A few hot takes

lets sweep aside the obvious issues like AI being shit because i dont have any ideas for that, and lets tackle something more manageable…

so what do we got to tackle? its this:
-soldier classes II and III being not worth leveling up
-OP weapon spam
-progression tree
-WP spam

for the starters, the soldier tiers II and III are obviously too expensive to level up, which is why players like me choose to just liquidate those soldiers ASAP, my idea is to lower the cost of leveling them up by 30%, and tie certain weapons to soldier tiers in order to give players a reason to get them;

  • rifleman I: kar98k
  • rifleman II: gewehr 43
  • rifleman III: FG42/II

with this idea, the system would work fairly simple, 1st tier is just ordinary boltaction rifles only, 2nd tier is semi auto rifles, and 3rd tier is full auto rifles, as you get higher tier soldiers, you’re rewarded with being able to use better weapons.

the OP weapon spam issue generally boils down to improper weapons restriction, my idea is to tie certain weapons to certain squads, so we dont wind up with 3 squads full of soldiers using the exact same auto rifles/smg’s

the idea is similar to the one above;

rifleman I squad cannot equip rifleman II’s and rifleman III’s, but it can equip tier II and III soldiers of other class thats unlockable within its squad upgrade tree.

so if someone has rifleman I squad, they can still put engineer I/II, at gunner I/II, assaulter I/II/III, or even sniper I/II/III , offering them combat effectiveness whilst making sure the player cant equip the entire squad with the spammable weapons.

next on: progression tree
many people really dislike it, including me.
the best solution to this is to complicate the situation even more than it already is, separate the weapon progression tree from levels.
so you can separately research the weapons, and separately unlock squads, so the max level (level 40) wont be filled up with stuff like guns and vehicles, but more squads.
and these squads would be tied to certain weapons, so again, we dont wind up with op weapon spam.
so only one squad out of the entire arsenal of squads will be able to be completely filled with top tier weapons of certain type, lets say PPSH41 for example, any other squad will only be able to have 1 or 2 PPSH41 depending on the squad upgrade and which soldier class is unlocked for the squad in squad upgrade.

fyi: tackling down top tier weapons, making them hard to obtain and limiting their usability within squads will make people rely less on pay-n-spray tactic, and instead they’d actually make their shots count with boltaction rifles and semi auto rifles, and other weak weapons, its more fun rather than barging in a building, spraying lead everywhere, then just leave.

WP spam as we all know it, is annoying and a cheap tactic for free kills

my solution is to be able to carry only 1 per entire squad regardless if you add in a grenade pouch or not, considering just 1 WP grenade does alot of damage, any more than that is practically pointless.

What about the people who have “obtained” everything.
It’s hard to take all the toys out from people who really run the battles.

I could give my stuff away but for what in compensation?
Would not like to have some stupid stickers to vehicles or something else silly.

If this would truly happen the people i mentioned earlier could still have best possible teams that are available and the rest casual turds still would suffer the same issue.

not really, the squads who have weapons which wont be used under the new system will just be greyed out, those greyed out soldiers wont be usable until you un-equip whats not compatible.

to me, the most fair thing is to give you silver orders, maybe even a gold order per certain amount of weapons given away

it entirely depends on what people, rarely do i ever see anyone hoarding tier II and III soldiers.

I just can’t see way out of this if its a mess or not.
It might be beyond repair.

I still have so much gold orders that i could buy half the stuff again.
And for that silver orders i have them for whole planet.

But yeah i dont mind what ever the fixing will be.
I just care that the game has something to progress or i get bored to death.

For progression tree, I think they need to do branch offs per level, rather than splitting things

that honestly might the best situation as others could lead to DF increasing the grind exponentially

eh, in a way they could do it, like have a main level unlock, then have a sub-level (optional) for unlocking. but splitting is basically like branch-off imo

id mostly want the custom games to be more profitable for grinding at this current stage of the game, considering i dont feel like dealing with wp spam, auto weapon spam and so on in the matchmaking

Well the difference with what I said is its only a side unlock for the level, rather than a different line that requires me to unlock which is AKA more grind

So if the devs decide to add new not as OP stuff, it could get tacked on to a single level which the players can chose to unlock if they want. A tree requires me to now go down multiple paths for multiple levels to unlock something I want.

branch-off per level sounds ideal, especially if the branch-offs offer us specific weapons, for example the rifleman I squad would have a branch-off for all kinds of boltaction rifles, each being a optional unlock. but i get the feeling that if this is implemented, we’d get gaijin’d and they’d just increase the xp requirement per level that branches off

You are forcing people to use high level squad in order to use high level weapon, means that they need to grind to up level those squad, it will be very painful to do so. Please don’t increase grind for player already.

but its also painful for beginners to counter those same auto weapons, especially since matchmaking isnt balanced, you could have one team being mostly beginners, and the other team being mostly max level tryhards.

also there isnt any better way of making soldier II and III worth getting, the main initiative for players is to get those OP weapons, so why not restrict them to tier II and III soldiers, you would see way less of them per match

Forcing them to grind more in order to get best weapon will only increase the gap between max level player and beginner.

