that let well-trained crews sustain a very high rate of fire for a weapon of its size. The 45 mm bomb was relatively light and had limited explosive effect, so the Brixia excelled at quickly laying dense, accurate “curtains” of fire against troops in the open or in shallow cover rather than blasting dug-in positions.
It served widely with the Royal Italian Army in North Africa, the Balkans, East Africa, the Greek campaign, on the Eastern Front with Italian units, and on the Italian mainland; captured examples were used by German forces (designated 4.5 cm GrW 176(i)). Tactical doctrine placed Brixias at battalion level to provide immediate, localised fire support — valued for rate and accuracy at close ranges, but limited by its small shell and modest maximum range (roughly half a kilometre).
Where it would be found: This weapon would be located in the tech tree in a folder after the Germans BR: 1 Mortar. If they ever add an Italian sub tech tree, then this would be their starting mortar.
Why we need this: Italy currently has 0 Mortars in game at the moment and with the current Italy Vs. Britain event, that really shows with Italy using the German Mortar. They should add this for better Italian representation in WW2.

Looking at footage of the Brixia being fired, and 8-10 RoF provided by @SdKfz173DW-live, it’s safe to say that the Brixia/AG-2 comparison is not valid.
The AG-2 does direct automatic fire with HE, the Brixia is a lever operated mortar, still meant to preform indirect fire, it is functionally identical to the other TT mortars. It trades a marginal increase in RoF (not the best for a mortar with limited ammunition, shooting blindly) for less explosive power. The lever-action + magazine does appear to at best give it a marginal rate of fire increase, but I doubt the effective RoF (drawn out engagement, time for reloading included) is anything else but equal (this thing would have to be reloaded I imagine, whereas you can just continue to drop rounds with a conventional mortar, switching ammo type would take time too, assuming this thing could also fire smoke). Operating a lever is at best also marginaly faster than dropping loose rounds down the barrel, this is no burst fire or automatic beast, it’s still limited by human hands.
In short, this is a normal mortar with a slight twist, comparing it to the AG-2 is unfair and incorrect, and it’s definetly TT material.
That’s unlikely to happen sadly with the current player numbers.
Italy and Germany (just like US and the Commonwealth) are united due to necessity, it’s a compromise. But that compromise should still come with everything nessesary to make a full subfaction functional, full 1-1 paraty is unrealistic (and undesireable), but when we’ve effectively only got one choice for low and high BR mortars for one faction, making them event-walled or pay-walled just shouldn’t be an option.
If this compromise isn’t kept, calls for full seperation will continue, better give everyone what they want, fully functional Italy does not have to mean fully seperate.
i wouldn’t be opposed to the italian 81 mm as an event mortar. like the m2 used to be before they introduced it for everyone in the TT.
but the one in this topic is more of a event / premium material.
especially since it’s italian.
although i suppose never say never.
since it wasn’t as rare as most other italian event/premium items.
( but then again the " criteria " for what is “worthy” of being premium or event or tt is all over the place )
