Probably an old and dumb question but I just don’t know. Does the Soviet body armor actually protect or is it just aesthetics?
yup like -10%
wanna play soviets?
People just don’t take advantage of this mechanic enough. Being able to tank an extra shot from smg’s and most semi automatics is a considerable cwc advantage.
Giving the Soviets and “ONLY” the Soviets body armor is one of many stupid things Gaijin has done for Enlisted. However, giving only the Soviets body armor is one of Gaijin’s most blatant faction bias. There is literally zero reason to only allow one faction to have it.
and then you go to ask to remove it and people go apeshit
Devs gave soviets exclusive access to body armor because they were largely using it in war. You can see it on sturm engineers as often as PPSH in their hands. That’s why japanese troops have exclusive access to mass-produced Shin-Gunto, because only japs used sabers so often, among other nations
Well, if Enlisted is going to “LIMIT” items that “EVERY” faction had to the faction that used it the most, then Soviets should have the body armor…Japanese should have their Shin-Gunto…and if this is Gaijin’s Philosophy then the US should have exclusive access to Shotguns, since the US by far used Shotguns more then any other faction. ![]()
Of course, then where does it stop? This might be the way Gaijin looks at it, but it’s stupid, and since people have been complaining about the Soviet body armor for as long as I can remember, removing it or giving the other factions the same option should not be a knee jerk reaction at this point. I mean, how many years do people have to complain before it is not a knee jerk reaction to correct? ![]()
Personally, I really don’t care either way, however people are going to keep complaining till Gaijin grows a pair and either removes the body armor all together, adds body armor options to all factions or keeps the body armor exclusive to the Soviets but remove the 10% reduction, so it would be for appearance only.
Lately, there has also been a lot of new information about Japanese equipment used/tested in the Second Sino-Japanese War, including body armor; much of that equipment would be useful to Japan.
This is just wrong. Luftwaffe used 3-barrel shotgun aka Drilling massively, that was Görings way to earn money besides his salary. He kinda liked luxury life, so needed extra income. Soviets used TOZ widely in partisans movement, that was common weapon for hunters or ordinary peasants. Half of japanese tech tree is paper anyway, so extra shotgun don’t make any difference. So Allies, besides Japan (until recently), have exclusive access to pump (trench) and auto shotguns. About BA, I personally don’t like the idea to remove the whole mechanic of body armor, which meant to reduce incoming damage, but I do think that equipped body armor should drain stamina faster and/or reduce sprint speed by some %. Thats why only sturm engineers were equipped with armor, not machinegunners or riflemans
No, it is not wrong, the Soviets and Germans did not widely use Shotguns in the war. In fact, unlike the USA neither the Japanese, Soviets nor the Germans had shotguns included in their military doctrine. Search it for yourself.
Did the Soviets, Germans and Japanese use Shotguns? Yes, which I didn’t claim they didn’t. I said that if Gaijin or people are going to insist on the Soviets having body armor in the game because they used body armor MORE then the other factions, then the US should have exclusive access to Shotguns since it is FACT that the US used Shotguns FAR more then any other faction.
All factions had body armor, just as all factions had shotguns, so if we are going to base things on who used them most, then ONLY THE US should have shotguns. ![]()
Basically, just get rid of the body armor, or give every faction the right to use it. This is not a knee jerk reaction, this is common sense, something Gaijin has a severe lack of.
Personally, I wish they would just get rid of the body armor.
2500 Drillings (Deutsches shotgun) were produced during 1941-1942 and 3.2-3.5k pilots were assigned to battle missions during this time. If 70% of Luftwaffe pilots is not “widely” I don’t know what it is. We can’t gather information about how widely soviets used shotguns, because partisans weren’t regular army, but we do know that it was “last ditch” weapon for them during 1941. So it’s historically too.
- U.S. should have exclusive access to pump and auto shotguns, which is historically. I don’t like Japan having Auto 5 either.
- Giving everybody BA is like giving US atomic bomb and spreading it to everyone, just because Germany had its own project of it (unfinished), Japan got bombed, and soviets just because everyone is now getting it.
Yep and the game will turn into 20 madmans running and gunning in almost similar body armors, which will absolutely ruin the immersion
So what are you suggesting, only pilots should be able to use that gun?
Nope, it’s fine how it is. Actually not, it should fire rifle round from the third barrel, so its kinda unfinished by the devs
Its a hidden secret mechanic that effectively gives Soviets 15 HP when combined with the vitality perk.
All other factions have 13.5 HP.
You dont need long to figure out how 15 HP effects various weapons and their bullets to kill.
And don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating for the US to be the only faction using shotguns, I am just using it as an analogy as to why a faction getting exclusive access to an item that all factions had access to in WW2 is not the best policy. Gaijin either needs to shit can the body armor all together, remove the 10% reduction and leave it as Soviet costume jewelry, or give it to all factions. Just my two cents worth for the one cent it’s actually worth. ![]()
