Introduction
Greetings fellow forum dwellers,
I thought I would step out of my comfort zone a little, and write a suggestion about something other than the Patchett for a change! And, well, spread my wings a little, step out from my normal comfort zone that is Commonwealth gear. I suppose it’s only fair I write about something non-Commonwealth for once though - can’t have people thinking I spend all my time polishing my No. 4 Rifle while sipping Earl Grey.
So, let me set the scene for you that got me to write this suggestion in the first place:
There I was, inspirired by the recent UK vs Italy event, trying to make my own historical Italian squad according to my preffered setup style, when I made a terrifying discovery… There are no Italian shovels!

[Shock, gasp] The horror!
Isn’t it strange that they don’t have one? Well, I think they should.
I propose we add this model of shovel, very distinctive with the dual holes meant for fastening the shovel, with the name “Italian socketed shovel”, to serve as the Italian counterpart to the current and sole “German folding shovel”:
This one isn’t relevant to how it should be modeled in game, but shows the intended use for those two holes I mentioned:

- Yes
- Yes, but another model (please share down below)
- No (please comment why)
Sadly, due to the overal obscurity of WW2 Italian militaria, and not speaking the local language, I was unable to locate any sources I could with good conscience recomend you to look at, and further investigation into this matter by someone more able and qualified is warranted. I don’t even have a model name for this shovel, all I know is that it was used in both World Wars…
The End
That’s all from me, thank you for reading, and I hope you will come to support the inclusion of a Italian shovel in the game, no matter what model that is. It is a very unfortunate thing, and yet more proof that Italy is (somehow) more poorly represented in the game than the Commonwealth.
