On the night of July 9-10, 1943, the largest amphibious operation of World War II began, in terms of the landing zone’s size and the number of divisions put ashore on the first day, in order to take the island from the Axis forces and thereby pave the way for an invasion of mainland Italy.
From July 9th (13:00 UTC) to July 15th (13:00 UTC), you can get rewards for completing tasks.
Rewards
For completing 8 out of the 12 tasks, you will receive a unique Italian Machine Gunner II alternative squad, and for 10 completed tasks, a unique British Radio operator II alternative squad.
Alternative squads function similarly to normal squads, except that they represent the nations not available in the research tree for that specific class. They don’t have personnel (red) and workshop (yellow) upgrades, because they come with normal soldiers and weapons that you can change anytime. Vehicle squads however don’t come with vehicles.
Tasks
Phase 1 (July 9th - July 11th):
Kill 120 enemies.
Kill 40 enemies using a machine gun.
Kill 50 enemies using a submachine gun.
Complete 4 battles.
Phase 2 (July 11th - July 13th):
Kill 120 enemies.
Kill 30 enemies as a Machine Gunner.
Kill 15 enemies using a bolt-action rifle or a semi-auto rifle.
Complete 4 battles.
Phase 3 (July 13th - July 15th):
Kill 120 enemies.
Kill 20 enemies as a Radio operator.
Kill 60 enemies using a machine gun.
Complete 4 battles.
Temporarily available
During the event the following squads will also temporarily return to the shop for Gold:
35th Infantry Regiment “Pistoia” with Beretta M31 (Germany, BR II)
XIV Tank Battalion “M” with M13/40 (III) (Germany, BR I)
132nd Infantry Brigade with Flamethrower portable No.2 Mk II (USA, BR IV)
5th Guards Armoured Brigade with Sherman IC “Firefly” (USA, BR IV)
Terms
The tasks can be completed in the Squads mode.
The list of tasks is updated every two days at 13:00 UTC.
Tasks can be completed simultaneously.
Uncollected rewards will disappear when the tasks change.
From July 15th (13:00 UTC) to July 17th (13:00 UTC), after the end of the event, you will have the opportunity to purchase any missing rewards for Gold.
Preliminary Answers for Alt/Legacy squads:
The plan is to have alt or legacy squads available for most classes (including I,II,III,IVs) for the USA (UK/US) and Germany (ITA/GER)
There are no plans to have alt squads for certain classes: Guerrilla II, APC driver II, Rider I and Assaulter I
Alt squads will be distributed via events
Legacy squads will be added to the silver chest (only to the silver), first the ones that are similar to alt squads, and the rest will be added later on
So essentially they are just blank squads? Kinda lame without any special weapon, uniform or hero soldier. Do they even have a proper unit name than just Italian and British squad 101?
