Give the shovel a second mode where it functions literally like an axe, with the same animations.
Replace all axes in inventories with shovels.
And people probably use charging more often than digging. Therefore, the shovel’s combat mode should be the default.
I don’t want to replace my purchased axes, but I agree that you should be able to have a dedicated melee mode with shovels.
