I feel the original British Mk I Lewis Gun should be added to the Allies Research Tree. Yes it is currently an event weapon but I don’t think iconic things should be locked as some throwaway event prize. America has its iconic WW1 BAR that soldiered on to WW2, so Britain should have its original iconic WW1 lmg also. Thousands of Lewis guns still saw service even though they were replaced by the Bren.
Also, I find it funny that the premium Soviet Marine LMG squad has their Lewis gun model proudly named as the “Lewis Gun” despite being a limited contract and chambered for 7.62x54mmR, while the current event and original British model is named the “Lewis 303” as if the British model is the one that stands out. A little Russian bias in my opinion.
I know some of you may mention all the other copious models and variants of the Lewis gun to be added, and I think those should be added as well. But I feel for the greater good the original British Lewis Gun should be added to the Research Tree.
It is not the first time event content has been put into the Research Tree, like when they made America’s standard issue light M2 Mortar an event prize for some reason! The event Lewis gun doesn’t have a bipod so if they want that one can remain as your gift 3 star mg, and the standard Lewis gun with its bipod can be added.
Regardless, the iconic British Mk I Lewis Gun should be added to the Research Tree