This is not important in the place.

You will only be pissing off player, because they need to grind a new squad for the weapon they just unlock.
The grind is already hard, please don’t add more grind.

i mean it will, but its just that you will see way less of those max level players spamming their 3 squads full of fg42 II’s and MP43’s.

so remove, then?

no. i would mostly be pissing off sweaty tryhards who rely on OP weapons.

There are better way like restricting the number of op weapon you can bring.

Just leave it there some people like the default perk on them and they have more perk point.

No you will be pissing off F2P player who need to grind for days in order to use that weapon.
Meanwhile, premium player may just buy the squad upgrades to use it right away.

Very well said, if you have grinded an entire campaign for weeks and months I think you have earned the right to dominate on the battlefield, get 1st place on the scoreboard every game, equip your squads however you wish, I don’t play fps games for a fair game, I play to dominate, be number 1 every game you queue into, it’s fullfilling and a testament to hard work and skill, to strip that away and punish hard work for fairness and teamwork and equal footing is not something I wish Enlisted to become, I want to relax and play how I want when I hit the max level in campaign, you have already suffered by then with limiting factors and weapons, the high-end equipment is the reward, and new players should have to grind aswell as I did or it’s not fair.

Limiting weapons to different soldier tiers would be devastating to my current setup of soldiers and squads I have built, I have only focused on getting 16 vitality on all soldiers and it takes alot of silver orders and patience to get good soldiers with the randomness to the system.
I have tier 1 Assaulters, Riflemen, AT-Gunners, with the equipment you unlock at the last levels of a campaign, if this bad suggestion became a reality I would have to start all over again with nothing, as of right now I have 0 Silver Soldier Orders and campaigns finished all over the place, it would be a nightmare of a grind and I would probably quit the game forever if this became reality.

I think the way it works right now is completely fair, people that invest time into the game and grind get rewarded. You have to start somewhere, I have to grind new campaigns in the future, I have grinded campaigns from the begining before, it can be hard, it can be frustrating, when I start anew my game advantages is exactly the same as someone new to that campaign, no difference, but many people in this game don’t play very good and then they blame balance or the weapons, but I can do fine, get so many kills no matter what weapon I use, I love bolt-actions and they are my favourite, I think the people using last level equipment has earned it with current grind levels, atleast I understand that and respect them more than someone new who plays this game wrong or poorly. I don’t think automatic weapons is an unfair advantage when I play, I can counter it with bolt-actions even, you just have to play smarter and not rush into enemy crowds headfirst, take cover and automatic weapons won’t even matter as much as you think they do, use the bolt-actions strenght which is distance, mid to long range, practice accuracy.

your post is full of fallacies and internal contradictions, showing that these “solutions” do not solve the problems you yourself outlined. your solutions would lead to more grind and more separation between new and old players, making the game worse. not even talking about how “solutions” that are based on taking away stuff from people, are passive aggressive venting at best.

you also are biased in thinking “high level gear” = “sweats”
no, everyone who plays the game as f2p for 2-3 months will have at least one campaign faction complete high leveled (by playing only 10 hours per week, other people manage to make it in less than a month).

the fairest and best solution is to just reduce the exp cap from 180 000 to 144 000 for all end levels and reduce the squad grind by 25 %. this doesn’t take away anything from everyone and will make EVERY player happy.

i suggested that before, got ignored

yeah no, you gain very little for how much you grind right now, either the cost for bringing those soldiers up should go down or they should force players to get them

mind you, im a f2p player and im fine with it

the stuff wont be taken away from the player, the soldier with the wrong equipment just simply wont go to battle until his stuff is taken off of him, mind you he will still be able to use that weapon, just in a different squad.

most of the high level gear users ive encounters are nothing but sweats, ive rarely encountered a decent player

no, i think the overall cost should be reduced, shit like pistols should all cost 1 silver order, soldier II and III cost for leveling up should go down by 30%
another option to reduce grind is to make similar weapons optional to grind after each level, for example guns like kar98k and vz24, its practically the same shit, i think it should be branched off to the side after unlocking the kar98k.

and you still dont get that the beginners get left in the shitter if a top level player fights with only op weapons, and what do beginners have? practically nothing, how will they fight back when a super rare elite weapon gets handed out to practically every soldier on the battlefield, this bugged me since the start of berlin.

if the idea doesnt work, then the rare/op/elite weapons should simply be restricted either by soldier tier, or soldier class, or just 1-2 per squad, there is no alternative. i would gladly prefer at least some realism, not every soldier on the battlefield had the AVS36, or the FG42/II, or the STG44
