all weapons should have stamina drain relative to the weight of the weapon, including the bayonet and magazine
Yes. More realism is great.
What do you mean by “Stamina drain”. Drain the general Stamina bar? If that’s the case, I disagree. ADSing your weapon wouldn’t, in real life, affect your ability to run or jump.
Now, if you mean something like slowly degrading your ability to keep the weapon on target due to your arms slowly tiring out, as would happen if firing from standing up then that could be a thing.
over time it would, especially with the large wooden stock weapons
As someone that’s carried a Mosin 1891/30 in real life on many a long hunting trips, I can verify that the act of carrying the gun around doesn’t affect me in the least. Of course the rifle and it’s ammunition is extra weight, but not enough to affect me in a meaningful way.
To also be fair, 95% of the time in my experience in the game individual soldiers tend to be killed long before that kind of mechanic would have any real effect. Maybe Snipers or LMG players would see this mechanic, but people like me that do a lot of charging, running and gunning wouldn’t.
Simply carrying a weapon and running and gunning with it are completely different things.
fine, but did you march for 3 days and sleep on the group for only six hours and aim it while standing up, after sprinting and also under intense stress?
No, but did these digital soldiers in a video game also march for 3 days? Sleep on the ground for only six hours as well? If so, how do you know? Even if you knew, why would they simulate such a thing to that depth? Remember, we’re going for realism here, but it’s still a video game. I maintain my stance. This is a mechanic, FOR A VIDEO GAME, that is essentially useless and a detriment to the playability.
The whole point is trying to make the game more realistic.
But not unenjoyable and nearly unplayable. Which is what total simulation would do, and it would also drive off more casual and new players as well.
The whole point of this thread is trying to make the game more realistic, though. Tarkov is a more realistic game and people love it. Many people in that community also complain about running and gunning with mosins.
it would still be very much in line of being a video game, if a sniper cant just sprint 50 meters across the map and still be able to use the scope in any sense
Also, using this argument that “it’s just a video game” helps nobody. At that point, why can’t all soldiers just fly like birds? It would be more fun, and after all, it is just a video game.
But we’re not talking about Tarkov, are we? we’re here, talking about Enlisted.
This is true, running and gunning with Mosins is a bit silly. But that can be fixed by having decreased accuracy for weapons like that say…a couple of minutes after running or sprinting, you try to ADS and it takes your soldier a second or so to line the sights up properly to simulate heavy breathing. That would work just as well.
Why can’t soldiers just apply some gauze after taking a full sized rifle round to the arm, then stand back up and be great? Why can’t they fall from a second story window, grunt in pain, but have no broken bones and just keep fighting? Why have a health bar?
Oh wait…they do… I suppose we should also remove all of this as well, unrealistic.
We are talking about videogames and them being more realistic. You are the one that suggested more realism would be “unenjoyable and nearly unplayable”. I responded that Tarkov is a more realistic game and it is very loved.
I never argued that the healing mechanics in the game were good or realistic, man. This thread is about making the guns in the game more realistic. In fact, I have plenty of ideas that would make health mechanics and healing in the game a lot more realistic and favorable.
See, arguing with commies is useless. They just do all these mental gymnastics and twisting to try and convince themselves that they are right.
Whats this then? I thought we were talking about videogames as a whole being more realistic. Even so, you’re still missing the point.
There is a fine line between realism and playability. There’s a reason why weapons in any shooter you play don’t jam and things like that. Because, while that’s realistic, it affects the game’s playability. I like realism too, which is why I’m not playing Call of Duty and I’m here. But there are some mechanics and some aspects of actual combat that just don’t make sense in the context of a video game. This, in my opinion, is one of them. Take it or leave it.
See? More twisting and purposely misconstruing what I am obviously saying. Also, yes, guns do jam in Tarkov, and I have argued that they should jam in this game.
