Who OK'd this? (experience from single-player matches NEEDS TO GO)

I like this game. I enjoy nearly everything about it (save for unrealistic pre-warning of art. strikes location). I enjoyed seeing the news & the log today on the custom-battles update. Then I noticed the giant, potentially game-breaking, flaw.

To cut the bs, in practice, the update introduced a single-player mode where you can play against bots. This of course, would be something everyone would welcome. It’s better than practice, you can test weapons against actual targets, explore the maps & so forth. And no one would prefer playing it over actual matches because no enemy vehicles, artillery, flamethrowers, mortars, etc. But the idea that you can gain experience the same as in a regular match against real players is completely absurd.

I hate to break the news but bots do NOT match up to players. Even the best AI imaginable probably wouldn’t. Allowing people to get exp from single-player matches will obviously lead to exploits. I know 90% of players disagree w/ me but I do like the hard grind. It makes the game interesting for longer and incentives me to play competitively. But what I’m sure everyone agrees with me is that they do not want everyone running around in matches w/ FG42s & Jumbos. With the ability to level up from single-player matches, even the worst players will be able to consistently gain experience & level-up easily by creating bot massacre-fest matches.

When I stopped to think, I was instantly able to figure out a exploit: the river crossing at Maisky Forestry Lone Fighters. Build an ammo box at the roof & the rest of the game is just target practice. Add to that possible experience bonus from a premium squad (like the BAR one), from premium time & from the extra exp cards. And the fact that you will always win and get even f**king medals (all of them) because you’re better… than the bots (Wow, I feel so proud of my accomplishment!) and you can get massive experience gains for little to no effort.

The base experience gain in these exploit matches does not tend to be higher than an average multi-player one because it is completely one-sided, but you can consistently get at least 10k exp as a free player every single match, and you will always win & get at least 1.5x modifier from medals, which is utterly stupid.

Besides the exp exploit, other unintended side-effects include ruining the balance w/ the exp cards (people will now always be able to choose a single-player exploit match w/ consistent exp gain to get the most out of cards) and taking away all the challenge from Battlepass tasks - need to kill 25 people w/ a flamethrower? You can do it in a few minutes against bots. Hell, you can go on knife killing-sprees, camp with a tank in maps like Ver-sur-Mer and the bots don’t do anything against you while you kill 100’s & so forth. The possibilities for exploits are endless. And, even worse, you can actually get bronze orders for weapons and soldier upgrades just by playing SP matches.

I was in shock when I noticed all of this. As a beta-tester, I feel I have to say this is terrible for the game and goes against all which I thought was the policy and monetization model from this game. Adding exp in these single-player matches will make experience in the game increasingly worthless… everyone will easily be able to level up, so buying premium time becomes pointless. Besides, it will take away players from regular multiplayer lobbies, decreasing the amount of people playing them and making bots in regular matches an even more common occurence. The game will become, in fact, almost completely a bot-shooting simulator. This is extremely alarming.

It is so terrible that exp gain from single-player matches needs to be instantly removed before more damage is done (with players exploiting it to gain obscene amounts of exp while it is still up), even if it is to be reintroduced later.

To sum up, my suggestions to fix these issues is to **REMOVE Experience gain from matches with less than 10 PLAYERS **. Or, if you’re going to insist on this, at least make the following polishes:

  • remove medals from matches with no other players/only bots
  • make experience bonus cards unable to be used in custom-battles
  • remove the bronze orders gain from SP matches (it destroys the game economy)
  • and, lastly, consider removing the 1.5x exp victory bonus if there are no/few other players.

Best regards,

don’t worry about this one, as it will be destroyed by the devs decision to make soldiers, and eventually weapons, only purchasable by silver orders

Stop spamming these threads. Custom games is the only way to play lone fighters or hardcore, people who are bored with standard squads mode should be able to level up.

You probably did not understand the post? Yes it is the only way to play LF or hardcore but it is not supposed to be a single-player mode where you play against bots only AND get massive exp from it by endlessly exploits and bot massacre-fest matches.

People who are bored with standard squads mode should be able to level up and play Lone Fighters… AGAINST OTHER PLAYERS, not against bots-only. Not gaining MORE exp and even medals by playing against AI than against real players.

