I just found out that the “event” squads are actually just basic, borderline bad units from the tech tree… Wouldn’t it have been easier to just integrate them there? Why not release squads for Japan, whose tech tree is in a pitiful state? Why bother making such a pathetic event with even more pathetic rewards? Basic weapons, basic squads, and apparently they don’t even have the event unit tag… So, when not even the silver rewards are attractive, is it even worth putting out an event at all?
I insist, they should stop putting out garbage, take a break from events, and just focus on working on something better… It’s not mandatory to release an event for every single commemorative day…

I saw what you wrote.
Players have been screaming out for re-releases of alt squads for a while. This is the devs delivering. Hence the alt Italian and British squads featured in the event.

Why not just release them in a different way instead of making it an actual event? Like a silver store for old legacy squads that they want to reintegrate. But if you make a whole flashy event where the rewards are pathetic, and the official justification in response is “players asked for old squads,” then it’s not really an event. If the devs want to fulfill those requests and don’t plan on doing anything other than bringing back old units, why turn it into an event in the first place?

Drip-feeding content is literally the core of any live-service game.
I’d rather have an event to work towards than just having all the content freely available at all times. There’s no fun, or grind, in that.

If someone wants to play the game, they will do so whether there is an event or not… This is proven by the fact that many people just play while completely ignoring the event. That’s my case, for example: I simply play when I don’t like the event, and if I happen to unlock a reward, it’s just a byproduct, not something I actively sought out.
Bottom line, an event doesn’t automatically mean people will play because of it. If they want to play, they will do it as usual. After all, the player base remains active regardless.
Anyway, from my perspective, it’s much better to draw people into the game with a decent reward—if not the squads themselves, at least the silver coins—to boost the player count for the duration of the event, rather than making it completely irrelevant to everyone. At the end of the day, this is more of a critique than a complaint. As far as I’m concerned, and I want to emphasize this, I will keep playing if I feel like it, rewards or not.
That’s the beauty of events. You get rewarded for playing even if you’re not grinding the FOMO.

Personally, I think they should’ve done an assault squad instead of a machine gun squad. We already have one in the TT. Seems like a waste.

well maybe they can change the event reward to assaulter they have the squad it wont be that hard to change the reward to assaulter from LMG.

This gives access to post-merge players to Legacy like squads and gives sub-faction like qualities to the TT…plus you can arm them on any BR…sweet!
Who cares…sub-faction squads…I want them all…now we can run 2 Italian MG squads.

No…they don’t have access to Legacy squads which these are kinda like. Now there can be an Italian and British sub-faction. Two squads in 6 days…nice! Keep them coming I say!

Same. I get the mentality of “instead of this give us something better,” but yer man literally said “instead of this give us nothing,” as if it’s taken the devs 3 weeks of crunch time putting this together that could have been spent on new maps or something. This entire event and squads was probably 2 hours of manpower and a 30 minute zoom meeting with CMs
So you’re saying there are no more squads of this type, or are you saying new players don’t have access to radio operators and machine gunners? Because last time I checked, I had 6 different types sitting in my reserve.
Because as far as I can tell, you can get the exact same thing right from the tech tree… Maybe the devs just love me and I have premium access.

There are but this is intended to give a full Italian AND British line-up, alongside the existing American an German one…therefore sub-factions. With another Italian MG squad you can now run 4 on any BR without event or Premium.
