This custom game with xp system is a double edged sword right there and it will hurt the game bad if not executed properly. Sure mowing down bots with a Maxim like in Red Orchestra 2 is a fun experience but it should not be the main way to play the game.
Honestly I don’t mind if this doesn’t kill the main squads mode but if majority of players play this over the main mode then we have a problem and should’ve made the xp gain less efficient. Sure it would mean less low level people with low level weapons to babysit with my elite squads despite not the perfect way as makes bolt actions optional.
How? You keep making that assertion, but I haven’t seen you make one argument supporting it that can’t be easily argued against.
You know that’s just a thing that will eventually happen, right? Everyone who wants them will eventually get PPSh and T50, FG42 and Panther, Jumbo and M1 Thompson. If there’s a lack of balance, it’s because those things being as they are or where they are is imbalanced, not because people are making progress.
How does people playing custom lobbies ruin your “historical” standard lobby experience? I’ll add that if something has ruined/might ruin the bolt gun dynamic, it was adding autoloaders in the first place. They can expand to WW1 if you want bolt gun gameplay, but that isn’t and never has been exclusively what this game is or was meant to be about.
It’s never been fair, we could always pay to skip the grind. People grinding bots are still grinding, just in a way that takes team skill and campaign balance out of the picture. You know, removes all the most frustrating bits.
You really shouldn’t have repeated that, because it literally doesn’t matter. Other than the XP boost from them, the medals as awards are meaningless, they serve only to stroke our ego while staring at the results. We don’t even have player statcards, so we can’t see how many we’ve earned after the fact.
Ad Hominem. C’mon, it’s the only logical fallacy expressly banned by the community guidelines. If we’re going to be illogical, lets at least get some of the others going.
Amen
It doesn’t matter if I want more of it, the devs like money. If custom lobbies gets more players, and by extension more potential paying customers, that’s what we’ll get.
I don’t see how this is anything other than a massive improvement. No more wasting my daily/battlepass boosters on defeats because the enemy team was better or my team performed poorly. Massive XP? Nah, the same as always.
Why would they not add a workaround for or remove a feature the playerbase doesn’t like? I’m beginning to think you’re opposed to people having fun.
I’m accusing you of gatekeeping. “I had to grind hours against players with better equipment than me” or “I paid a lot of money to get where I am in the game, why should they be able to do it for just playing” aren’t arguments against the thing you dislike, it’s asking the devs to make the new player experience worse than it already is because you don’t like the idea of someone having it easier than you which paying customers already do.
That’s not what I said at all. You’re making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. I’m saying that the majority of things you shoot at in squads mode are already bots. Shit, they even lean and dropshot. Again, gatekeeping. The only reason you want it to be harder for people who like PVE is because you didn’t have it so easy.
No, they’re supposed to reward you for playing well, and since most of your targets are bots anyway, there’s no real difference between a medal earned in standard vs one earned in custom.
Illogically, badly, and with at least a few insults thrown around. If you can’t argue your point without resulting to personal attacks, there’s no reason at all that anyone should take you seriously.
I could troll and just type “no u” here but this deserves a response. We’re not missing the issue. We’re disagreeing with you, and I at least am trying to explain why I believe the problem you’re trying to call attention to is a non-issue. If we can’t agree, fine, but if you insist on continuing at least make a solid argument instead of a list of empty opinions.
Ad Hominem. I promise, we understand what you’re saying, we disagree. Your arguments aren’t so well written that anyone with basic reading skills should agree without comment or question. Just because someone doesn’t like your opinion doesn’t make them stupid or illiterate.
This. If nothing else changes, with the recruitment monetization paywall in place I seriously doubt F2P players could max out a single campaign, troops, their equipment and all, within the expected lifetime of the game. Capitalism, though.
But the thing is is that I feel that people already knew that the custom lobbies were what everyone was going to flock to before we got them. I remember 1.) saying this myself as this update is exactly what I’ve been waiting for, and 2.) I know I’ve seen others saying that this is what they’re waiting for as well. In general I think this will just do good for the game in the long run more than harm it. It’ll bring new people in and have something attractive for them to stay for, while allowing them to gain XP in the process.
The XP gained in these matches is honestly nowhere near imbalanced and is just right imo. I’m earning basically the same(if not a little less) XP than I did in the standard mode. So I really don’t see the XP gain affecting much. But people will get bored of playing with the bots eventually honestly, which is where Squads will be, waiting for those who want certain(or a higher chance of) pvp.
Edit: But also I don’t see it as all that much bad that people flock to these custom lobbies. Especially since I believe you can indeed pvp in these lobbies am I right? With real human players on the other team right? I wasn’t actually sure of this so I thought I’d put it in the edit instead lol. If you can pvp in this mode then yeah, I really don’t see the problem with more people flocking to it :o
Apparently you did not read that thread properly then, the poster admitted to shelling out €150 in order to do so. This game is riddled with micro/macro transactions and nothing is going to stop a whale if he wants to max out all campaigns even if it’s the same day he just downloaded the game. He could have just outright bought the campaign levels.
That’s arguable, but not with personal attacks. Ad Hominem is just your favorite fallacy, huh?
Eh, we don’t have one of those in game. If they add paratrooper units for factions that had them, sure, put the FG on fallschirmjagers and the M2 carbine on the 82nd/101st, but until then making it an LMG choice is probably good enough.
i’m going to ask you this: if fg42 isn’t an issue then would you allow the allies to have their m2 carbine be replaced by the bara1 since both auto rifles are statically similar down to the dispersion values themselves?
I’ve always thought a special forces/commando unit would be a good idea, you could only get one of those squads and they are the only squad that can use rare automatic rifles/carbines like fg42, m2 carbine and avs36. Would be fair to give them more ammo as well then if they became that limited.
Special squad, special class, special weapons, I dig it. Could throw the Johnson LMG on that list, SF used them in Europe.
The ten round magazine for the FG42 existed historically, but so did the 20. Bigger problem is numbers. It was not a standard infantry weapon and shouldn’t be.
Rare in the sense that few of them, if any, saw service near the tail end of the allied push into germany. There’s some evidence to suggest that the field converted M1/M2 saw more use, but not a lot.
some since france was still being liberated in late 44 where you started to see army soldiers with m2s though they were field converted m1s so had the name m1/m2
I agree for both hand but seem like Deve @Keofox not like the idea “take down FG42 and change to another weapon” if they do they have already done it, so but 10 round magazine FG42 for trooper is easier to change. and that is nerf FG42 a little bit
I would love to have more constructive conversations but I don’t see anyone who can do that with opposite opinions.
So that’s what is left. And tbh, since I’m kinda “pro” player for this game, from my exp I don’t even see FG 42 as something special while I’m playing Allies. Americans hace a lot of good stuff so I don’t feel any imbalance. For Normandy biggest issue is playerbase balance that’s why his senteces look funny for me.
