Just from curiosity, what if Germans lost their FG-42s in Normandy and Berlin. Of course they would be weaker but how much weaker. And what if it was replaced by STG-44 or FG-42 was changed from rifleman to machinegunner class. This is “What if” type of post and it’s not a proposition of change.

I don’t think removal of such weapons is worth even contemplating. It won’t solve anything. A much better change would be to make all equipment appropriately rare on the battlefield. We already have a squad system, it can be used for so much more than just providing you with bodies to possess after dying.
Normandy would be fine.
In berlin the 2 german players that would still play would be assfucked by the commies even more than before (but the fg 42 II is overkill)

I think FG42 should be restricted, but in fairness I don’t equip my infantry just because I feel it is not realistic, just to my Paras…

if they had only allowed trooper to use semi & BA, this forum would be more peaceful
The limitations don’t even need to be that harsh. It’s possible to implement a fairly flexible system that would only limit the number of certain rare / powerful equipment pieces in each squad.
I would still perform like hell. 
Allies need the BAR for their troopers

So , I’ll assume a legit post about it.
Personal opinion is I would be fine to restrict it. It needs to be in game because it was a weapon that inspired future weapons greatly. We can’t discount that historical precedence.
I actually will borrow someone else’s idea and suggest a ‘Automatic Rifleman’ Class that can use it. Have one squad out of all the squads be able to equip it to a max of 4 Troops (like we currently do with Assaulters, AT gunners , etc). Then allow it as a specialty trooper in other squads.
Change the VG1-5 (for Berlin) to a Rifleman weapon instead of an Assaulter one (which is how it was in Alpha, and how it should have been from the beginning). Up the ROF on it and the G43 to compensate a bit for the lowered capabilities in CQC. No one ever complained about the G43, so it being a bit better would help compensate for that.
Could it work? Possibly. But it would need a bit of a rejig on the Allied side as well to ensure the balance didn’t shift too far the other way.

for me not playing with the best gear is not an option, meaning I will never pick a weaker option, now if you compare FG 42 with other german gear, than its 100% superior to every weapon besides the STG.
I would say the following options would equal:
-assault squad with STG and rest FG
-trooper squad with all FG
-support squad like pioneers with all FG
-MG squads before the nerf
now that the MG is more of a support unit, there is little reason to pick it since the FG does the same but without the movement penalty tho.
So, all that means if we remove the FG42, the only viable option that would be left is indeed the STG, nothing compares except some gold weapons, but thats not a spammable thing.
I think that there is one thing that keeps a game fresh, and thats multiple weapons to choose from, but as long as there is a meta, the game suffers.
Diversity is important, thus we need proper balance.
As long as the STG and the FG stay the way they are following weapons will not be used:
-boltaction
-Semiauto
-sniperrifles
-MGs
-smgs (besides ppsh with drum)
You see? There is no reason to use 90% of the weapons in the game, and that is just more than sad.

Would never end, exactly.
They’d nerf lmgs again to please the most “vocals” ones. Then they’d nerf perhaps stg (even before it’s released, ah!)
Then you’d end up with one side of players vs one side of bots.
But then! “Bots are op, nerf!!!”

Even if everything but the default rifle would be removed and their stats would be set equal there would be someone complaining that the other default rifle is better than his if he performs bad.

I don’t get it.
The game is so freaking nice to play. I love playing it so much and some guys always want to get something changed that they don’t like.
A lot of games have been nerfed to death because of the loudest voices and not because of the majority of players agreeing with their wish for change
