An alternative Full Access and progression system for Stalingrad, or how to reward FA players without penalizing the ones playing for free and with things already in the game (mostly)

(The spreadsheet with the actual progression is at the bottom)

The concept behind it

I tried to stick to set of rules which in my opinion allow for a balance between historical accuracy, not changing too much what has already been announced and keeping the Full Access (FA) concept appealing for those interested and who may have already bought it, while still making it interesting to those playing for free (or at least without FA) :

  • Trophy / prototype / foreign equipment are kept to FA as much as possible, thus simulating their rarity.

  • No standard issue equipment is locked behind a paywall, especially iconic ones (I know it has practically the exact same meaning than the previous one but I think it’s important to say it anyway).

  • Everyone unlocks something at every level like the standard progression system (with one exception because I didn’t know what to put there).

  • Each side not mirroring each other is not an issue, asymmetrical balance is a possibility that should be explored, if other games can do it, why not Enlisted ?

The Changes to the Full Access Pass

First of all, the following features would be kept in their current state :

  • The 2 premium vehicles.
  • Everything unlocked in at max level -1.
  • The XP boost.

What would change would be the equipment unlocked and how it’s done, it would be separated in two categories :

  • Early Unlocks : equipment unlockable for free anyway, but would be unlock a bit sooner, cold be with an adjusted upgrading price to make the FA pass more appealing (lower level unlocks → less stars → cheaper to upgrade and transfer to and from).

  • Excusive Unlocks : equipment reserved to FA players, this would almost exclusively include trophy / prototype / foreign one as mentioned earlier.

About Asymmetrical Balancing

The Soviets have the best SMGs and the Germans have the best LMGs so on the surface I tried to just give to each side something that coud be extremely effective with the proper playstyle.

In my opinion, a good way to make it better would be to increase the number of gunner slots overhaul (except for gunner squads of course). Meaning giving one to some squads that don’t have any and giving one more for some squads which already have one.

This would also be a good system for a future Pacific campaign to prevent having Japanese soldiers with prototype / captured SMGs all over the place, even though they used a lot of LMGs.

I know this comments are probably coming but no, LMGs are not unusable since Berlin.
I know it, you know it, everyone knows it.
They are slightly harder to use than before but good luck crossing a street if there is a German machine gunner who realized it’s not supposed to be used like an assault rifle.

Alternative Proposal to the Officially Announced Campaign Progression Tree

Disclaimer

  • You may agree or not on who unlocks what at what level, but the most important thing here is the concept, please keep that in mind.

  • When there things in both Early and Exclusive Unlock on the same line, it means they could fit one or the other depending on how hard you want things to be exclusive.

  • Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I suffer from dyslexia and English is not my native language.

  • I have tried to change as little as possible what was already announced.

  • I’m not really a plane nerd, so suggestion in that department could probably be improved.

  • I know unlocking a MG34 with an engineer squad doesn’t really makes sense and no I don’t want to give every engineer a machinegun. But I didn’t have much time left.

  • I know there is no MKb 42 (H), it’s on purpose. It could be added at higher level in the future but giving to almost every soldier a prototype assault rifle at level 25 even thought the first version of the actually adopted one is exclusive to assaulters and unlocked at level 32, in a battle that is supposed to happened a year and a half later, doesn’t make sense to me.

  • I know it looks like it has been made on Excel by someone that doesn’t know how to use Excel, you’re wrong, it’s OpenOffice Calc.
Because in addition of my questionable competence with this type of software, I use the bootleg brand.

Not to shoot down the idea or anything, but it’s a little bit too late aight.
We’re supposed to get the Stalingrad update 4 hrs from now. Unless you want another 1 month BP extension

Am i seeing this wrong or did you just prupose the fg 42 in stalingrad, but removed the mkb because its a prototype rifle??

ok, i like the idea but keep the mkb, it was used in stalingrad even as a prototype

Yeah I know but we never know, and it still could be useful for future campaigns (and honestly if we could have something close to that instead of what they announced ? I’m all for an additional month, which I’m guessing is not a popular idea lol)

I mentioned in the disclaimer part that it could be added at a later level :

In addition iirc there were not really around Stalingrad at the time and saw action for the first time in Italy in early-mid 1943, but the MKb wasn’t in a situation that much different, I know like 50 of them got paradropped near Leningrad to an encircled unit in 1942 but it’s not like 1 german soldier out of 5 had one in Stalingrad.

And let’s be honest a FG 42 for snipers is way less OP than a MKb for sniper too, so giving it to everyone is umbalanced, pay to win and not historically accurate.

Indeed, that why I’m taking it from them, and maybe I try them from time to time.

Not really, you can just remove scope from FG and you have one of best guns in game.

I find the gun to be kinda terrible with the scope.

It is lol. Without a scope it is godly, but with it its pretty meh.

A MKb 42 can have his scope removed too, and I’m taking that over a FG 42 everyday, especially in urban combat.

It can not.

It can’t ? ah my bad then

You took the old, uncorrected tech tree for your example. Devs already made corrections for it to be better for everyone…

Use this one:

I saw that one indeed but I couldn’t get my hand on it in time, but because it hasn’t been officially announced yet and because it doesn’t change my point at all I didn’t bother, but if I can change it in my post I’m replacing the old one, thanks for that mate.

