Even with the buff on (some) premium squads with the increased squad size, i still find premium squads not worth buying, especially considering their high price.
I’m fine with the -1 soldier on the assaulter/machine gun squads, but I don’t like how I can’t swap the main weapon.
Now I understand why you shouldn’t be able to put a premium gun on a tech tree squad. Some premium weapons are too powerful for their BR (such as the 7.63 thompson). But I don’t get why you aren’t allowed to swap the premium gun for a tech tree gun.
Now why do I want Enlisted to allow you to swap the premium gun? Well for example, the BR3 premium squad for Japan has a mediocre BR3 submachine gun and it really isn’t fun using, at least in my opinion. In addition, that premium squad is the only premium assaulter squad, so players can’t play ANY premium assaulter squads for Japan on BRI - II
This also applies to vehicle premium squads. I would literally buy an american premium tank squad just to replace the british uniforms on the Tanker II tech tree squad, and I’m sure someone out there would buy a british premium tank squad to replace their usa tech tree tank squad
Some other additions that I think could make premium squads more worth buying:
Idk how to explain so Imma give an example: buying a premium assaulter squad will allow tech tree assaulter squads to purchase the cosmetics from that premium squad.
Allow players to replace all premium soldiers with their own soldiers
Add the engineer / engineer or at gunner for all infantry premium squads
For the high price they ask for squads, my personal belief is that the buyer should have the option to change weapons on these squads. I mean, they gave this option to the Soviets paratrooper squad, so why shouldn’t this option be made to ALL squads?
I only buy squads I plan on using, and sometimes you buy a squad and find out the gun sucks, which now makes the squad worthless. Some premium squads you can change the ammo pouch to secondary weapon and it is savable, but you shouldn’t have to do that if YOUR PAYING FOR IT! You’re screwed with the weapon provided if you buy a Medic or paratrooper squad (unless it’s soviet)
I have several squads I would LOVE to use in other BR levels, but can’t because your stuck with the DF weapons loadout. I would love to be able to change the weapons to my US level five paratroopers and use them at level two, where I play most often. If they were Soviets, I can do it, but not with my Allies. Germans, yeah, I can use them at every level, but I am locked into level one smg’s because in DF’s infinite wisdom, THEY ALSO do not have changeable weapons loadouts like the SOVIETS do. If I could change the weapons loadout, I could have dumped my crappy MP18 smg’s from my MP18 squad, gave them MP34’s and used them in level one, where I want to use them.
One last thing. NO Premium squad should come with LESS then five soldiers. Some only have four, WTF is up with that?
Because people would then want to equip a premiums squad weapon to a tech or event squad, as long as premium weapons are limited to premium squads up it should be fine to allow premium squads to be armed with tech tree or event or bo weapons
Maybe an alternative would be (meeting the devs halfway here) like a BRII gun for all BRV premium squads. Just like generic bolt action for engineers, MP40 for Para, etc, that is preinstalled especially for high BR squads that they can switch to.
So that you can switch to the generic weapon so they could be used on a lower BR.
But honestly, it aint going to happen. You see, they get to sell things twice this way. For instance, para for BRI Germany and BRV Germany. I have the BRV version and cant play bellow BRV, paying twice and getting the BRI version would allow me to do that.
Basicly, I would have to pay twice.
Why the Russian one is able to change BR is because it had a generic TT weapon, so dev lazyness, on accident, gave us a very strong premium squad.
And squads only having 4 soldiers is dumb and should be changed. Such lazyness on the devs end there.
simple answer. cause it would make having loads of premium squads kinda irrelevant. you could buy cheapest 2-3 squads and have squads for grind on all BR. they want people to buy 2-3 squads for every BR so you end up buying at least 14-15 squads per faction.
But as I said earlier, the premium gun would be locked to that squad. So if that squad has a powerful weapon for that BR, then the player will still want to buy it
And also I mostly play on one BR, and I’m sure a large portion of the community does as well.
and how many good weapons can DF actually produce? they are not unlimited. also it would make game even more p2w if only incentive to buy premium squad is how OP it would be.
well veteran players know that, but newbie would just equip weapons as they unlock them. so if newbie wants to have same efficiency as they had with starter squad, then they would need to buy more high leveled premium stuff to keep the efficiency. if cheapest squad can have same efficiency as most expensive squad, DF would lose lot of revenue unless they made those expensive squads p2w.
This should have been the main selling point of such squad.
Cosmetics are always in every free to play game the best and fairest way to generate money, content locked behind a paywall always has the potential to create unfair advantages - even by accident.
If I had the option of changing my weapons loadouts of my premium squads, the vast majority if not all of them would end up with tech tree weapons. Example, the level two German MP18 squad would end up with MP34’s and be locked into my level one German squad lineup. I have a couple level two Soviet premium medic squads, which would be armed with PPD34’s and I could build a level one faction. So, I wouldn’t have a problem if DF unlocked these squads and limited them to tech tree weapons if people were opposed to letting them use other premium weapons, or vise versa.
I wrote a topic and even received a response.
“This was considered and rejected.”
I think if we continue to create such topics and actively support them, the developers might change their minds.
It’s a shame that an interesting form is simply isolated behind one squad with a weapon that may turn out to be mediocre. And there is no way to combine clothes from different squads.
I still cant believe that just us few whales are more lucrative to the devs than regular players spending here and there 5 or 10 dollars for some cool stuff.
