Because bayonets are useful, and almost every gun has a lug for it, its natural that people want to have it on every gun that would support it. But at the same time, it would make the game feel even less authentic because those werent that widely used in WW2 as in WW1 for example.
So my idea here is that bayonets would only appear on upgraded lvl 3 weapons while being removed from not upgraded ones.
Idea here can be also expanded to Machine Guns, where some of lvl 3 ones could receive scopes.
As for Event/BP weapons, I believe bayonets could be given after reaching a certain amount of kills/headshots with them as a little fun activity.

I think that would make the game a bit unfair for newer players who can’t upgrade everything yet. Personally I would also prefer if the upgrade system does not change the weapon itself.
But the idea of adding scopes to MG’s for events and such things is great. I love the Japanese scoped MG, wish there were more of those.

I would rather make bayonets have some debuffs so it is always a choice if you want to use it or not. For an example bayonets would have slower weapon changing speed and slower weapon handling to balance the recoil buff and movement speed that it gives you

Changing providers, losing 1600 hours of gameplay to see the game in its current state, makes me want to cry.
Only very few machine guns of the time period count mount scopes like the Type 97 (the MG-34 you have in the photo has the scope as part of the tripod, not the gun).
In addition walling off stuff like that (for machine guns which can actually get scopes) and bayonets behind lvl 3 sounds terrible.
Well, tbh a bayonet is the smallest concern considering they will have to fight against people who have maxed out squads with BP/event gear and vehicles, if anything axes can serve the purpose until unlocked

I know, its just that I wanted to avoid posting anything that wasnt any historical, this photo im sure is correct for demonstration purpose.
As for scopes they indeed were niche but I guess much more common than most of the guns we recently got in TT or Battle Pass