  1. mkb for snipers and fg 42 for snipers are about equal in strength imo

  2. the mkb isnt being given to everyone, they annaunced it would be limited to assaulters and engineers a week ago

  3. the slight historical inaccuracy of mkb’s in stalingrad is not even comparable to that of the fg 42 in stalingrad

  4. judging by what you are writing i am guessing you meant for the AVT to be for troopers. and in that case, your proposal would have ZH v AVT, which is way worse balance wise compared to AVT v Mkb

That is a lie, it’s very good with the scope, you just need to get use to it

In an urban area I would bet that the lower recoil and 30 round mags will make it better.

True, I forgot about that. (And even if Keofox posted about it on the forum, they still haven’t officially announced it less than an hour from scheduled launch tbh, I’m taking precaution because he was also the one telling us that there were going to be less automatic weapons in Stalingrad, we all know how that turned out).

It’s still way too much, I unlocked the MP43/1 two days ago and I’m wiping the floor with the US team at every match, but it’s reserved to assaulter, unlocked at level 32 and I’m certain that Stalingrad will have much more close quarter combat than Normandy, not to mention that it’s a great weapon but not locked behind a paywall, which make it more fair on the ethical side.

I can’t argue with that, but the balance between historical accuracy and weapon balancing is better with a scoped FG 42.
And again, I believe you but I haven’t found any proof (in my 5min search) of the MKb being used in Stalingrad, so afaik, they were both prototypes, they were both being built in low number and both issued in small quantities for field testing, the only slight advantage that the MKb has in my book so far historical accuracy-wise is that 50 has been dropped in a resistance pocket 1500km away of Stalingrad a few months before the battle.

I totally disagree.

Nobody ever use the AVT in full auto because it’s uncontrollable (recoil of 70/20 fully upgraded, in comparison the FG42 II unlocked at the same level in Berlin has 34/8, so literally less than half the recoil but a higher capacity mag) and extremely expensive to upgrade and buy anyway for its efficiency (which is fine for me, it was not really useful and expensive to make, so it should be represented that way).

From my own experience and what I saw other people do is that usually people would rather give a SVT-38/40 to more soldiers than one or two AVT. The two real advantages in comparison to the SVTs is the 15 rounds mags, a higher rate of fire in semi-auto, which make it great but only accessible to FA players at this stage or even at all.

And again I’m basing my proposal on what has been officially announced, I have no objection giving the AVT to assaulter and engineer only, or let’s even give it to gunners as a starting weapons instead with a slightly lower recoil to make it usable, not the best but still better than the Breda on the historical side of things, but it wouldn’t be a great weapon to use gameplay wise.

I honestly just kept all of those to keep has much of the original board as possible, if it was up to me there would be only bolt action rifle until later and the semi autos would be reserved for Engineers, because with the first SA at lvl 9 the change they did to BA are almost useless because nobody will use them past lvl 9, and a BA only (or close) campaign would be a nice change imo.

the 12 damage of the fg 42 more or less makes up for that, atleast to the point where i wouldnt consider one considerably better than the other

this is true. it is a slight historical stretch. but mkb’s were rolled out only a few months after stalingrad and were used almost exclusivly on the eastern front, which makes it slightly better. compared to the fg 42 that barely saw any action east of berlin.

there is also the fact that only a total of 7000 fg 42’s were ever made in the entirety of the war. and close to all of them were deployed in either italy or the western front, long after stalingrad.

now the mkb also had rather low numbers, with only 8 000-11 000 made. but from what i can tell, almost all of those were deployed in the eastern front by the time they stopped its production in favour of the mp43 and StG44

this is ripped straight from wikipedia because i am lazy

" By March 1943, 2,734 MKb 42(H) were accepted into service, followed by 2,179 in April alone and 3,044 in May; these numbers correlate well with the Haenel estimates for these months (2,000 and respectively 3,000). Additionally, Haenel estimated that 3,000 were made in June and 1,000 in July, resulting in an upper estimate of 12,000 units for the MKb 42(H). However, the Haenel production figures from June 1943 onward do not differentiate between the last batches of MKb 42(H) and the first batches of MP 43/1. Other sources seem to accept only the more conservative estimate of 8,000 units "

it does have some fat recoil yes, but its still very much doable (especially with vertical recoil reduction)
zacharoni has a great video on the AVT if you are interested

this is just dumb. there is no reason to pick the SVT over the AVT. there are no advantages to using the SVT since the AVT is just an automatic SVT with more ammo (which is why it is so good).

you are underestimating how much of a massive differance the firerates of semis make. even if you dont use the AVT in auto, it still has a massive advantage because you can fire twice as fast as a zh with still controlable recoil. and when you find yourself in cqc, just switch to auto and delete everyone around you. you shoot once and miss in cqc with a zh? youre dead because you only have 200 rof. you miss with an AVT(or any SF rifle for that matter)? just shoot again because there is basically no downtime between shots

I beg to differ :upside_down_face: using full auto doesn’t meant emptying the whole mag everytime you shoot. It’s a death machine in experienced hands.
