I mean yeah, just because armor stops a bullet doesn’t mean it stops the transfer of kinetic energy
You can make armour to stop a proper rifle round, doesn’t mean you’re ribs aren’t gone. Tank armour works that well because if it doesn’t penetrate nothing happens. All body armour still transfers kinetic energy into the person wearing it, which would still cause damage.
They absolutely are, in a sense I can understand - its very human to troll people that are constantly crying like little girls.
If I was a dev, I would triple the effectiveness for Soviet body armor in the next 1. April event.
Yes, there is a reason why moder body armor use shock absorbers and trauma plates behind the main armor - which even help as stopping rounds that just barely made it through or to catch shrapnel.
Those old WW2 plates would indeed do poorly in this regard - however, a 9mm round doesn’t have much power behind it anyways and as long as the round doesn’t create noticable deformation at the back, the plate would pretty much just absorb most of the kinetic energy and disperse it across the entirety of the plate.
A round actually “physically speaking” has the same kinetic energy as the recoil of the gun, its just concentrated on one tiny point.
Yes, and that caused damage to people wearing body armour.
Biggest problem with that is that it would be way too impactful from the gameplay perspective
Encounters are completely random. Not only are they random about who you’ll encounter from the enemy team, but also who is on the enemy team and even nation you’ll be playing against
and you never know who you’ll run into, so preparing a rifle squad instead of assaulter squad to accommodate for existence of body armor becomes not a reactive action but a precaution
On its own it’s already bad because you’d have to either risk having unusable squads or just never use them which makes variety of gameplay less fun
The issue becomes even larger when you consider that most meta weapons are SMGs
So that would fix the realistic perspective but would suck major ass in terms of gameplay, the same reason why weapon jamming was scrapped as a mechanic
Well and thats exactly the reason why overall the Soviet body armor plates on their own were actually a failed concept, which is why they were primarily used by combat engineers for shrapnel protection.
Germany never deployed SMGs on mass to begin with, most their troops had rifles with each group having a MG as their main fire power. Those plates maybe had some limited effect in Stalingrad, but later in the war where STGs became more common, they completely lost their cqc impact.
Highly unlikely, I believe the memeretta 20 round vs ppsh41 back in moscow was very reasonable to add at same level.
Or remembering to fix Mp38’s broken 0.21 dispersion about soon as ppl figured it out but accidentally forgetting ppsh41 box for several years.
I heard an anecdote from a person who got shot in a chest by a pistol while wearing modern body armor and they described it as being hit in the chest by a baseball thrown as hard as possible from a professional pitcher
Really I don’t want to imagine the effects of being shot by just wearing a basic slab of metal
Doesn’t Grease Gun still have very low dispersion?
Guess that never was enough to make the gun usable.
Only 0.50sih. It is low for SMG level, but in no regard worth mentioning in comparison to Box PPSh and MP38.
M1921AC has 0.21, though.
For all intents and purposes the 1921 ac is a hybrid smg ar that actually outclassed the assault rifle America gets
0.52 - 0.54 so less than average smg’s that are between 0.7-0.8
I dont exactly know wheres the exact dispersion limit when guns turn to lazorbeams, 0.2 is anyway extremely accurated.
Id guess the 0.5 is still just that inaccurated that the extremely low rof cant really compensate the slightly better accuracy.
And as sidenote, id say the slow .45 aint exactly helping there.
Lower dispersion counteracts low rof
High rof guns with the same dispersion have a higher chance to kill because they simply get to roll the dice on whether your bullet hits or not more often
Thats why PPSh Box was so incredibly broken as it had both, making its lower damage point barely noticable
But not anymore yes? Same dispersion as the Box mag now
Well, the poll can be officially counted as concluded I believe
The reddit results are also rather uniform also against the issue or they believe body armor should be adjusted other ways
Now question is whether the devs still deem it a knee-jerk reaction but that’s on @MajorMcDonalds to communicate to us
Its important to keep in mind that 44 voted to give it a downside and 73 voted to remove it, compared to 21 people wanting to keep it “as it is”
This can be interpreted as 117 who are not satisfied with body armor as it is currently implemented compared to 21 people who are satisfied as it is currently implemented.
Anyway @ImpostorWhenSUS if you have not done so already, I would encourage you to create a follow up post there discussing the results. It would give more attention over the matter