And if you’re bored with that and want to play with bots only, you should play a single-player game. Not an online game like Enlisted. Not cheer for the complete destruction of the game’s balance by allowing people to get ahead of others by artificially creating easy matches against bots.

it is still a problem as it will enable people to massively level-up their soldiers (leveling up soldiers is pretty bronze-order expensive in the new system, I was out of orders and stacked a bunch today) and spam the purchase random weapons buttom to gain several high-tier items and item parts to upgrade them.

You literally just described LF. Even before this update there were barely any LF players lmao

I could ask the same of you but I already know the answer judging by the way you started your post, hopefully you don’t behave like this in real life or you could easily end up having a short one. I just don’t want to keep playing the same damn mode without friendly fire where bombers can just randomly drop on the point and be fine. I’m not that interested in playing without hardcore mode anymore.

Why would you even care about other people’s XP anyway?

You know the least skilled players can already do this, and probably no less efficiently, in standard lobby, right? It just takes time. I don’t see how this is any worse than whales spending hundreds of dollars to skip the grind entirely.

There is no balance to the XP cards, and there never was. They don’t affect gameplay.

you mean the ones I and many others skip because they suck? Oh no, the game got more fun!

I respect this opinion, but this allows the game to cater to an additional audience: PVE gamers. The devs gain nothing by pandering to vets who’ve already maxed everything out, they don’t spend money, but new players do.

Buying premium has always been the bottom tier of pay to progress. For a lot more money, you can skip literally every progression system in the game. End game equipment, max level squads, all of it.

It already was. It a standard lobby, making an assumption for simplicity, if there are ten players per team, all playing maxed trooper squads, that’s 180 soldiers, of which only 20 are real people. In reality, standard lobbies haven’t been full most of the time, and some of those squads are all bots anyway.

Disagree, but I’ve already said why.

Why? They don’t do anything, and the XP bonus doesn’t stack. We don’t have player stat cards, there’s no prestige in it.

Again, why? you can stack them just as easily in standard lobbies, albeit for lesser results, but you can always just throw more money at that problem.

wouldn’t this be redundant if there’s no xp awarded for matches with fewer than ten players anyway?

Ad Hominem

I don’t see how bot lobbies imbalances the game any more than the monetization does.

So, it greatly benefits F2P players, who right now otherwise have an absolute shit time of things? Damn. That’s too bad. /sarcasm

This, all of this. I haven’t seen one well-written argument against XP rewards in custom lobbies. This mechanic doesn’t imbalance the game, gives new players and free players a much needed boost, benefits lone fighter mode and anyone bored with standard play, and hurts absolutely no one while it’s at it. I can’t figure out why people against this want to ruin someone else’s good time.

I agree with u, if anyone want to play LF mode there are a lot better game to play like Hell Let Loose or Post Scriptum.

Would in theory but it seems that mode is pretty much dead now since you can’t get games rolling when it requires at least 10 players to join on each side before the game starts for the maps not to be empty (20 bot limit). I’ve tried starting rooms but people just leave when I keep waiting for enough players to join. Lone fighters should have been kept in regular matchmaking.

Fair enough, LF was never my thing so I wasn’t paying much attention to how it was affected.

Neither of those are really the same as LF was intended to be, not really even close. Hell, if you want to play post scriptum, you’re practically required to listen to voice comms. It’s great if you get a decent lead and squad, but that’s not often.

Oh it’s been completely ruined. At least we have the squad hardcore mode now, the extra soldiers prevents the maps from being empty. It has good potential but it also has some issues. Your bots team kill and you lose points for it, the hud minimalism could use some rework (I’d like to see the soldiers in squad part of the hud). I wish the “hardcore” setting were more customizeable, would just turn friendly fire on, disable red glowing nades and remove kill cam.

I have play LF only 2-3 match, but it is not fun like Squads mode and make me feel like i play Hell Let Loose (but not that good graphic) so i stop play it.

