In spite of its appearance the Walther toggle is not a clone of the Browning 5 auto like the Remington model 11 or Savage model 520. Thee Walther is a civilian model shotgun meant for hunting waterfowl replacing older double barrel shotgun. The Walther would work as an excellent analogue to the Auto 5.

The Walther Togle Locked shotgun was developed in 1921 by the Walther brothers Fritz Walther and Georg Walther. Over 5,000 were manufactured by the Deutsche-Werke consortium by 1930. Improvements continued to be made to the end including dust covers and reinforcement ribs though it remained fragile compared to the auto 5.

The Walther is a semi auto shotgun meaning it fires each time the trigger is pulled. Like most tube fed shotguns and rifles the shells are stored in the under the barrel though a stock magazine was patented. The gun is loaded one shell at a time up to 4 to 5 in the magazine for 12 and 16 gauge with one in the barrel.
