We need tank supoorting infantry

you know, ever since people on this forum kept crying about the need for “bigger maps” the devs delivered with maps that completely lack structure and a frontline.

Just look at Stalingrad, you can literally be 300 Meters away from the objective behind enemy lines and waste everybody’s time.

On regular maps like old school Moscow ones, you are always supported by infantry because they spawn right behind you and keep pushing - which is the perfect way tanks are portrayed - behind the infantry functioning as mobile fire support.

Yep, this and walker spawn points are the worst things for enlisted.

also, greyzones are dead, most maps had their greyzone and tank spawns adjusted to be way further behind the objective.

Except not really. Maybe in Pacific but I dont play Pacific so dont care.

Stalingrad and the Pacific had their greyzones always set far behind the objective so that you can basically spawntrap enemy tanks. Normandy and Moscow still have somewhat good map design, but even there you can as a tank get behind enemy lines, set up an ambush and spawnkill enemy tanks - depending on the map of course.

now well … you know, this is not really a issue if the map design is done properly like “not allowing the greyzone to give you also vision to the objective” or “not allowing the enemy to push far into the enemy lines and ignore the objective to spawn kill the enemy” - or as I have just stated, have a map with a proper frontline where you have infantry support always close up.

Think first time someone praises Normandy maps.

I mean, maybe I should have excluded those beach maps, but yea you get the idea

The thing is though that larger maps aren’t just for tanks to make use of. The engineer’s field gun would be a lot more useful if there were areas around the edges of the map that a tank would have trouble getting to, but a squad of infantry could and set up field guns for support from there.

The Gorge map of Tunisia is a PRIME example. I’ve heard tons of people say that often times as attackers they feel like the normal strategies don’t hold up very well, and they are right, as the map actually has decent design for defense. However, there are long distance areas atop hills that you can make use of the field gun and AA, and actually make an incredible difference. These areas cannot be reached by tanks.

At least with the field guns they are much easier to eliminate than tanks, as they can be countered by AT, Tanks, Aircraft, Snipers, or simply flanking.