Yeah, the squad mechanics are what drew me to the game in the first place but at some point I just got tired of seeing skulls every time I kill someone and having nade spam and bombers dropping without care for where their own troops are. The hud in “hardcore” is a bit too minimalistic though and the kill cam has unfortunately not been removed.

allowing squads to be like this too won’t fix anything and will downgrade the game

do you want to see every single player running around with FG42s and Jumbos? If people can get massive exp from single player exploit matches against bots, even the worst of players will be able to level up quickly without ever having faced a real player. A lot of the fun from the game are the historical loadouts and bolt-action gameplay… and it could all be ruined. It’s also not fair to the people who busted their asses to grind to their current level by playing much harder multiplayer matches just to get matched in level and equipment by stupid newcomers because they killed some bots in a no-loss ambient.

I should also repeat, you currently can gain medals even though you’re playing against no other player, and you always get the exp bonus from victory because you never lose against an all-bot team.

I don’t mean to be rude, but your replies and what you are asking show you have no clue of what is being talked here and the issue pointed out.

Why would you even care what other players have? As for FG42, the historical aspect was thrown out the window the moment they decided to let every trooper use it. With more options for customization, custom games could fix this. Historical loadout only as an option for example. If xp is removed from custom games people will just stop playing it and gaijin will cancel it.

Right now there are so many FG42 and Panther, u must see in the future there are most players will have FG42 and Panther or Jumbos and new players have no way to hide beside DEATH. Have or have not custom game, that is a fact we cannot deny.

So custom game is where new player can hide to grind XP, i think so, lol

and you want MORE of that? And with less time as, again, people playing against bots always gets 1.5x + 1.5x from medals and victory. There is no comparisson.

I’m talking about how players can now choose which match to use their exp cards on, while before they could only use them in the first match which was random and could be i.e a quick defeat giving low exp, now they can make a single-player match to use them and get massive exp.

yeah, let’s just downgrade the game. Who cares about features right?

again, you’re saying things are already easy so… you don’t even care if they get even further downgraded.

so because of that you want the option to play only against bots? Again, make things even worse rather than improving the game. And at the cost of completely destroying the balance of the game even when teams are properly manned by competent players. If you want people to able to level up from single-player matches, then they should only be able to use that level in other single-player matches, not on regular multiplayer lobboies.

They give 50% extra experience and they shouldn’t even be present in a match against bots because they are supposed to reward you for competing against other players.

I already explained how awful this is in a comment above.

Seriously, your reply and some others in this thread completely miss the issue and seem to be oblivious to or just completely ignoring the many problems pointed, arguing in favor of downgrading the game, even, at times and making it worse because ‘it is already bad, so who cares right?’. Such type of replying is just not constructive. Don’t spam the thread or argue for arguing’s sake if you’re going to say stuff like this. This makes you look suspicious, like a shill or someone deliberately seeking to undermine the game.

Again, you don’t seem to have read the thread properly. Nobody here is arguing for custom games to be canceled, what has been pointed is that experience gain in custom games that have only 1 player fighting against bots should be removed as it enables several exploits that allow people to cheat and level up much faster than if they played the game regularly. In another thread someone posted a 1.6 million experience gain from one such a match. If you think this is acceptable and balanced, I have no wish to further discuss with you. Please, make sure to properly read the thread and understand what is being talked in it before leaving a reply.

Dude… You are being a bit of a baby about this ngl. The XP gains from these matches STILL isn’t even enough from a F2P player’s standpoint to feel satisfying at all and is not even a lot. No player will be able to grind out the entire campaign lvl even in under a MONTH with this new system. Let alone a few months with all the damn XP that must be gained per level. Trust me man, I’ve been playing waaaay longer than you have and I’m barely lvl 15 in the Moscow campaign. Where I’m regularly at the top area of the leaderboard on the soviet side. So no man, this will not lead to these “XP Exploits” that you’re talking about. Sure, people may use this mode to grind XP. But it’s not gonna lead to people “skipping the progression” as you make it out to be

Also man, speak for YOURSELF when you say you think that the long and tedious grind makes the game more interesting. It doesn’t for everyone and especially for someone like me. Who has been here for a while and is still in the fucking low lvls bc I refuse to buy premium. The grind IS NOT fun at all with these huge ass XP bars and it is NOT fun to have to wait MONTHS to grind a single fucking gun
