Aircraft BR rework

Hello fellow aces,

This is my first post here, so article layout may look terrible. I apologize if it hurts your eyes while reading.

Anyway let’s get into the topic.

The current plane BR logic in Enlisted is garbage, many aircraft are either too weak or straight up OP in their own BR. I came up with a new approach to improve it.

Basic Rules

  1. BR1–2 are grouped together. Aircraft in these BRs will not exceed RB BR 2.7 in War Thunder

  2. Aircraft in BR3 will not exceed RB BR 4.0 in War Thunder

  3. Aircraft in BR4 will not exceed RB BR 5.0 in War Thunder

Exceptions

  1. Aircraft with strong firepower and good payloads will be placed one BR higher

  2. Aircraft with limited or no payload options will be placed one BR lower

NOTICE

• These rules apply to roughly 90% of aircraft since it’s really hard to came up with a perfect rule to take all aircraft into account

• Aircraft not mentioned here are mostly acceptable or good in Enlisted in my opinion

• I’m working on another plane wishlist for all nations, so some of the adjustments in here may look nonsense or stupid

Most of the changes I think necessary are as follow:

USSR

Changes

• Pe-3 moved to BR2
WT BR 2.0

• I-185 (M82) moved to BR4
WT BR 3.7
Performance wise should be BR3, but 3 ShVAKs and 2x250 bombs are no joke

• IL-10 moved to BR4
WT BR 5.0
Overshadowed by Tu-2S in BR5, may become another legend in BR4 (USSR also lacks tech tree BR4 attacker as well)

USA

Changes

• P-38E moved to BR2
WT BR 3.0
Who the hell uses this when P-38G and J are available?

• A-20 variants moved to BR3
WT BR 2.7
XA-38 does everything better than A-20 while being 1 BR lower is absolutely crazy

• Spitfire LF Mk IX moved to BR4
WT BR 5.7
It usually fights against Bf 109 K-4 in War Thunder

• XA-38 moved to BR4
WT BR 3.7
A-20 Pro Max with big guns, should’ve been BR4 from the very beginning

• B-25 / PBJ moved to BR4 with payload changed to four 500lb bombs
WT BR 3.7
Paratrooper squad with 7 soldiers plus six 500lb bombs, do not expect it to do anything else in BR5

• F4U-1C moved to BR4
WT BR 4.7
Used to be BR4, and I think it’s time to let it return

• P-47D-22 moved to BR4
WT BR 3.7
Not as powerful as people expected, BR4 is definitely fair

Germany

• Bf 109 F-4/trop moved to BR2
WT BR 4.0
Bombs are needed to keep it in BR3

• Bf 109 G-14 moved to BR4
WT BR 5.3
Believe it or not, G-10 actually performs better than G-14 while being 1 BR lower in Enlisted

• Me 410 B-1 moved to BR4
WT BR 3.7
Suffers from power creep in BR5

• Bf 110 G-2 moved to BR3
WT BR 3.7
Another veteran back to where it belongs

Japan

• J2M3 moved to BR4
WT BR 5.7
Overshadowed by N1K2-J in BR5, plus those rockets are pretty useless

• Ki-83 moved to BR3 or replaced by a real attacker
WT BR 6.0
Excellent performance, but we don’t have B-29 in Enlisted

please elaborate on the p47 not being as good as people think

To be honest, BR4 is also too much.
The plane itself is not very good, and Mustang D is BR3.
It’s not a problem if this plane is also placed in BR3.
That’s how terrible the flight performance is.
I don’t know if M71, but M82 should be BR3.

This is an exception,
Because it’s not a fighter, it’s an attacker.
If the attacker has this level of flight performance and good armament, it should be BR5.
The reason why Do 335 was added is to fight with P-47.

and Ki-83 same issue

Normally I was going to give you yes but simply this is not WT here every aircraft must be evaluated since such general rules can’t apply in Enlisted. Some aircraft are very different then WT.

Well we cant move it to BR III really its not an aircraft for everyone but its gonna be way too strong at BR III. Same way Do 335 is BR V aircraft simply this is not aircrafts that you can master easily and its funny to me when they add such aircrafts trying to solve the problem with attackers since this aircrafts have very unique playstyles and the average pilot really cant handle them they are really punishing aircraft’s that don’t allow corrections or mistakes. Dont take me wrong I agree on many of this changes but simply we cant make general rule for aircrafts every aircraft must be evaluated on its own. And putting Ki-83 on the same BR or lower then Ki-61-II Otsu Kai its just crazy.

He is talking the event one P-47D-22 not P-47D-28


This one can be put to BR IV since its not that good.

I’m sure BR5 would have been right in the past,
but now, I think BR4 needs to think about it a bit because M8 has been nerfed over and over again.

At BR V is just useless.

Right.
In the past, it could destroy all tanks, but with continued nerfs, it can only kill infantry and APC in BR5.

Well why would you take 6 x M8 rockets over 10 x HVAR it makes no sense really.

In the past, when the M8 was powerful, it was used to rotate the rotation, but now it’s definitely no longer needed.

Well, Ki-83 gives me a lot of trouble when doing this, but I agree with your point. It will be another trouble in BR3 performance wise, similar to Spitfire LF MK IX.

Well simply you are trying to do too many aircrafts in one topic will be better if you separate them on different topics.

Well yes that’s another very strong aircraft that is on the same level if not better then Ki-84 Ko that for some reason is BR II xD

And simply tweaking BR won’t leave many benefits behind.
This is because there are planes that are too ill-armed or suffer from full fuel problem more seriously.
In fact, the best needs to be fuel-reduced except for armament changes, BR changes, and planes that are too powerful. (In fact, in the case of the Meteor, the bomb has been so badly nerfed that it must change to rollback the armament and must fill up the full fuel for drastically degrades the plane’s performance)

I am not a main pilot in this game, but personally I think, regarding payloads:

Regular MGs, 15mm guns, 50KG/100lb bombs = BR1

20mm guns, 30mm guns, 250KG/500lb bombs = BR2

30+mm guns, 500KG/1000lb bombs = BR3

Rockets = BR4, BR5

I think rockets are the single most effective type of payload in the game, because its effect against infantry is much higher than bombs.

250KG/500lb bombs are needed to take out tanks reliably, so lower power bombs are just a little gimmick.

500 KG/1000lb bombs are guaranteed nukes for tanks, even a skilled tanker that tries to drive away from bombs will usually still die, so comparing 250KG bombs with 500KG bombs you dont actually get more killing power, rather its much more reliable to take out tanks.

Main guns obviously increase air vs air power, but I find having at least a couple of 20mm guns also increases your anti infantry power quite substantially. I personally manage to get more infantry kills with a plane that has multiple 20mm+ canons than a plane with multiple 50KG bombs - this requires however to predict where the enemy might be, because infantry doesn’t render to planes unless you are already crashed.

I agree with everything except moving the A-20Gs down to BR3. I think the M8 A-20G could probably be moved down, but I also think balancing aircraft around an obviously undertiered and OP event plane isn’t a good idea.

Uh how about a bigger bomb then yo? It’s combined arms, not dog fighting sim

U.s. attackers are shit currently even if grizzle wasn’t in the game. A20 has every right to be br3, and if it’s br3, grizzly can be br3. Same bombload, less crew, no one is pwning tanks with the gun either.

I think a 2,000lbs bombload is BR4 worthy, unless you’re also ready to move the IL-8 to BR3
