My idea is cruel; I’m an infamous mine user, I don’t mind admitting it, and I’d like to add booby traps that fit into mine slots. More or less powerful than anti-infantry mines? That will depend on the developers. The point is that placing them will require a small assembly process with a risk-reward element, that’s what comes to mind…I share some examples, but, I want let devs have fun making them
We already have ap mines.
You could have explained clearer how should they should be implemented.
Because in my mind they should work very similar to an ap mine and i dont think it would worth adding something that already exist.
If you explain it clearer i would change my mind.
I like the idea of booby traps, however, a few would whine about booby traps being to OP like they whined about AP mines, and it wouldn’t be long till the booby traps got neutered like the AP mines did. Now the AP mines are just above a misquito bite on the damage scale.
Kind of strange how fast the Dev’s neutered the AP mines, it seemed like it was a very short time from some people bitching till they were nerfed. However, people have been bitching “FOR YEARS” about the poor bots and Soviet body armor, and nothing, nothing but we don’t want to make knee jerk reactions. Anyway, if booby traps were added, the Dev’s would just end up appeasing the whiners and making them not worth the time to deploy.
Bacause the soviet body armor is holy for the developers and the most toxic mains (soviet mains).
AP mine nerf was stupid and happened only because blind cry babies couldnt use their eyes. As you said, in most cases they are weak and do nothing serious.
Ironically since I notice that the Soviets use AP mines a lot; I wonder if there will eventually be calls to nerf anti-tank mines too. Ever since the dynamite packs got nerfed, they’ve become the only useful item for Saboteurs. I hadn’t paid much attention to them until now, but if you place one behind a tank that’s just sitting there sniping, you can toss a grenade in front of it to make it back up onto the mine or just shoot the mine directly. More than one KV “enjoyer” has fallen for that, and it’s satisfying, given how unfair the spamming is in BR 1–2 when the player count is low.
Also, a question that always intrigues me and is something to think about is whether these nerfs will apply equally across all factions.
I obviously use then a lot, and always have. Now, there are times I can drop an AP mine and watch someone walk over it, it detonates and it doesn’t have enough power to even drop the enemy to the floor. You would think at the very minimum it should have enough power to at least drop the person and make him have to bandage himself.
I am one of those people that others bitched and complained about because I have always used my AP mines, and I drop one with every soldier I can. Ironically, I used to get tons of kills with them, however I rarely died due to AP mines. I just learned to avoid the common areas people place them. Main routes, doorways, stairways ect. I almost always use the window, which is rarely mined. You improvise, adapt, overcome, but you don’t whine.
Would be cool to have some trip wire mines for doorways and booby trapped Japanese pistols or coconut mines. I used to think AP mines were evil 2 yrs ago felt like AP mine hell but as @Luvs2spooge said they often don’t even down enemy’s now and seem about as dangerous as tacks on the floor… Some more new mines for everyone would be fun. I don’t mind AP mines anymore because generally I can spot them when I pay attention, Ive never really used AP mines but as for AT mines that’s fun because someone takes out my rally or fortification they get themself wiped. The window thing is clever btw, you can see it but you cant reverse easily.
Would be kind of cool to be able to setup punji sticks, which is what the Vietcong called them, but I know the Japanese used them as well but not sure what they called them
.
Maybe they can just use different object models depending on the context for AP mines, like the model for the mine become traps when used indoors or something. That way it solves the complaint others have that it is unrealistic to use mines on hard surfaces.
