I was playing a match today when I saw that the enemy team and my team both had 2 aircraft up at once. So a mini dogfight was going on over the battlefield. This got me thinking what if there were more planes in the air without turning enlisted into war thunder.
I suggest that the every 2 minutes ai fighters are launched from landing strips (the player can land at the landing stripes also to get the same benefits of air craft carriers).

The ai fighters shouldn’t be too intense of course but would give fighter players something to do.
P.S: I know the idea of airfields has been suggested lots I just thought that It could be linked into this suggestion also.

What would be their point other than being targets for player controlled planes? Would they bomb/strafe infantry?
No, just fighters for now
yeah. it would be a bit questionable regarding their efficency.
and more of a pain in the
for those who calls bomb run.
but, with that being said,
it would greatly aid modders in their missions to have more planes for players to destroy if they want to aid ground units for example.
or, recreate the battle of midway, or any other uses involving AI planes.
i know where i’ll be using those in my pves for sure though.
To give fighters something to do when no player controlled enemy’s are present.

The ai controlled fighters wouldn’t attack AI bombing runs.
Also forgot to mention a max of 2 ai fighters up at once (per team)
but… they would be rather useless for PVP
and sort of a exploitable since, destroying vehicles as a plane gives lots of xp especially if we consider them being AI.
don’t get me wrong. as said, i still want them for mods.
but i don’t think that alone, will be a sufficient reason to introduce them.
of which, you want to introduce them for the pvp side.
which that’s reasonable i would think.
however just for fighters to do something… i’m not sure that’s enough.
also, still many details to discuss and define.
since br range hasn’t been addressed, where the battle area for this supposed dogfight should happen ( close? or far from the battlefield? how close / far ) and how efficient should those be.
I suggest the implementation of airfields for all maps. Justice for serious pilots, down with guided missiles cycle spam.

It would give a reason to choose to put fighters in a lineup and make pure fighter gameplay viable, if not many airstrikes are called
well, most fighters are being used already if they have either payloads, or 20/30 mms cannons.
which, at most br ranges, almost half of the fighters have payloads or cannons across all brs.
That’s what i am already doing
4 FW 190 go brrrrrtttttttttt
I think with the inclusion of ai fighters, a distinction between attackers and fighters may be made so fighter aircraft can fulfill their intended role better
I like the suggestion but i think they should be able to strafe. But without bombs!!!
Maybe, but I just want the air battle and ground battle to not crossover too much and annoy ground players.
I think it won’t annoy ground players if they just strafe and don’t use bombs/rockets

I agree with your yours points for the most part. It would be cool to not only call in Bombing runs but maybe Strafing runs by fighter aircraft. They could move at a faster pace then the bomber planes and strafe an area at different angles at a select area (objective point, possible rally destinations, etc). This could lead to AI planes getting into dog fights with enemy aircraft as well (another way to combat aircraft if one sides doesn’t have aircraft themselves or proper Anti-plane measures.

This is why it’s a pipe dream that we will have giant battles with a lot more players and vehicles. I imagine 50 total players for each team with 10 tanks and 10 planes each (10 just seems like a good maximum number)

Ai fighters should fly about 400m minimum above the capture zone scanning for player aircraft or enemy ai aircraft.
If they see a enemy aircraft they should attempt to follow the aircraft and fire in small bursts (not too accurate though)
If the player fly’s out of the ai fighters range (depends on particular map size , although their range won’t be very far away from the current cap point)
If 2 ai fighters of different nations detect each other they will take part in a dogfight until 1 remains.
As for which aircraft ai can fly, I would prefer it correspond to the campaigns original fighter choice for that map (example: spitfire for Tunisia) and the fighter should change depending on br.

I mean you can just do ground support in the meantime. Of coarse from a plane you may be unable to tell but strafing the ground is extremely important. You never know if you’re suppressing an enemy rally
