Here is an example of how one’s personal picks could look:

1. Introduction

This thread is based on the premise that I really care about WW2. If you don’t care about WW2, you won’t find this thread meaningful for you and that’s ok, to each their own.

2. Purpose

I strongly believe that T-26 in Berlin or King Tiger in Stalingrad is insane and I will never play those matches because I want to enjoy my time playing, not get irritated, so I quit 100%% of such games now, leaving my poor teammates in 9v10 situations – which I would prefer not to do if we had a Campaign+BR System.

3. Everyone wins

With the Campaign+BR Selection System all maps could be opened to all BRs if needed, potentially even improving matchmaking. Those who don’t know/care about WW2 will drive their Panthers in North Africa and be happy, and those who know/care will enjoy their matches and not quit.

3. Protection against exploits

One could argue that with such a system a player could e.g. just select BR2 army and ban every single BR3 and above map, thus always being the top dog in BR1-2 matches and never getting uptiered – in order to prevent this a rule could be set that you can’t ban every single uptier opportunity (or ban maximum 2 cells in each line) – at the end of the day the matchmaker would first decide if you’re going into a BR1-2 or BR2-3 match, so the chances of uptier/downtier would still be 50/50.

4. Wishful thinking – renaming “Moscow” into “Western Russia” and opening to BR4

The “Moscow” map set really doesn’t have anything fromn the city of Moscow itself (unlike Stalingrad, Rzhev and Berlin; plus the Germans never entered Moscow proper), so I think it could be reworked and renamed to “Western Russia”, represent the areas around Smolensk, Vyazma and Bryansk and be opened up to BR4 as that area did see both 1941 early war fighting as well as Panthers, Tigers, IS-1 and T-34-85 in the winter of 1943-44 (but not IS-2/Tiger 2 from BR5).

5. "This will increase wait time/I won’t be able to play my favorite map X on BR Y?

No, this can be a “soft rule” preference, meaning that if a match is not found with your criteria within X time, you’ll be sent to a match outside of your preferences (which you can always quit).

Looking for a match → being sent to BR 2-3 Berlin → quitting → looking for another match → being sent to BR 3-4 Stalingrad → Looking for a match is even longer wait time

PS: also, expanded on the “Preference” concept here – if no match is found within X time, player gets sent to an unpreferred match.

All good but I am not only sure about low BR Manchuria, in my opinion it should be high BR just like Berlin but a low BR map could be created out of existing assets to represent those early battles of Soviets and Japan, either Lake Khasan or Khalkhin Gol

Well, first of all with a Campaign+BR Preference anyone would be able to select what they prefer, not just what I suggested as the example.

And secondly, Manchuria was in fact fought with BT, PPS, Type 100 and Arisaka rifles – most definitely not with AS, RD, Type 2 AR, Su-9 or Hori.

To me personally that wouldn’t make much at all, because even BR 1-2 bracket is already full of 1943+ and lend-lease items, so “Khalkhin Gol” where Soviets drive 1943 T-70, use American bazookas and MP-40 captured from the Germans in 1939 is just defeating the purpose of creating a Khalkhin Gol 1939 map.

But ultimately – a preference system would allow exactly that – don’t like it don’t play it.

Choice is indeed good.

I have no problems with opening more campaigns to more BRs, I would just like to retain the right to say “no” if that is done.

I know I was playing low BR Germany because I didn’t want to fight in Berlin, and because I wanted to be able to fight in Tunisia, half of that is gone now.

First of all, currently there aren’t enough gamers “enlisted” to support the way you described.
Then, the Japanese faction completely lost all the battle opportunities at level 5.
Finally, I don’t know how many players are at level 5. At least half You caused half of the players to lose more than half of the map directly
Only three maps: Berlin, Normandy, and Ardennes???
Such anti-commercial behavior will only kill the game.

Based on that, would you remove BR4 and BR5 Japan from the game? I would only leave them for Burma and Manchuria

And Manchuria should have been available to the USSR in BR4 and BR5, although the Su-9, R-44, Fedorov And As-44 The most other things were used in Manchuria.

It’s “preferences”, not “hard rule”.

It’s an example of how one could choose their preferences to be. If you like Japan BR5, you can acrivate Japan BR5.
Personally, I never play Japan BR 3-4 / 4-5 even now.

Every. Player. Can. Have. Different. Preferences.

If you wanted, you could activate all maps for all BRs for your own preferences.

Personally, I never play Japan BR 3-4 / 4-5 even now, but others are free to enjoy whatever they like.

Such a system already exists. It’s called the “Soft Historicity Rule.” But it works like a shit because there aren’t enough players online to make it work. You can test it out on the test servers, because God forbid you’ll encounter even one living person in battle there.

This game really needs such system but knowing devs, this is too much work for them and I believe they won’t even think about “possibility” of implementing such a thing

I was gonna make another suggestion about allowing players to have several loadouts within the same faction and BR for different campaigns:

E.g. you start the game as Axis BR3 and you have several BR3 presets

  • one with Pz IV H, Puma and VG1-5 – this one gets activated if you go to Berlin/Ardennes
  • one with full Italian squads and weapons – this one gets activated if you go to Tunisia
  • one with Pz IV F2, Stuka and G41 – this one gets activated if you go to Stalingrad/Rzhev
    etc.

I’m saying rename Moscow into Western Russia (1941-1944), and only then open it to BR4.

You’re saying “Tiger wasn’t in Moscow”.
