Hello bajátrsak and fellow forumdwellers,
allow me to present to you the Beistegui MM-34 also known as Royal MM-34, a machine pistol produced by Beistegui Hermanos in Spain and sold on the international market.
The company Beistegui Hermanos still exists though they are no longer producing firearms and have transitioned to bicycles in the 1930s.
In the first half of the 20th century, Spain had the most lenient copy-right laws in the world; this had motivated many small workshops and gunsmiths to operate in Spain and produce unlicensed copies of popular weapons, one such weapon was the Mauser C96 which had unprecedented popularity in the Far-East.
To capitalise on the market, Beistegui copied the Mauser C96 and produced pistols that are externally nearly identical to the original gun, however Beistegui has made a few mechanical improvements to the gun so it’s not just a straight copy.
The MM-34 was introduced in 1934 and is the final irritation of the Beistegui pistols and is a massive improvement compared to the earlier models that had too small magazines and too high rate of fire. The gun features a 20 round detachable magazine which is interchangeable with the Mauser magazines, a retarder to slow down the fire rate, a fire (mode) selector and even a fire rate adjuster, it can also be equipped with a detachable wooden stock.
The design features a barrel with cooling fins which make it look very distinctive and recognisable. Production of the model MM-34 itself was modest due to the Spanish government cracking down on weapon production in 1934, limiting it to export with government oversight (rising tensions, Spanish civil war, it’s worth a topic of its own) almost all MM-34 machine pistols were sold in China, to war lords.
In game relevance:
The most logical faction to add the Beistegui MM-34 to, is the Japanese faction since Japan had captured Mauser “boxguns” and its unlicensed copies in tens of thousands from China and the Japanese faction has a serious shortage of low BR submachine guns.
The Royal MM-34, if added, needs to be added as a submachine gun rather than as a sidearm.
Because MM-34 would be too similar to the Schnellfeuer M712 sidearm (available to Axis) and also because there are other more interesting guns for sidearm roles like the Star Model A Carbine.
unrelated Star A carbine
Star model A carbine, a possible automatic event/BP sidearm for Japan, similar to Yazikov SMG and Colt Schwarz sidearms. I plan to make its own suggestion eventually.

The Beistegui MM-34 can be equipped with a detachable wooden stock.
with the wooden stock equipped the closest gun would probably be the OVP 1918 but with a little less damage.
Without the woodenstock it would be closest to the Obrez ppsh41 but with slightly better damage and half the magazine capacity.
- Add MM-34 with wooden stock
- Add MM-34 without the wooden stock
- Add both variants with AND without wooden stock
Sadly, the fire rate is not known, most automatic Mauser C96 guns have about 900 rpm by default, but since a retarder was added it could be different, so its fire rate can be played around with for game balance or to make it unique.
- 900 rpm in full-auto / 600 rpm in slow-auto (probably closest to reality)
- 750 rpm in full-auto / 500 rpm in slow-auto
- 600 rpm in full-auto / 400 rpm in slow-auto
- BR1
- BR2
thank you for your time and attention!
