We need tank supoorting infantry

Teamplay is completely lacks in this game .
Normally, tanks dont move individually in war.
They have armored battalions consist of radio operators, scouts, engineers outside of tanks and infantry support for possible sneaky attack from enemy infantry ( like explosives) .
Nobody try to cover ally tanks from flanking infantry.
If real players dont have any intent to do this, bots can.
Give 3-4 bots that a floows tank right behind it.
I propose additional “repair the tank” order like “give ammo” or “heal me”
And can/ maybe kill 1-2 sneaker from rares at least
Their ideal positions are at rare or just behind the tank

I dont see bots being anything more than fodder.

As it is experienced “aggressive” tankers will follow the main push in for best chance against flankers (yes aggressive tankers do exist)

And you can pop top with your smg to deal with sneakers. Its pretty fun

With teamwork in mind, i equip all my engineers with tool kits aswell

Bots being fodder first is better than TANKS being fodder first at battle.
This is why most tanks designed to have engines at back but crew at front.
Tank itself is more valuable than humans.
Losing crew or supporting infantry is better than losing tank or its engine.
Only exception of it is israeli tanks

Although, it would be kind of cool having bots riding on top of your tank that could shoot. Like in the cars

Tanks and any vehicle should function as mobile ammo boxes just like in Squad.

Sdkfz like vehicles can carry ammo box but tanks have ammo boxes ?
Did you see any tanks inside ?
Or how narrow and clostrophobic it is ?

While lack of support is an issue, its preceded by the issue that there is very little reason for tanks to push up. Currently there are absolutely no situations in which pushing up with a tank is the ONLY real solution.

  • Tanks cannot capture objectives
  • There are no fortifications that tanks can get through that infantry cannot (This would be significantly different if all fortifications couldn’t be broken down by hand by all types of infantry.)
  • There isn’t enough time usually for defenders to set up fields of barbwire, so tanks usually aren’t needed to push across fields
  • Tanks currently cannot set off AP mines by driving near them, so a minesweeper function is not available
  • Even if it minesweeping were available, there is very rarely enough mines being set in approach areas (mostly due to lack of time to set up) to make it necessary
  • Despite MG nests being quite useful, they are completely overshadowed by HMGs now, which can mess up many tanks even from the front. So trying to protect infantry as a shield basically is non-existant.
    All these issues and more is what leads to tanks sitting in the back of the map.

So until these are addressed, I really don’t see them making a change to tanks like you are suggesting, simply as it would only make them harder to kill in the greyzone too.

Solution is simple
Remove greyzone alltogether and just put map border like most games do
Open all map for playing

It would be nice if people could use/shoot the mgs on the top of the tanks like the 50.s on the American tanks.

I agree, and that would also help with the infantry factor as that players AI would then follow also.

Well depending on the given situation and what I’m feeling sometimes I directly support vehicles as infantry following and protecting them

Supporting a tank would mean staying in greyzones.

If changes were made like I pointed out, that might change.

Yes, completely agree. Players should be encouraged and rewarded just as well, if not more, for supporting their team as opposed to getting kills

Part of the reason people lose games is because they’re so dead focused on their own stats and kill count. Which is in turn an issue with progression and grinding. It’s so slow and tedious that people just become absorbed by it.

Scouts would actually be a kinda cool class, even if they aren’t super useful. They could have advanced marking capabilities and would probably carry carbines, shotguns, or light SMGs.

Could also give AI more capabilities inside the tank, like operating hull MGs. I don’t think this would be too difficult since aircraft gunners are already a thing. Same concept, basically.

I have seen pictures of tanks with lots of cargo on the back. (I can’t find that photo, so I’ll post a picture of the plastic model.)

Perhaps those are bullets for machine guns mounted on the tanks, etc., but I think it would be OK to carry infantry ammunition in this.
It would be nice if someday, in the customization elements of the tank, we could choose to put up additional armor, ammo boxes for infantry, medical supply boxes, etc.

I did suggest this, right after the mech walker event. In the event you could toggle area flamethrowers on and off. I think toggling the machinegunner of the tank on and off should be an option.

If its on, it behaves like a normal bot would and can pick up on targets moving nearby.
If its off, the player directly controls it like it is currently.
