Anybody here excited for the Heroes and Generals fan re-release?

I was recently invited to play the closed beta test of the community revival project of Heroes and Generals. It seems really close to being ready so if I had to guess it’s probably going to be available for the public in Q1 2026

Is it gonna ba available for us X-box players?

No, since the original Heroes and Generals wasn’t available for consoles and the game files needed some modification to not crash Windows 11 users. Also the whole project is in kind of a legally grey area since they don’t have express permission from the IP holders to be hosting these fan-made servers for the game for people to play on

But that grind! It would be nice to stroll down memory lane.

I get the notion of strolling down memory lane, but that’s got to be it, yeah? Once a game is dead, it’s dead unless I’m missing notable examples.

Well that sucks, would’ve liked to try it.

Not anymore unfortunately. I was a long-time player, but they never gave new content, modes or updated the engine. While I did have some great memories in H&G on PC. especially whisteling at your enemies and the random blind sniper, I will not return

Not particularly.

I had a lot of fun with this game for sure. But it is too late now.

The grind was excessive and the maintenance cost of most weapons’ accessories was just a pain. Moreover, if it is not possible retrieve my old account progression, I won’t even bother installing the game.

agreeing with this post in its full

Hmm, I will take a look to get some PTSD and depression (from knowing I wasted years on that game and now Im doing the same with Enlisted).

Toon Town Rewritten?

The dev team behind the project has considered giving every player permanent veteran membership or reducing the grind in other ways, since nobody can spend money on the game at this point and everybody would be forced to be a F2P player in a F2P model game

Also, for what its worth, the community developers have expressed interest in adding more maps and content to the game. They don’t plan on just hosting 3rd party servers and thats it

Well in that case, that could be interesting. While I might try it for nostalgia, I doubt I would be playing this for too long though.

I use to be a top player tell me about the grind! I started before squad 2.0. I would be a total savage in that game since the skills gap is so wide and I play on big screens where that poor rendering would give away a person half way across the map. That game had a different kind of intensity. When you held a capture zone it felt like you earned it. My favorite thing was a tank X (10 kills with an h3). I still do not understand why Enlisted does not have magnetic and sticky.

I was in the 14th Panzer Division clan and let me tell you, fighting against other clans like Red Scare was intense, difficult, but most importantly fun.

Enlisted really doesn’t capture that large scale clan vs clan fighting (im talking 8-12 clan members fight another 8-12 clan members)

It was really fun to cooperate with other clans on the same faction to try and achieve war goals. There was another big GE clan with “Jaegers”-something in their name but I can’t remember it exactly since its been so many years

90% of their clan was banned after H&G upgraded to BattlEye. Not to mention that they hard exploited the queue mechanics for years.

bro red scare was so tough, I was 3rd Pzr Grndr - was not fun

I just remember fighting them once and they put “RED SCARE” as their weapon names for their captured P38 pistols and that kinda made me concerned for the wellbeing of the person behind the keyboard
