I think it’s time to give the ground vehicle slots their own spawn timer.
We all know that HE spam is a problem right now in Enlisted. Especially in high BR matches (4-5)
This wouldn’t be a total fix for that problem, but would at least eliminate team’s ability to spam HE slinging tanks quite so much.
When a vehicle occupying a ground vehicle slot is destroyed, that slot should go into a 90-120sec cooldown before another ground vehicle can spawn and take that slot again. There’s just no reason we should destroy two enemy tanks near simultaneously, get on the point to capture or defend, then get HE slapped by two NEW tanks 15sec later.
The combined arms aspect is what makes Enlisted good. I’m not saying we remove tanks from the game. Just make them less spammy. All the tactics in the world can’t overcome a defending team that prints two new Tigers 10sec after you killed the two that were shelling the objective with HE.
You’re either not playing the game or hiding in low BR if you don’t think HE spam is a problem in Enlisted right now.
I am sorry but in this game tanks die when you sneeze at them the wrong way so a long cooldown would effectively remove them from the game.
Even infantry gets plenty of tools to deal with them directly (killing it) or indirectly AKA just dont push into its LOS/ spam his position with radio/mortar smoke.
And it is kinda telling that this is only supposed to hit ground vehicles and not planes when they can be equally as toxic but without as many counter.
Talk about hypocrisy, it’s the planes that get circled not just by a team but the same people over and over again as they have zero counters absolutely none as current buildable AA is just pathetic vs planes that fly at speed of over 700km/h.
While tanks are extremely vulnerable when get closer, some maps have bad design and let them greyzone camp and have clear vision of the cap point but others they force them to get close.
Only few changes are needed to make them easier to kill, guerillas need to be able to go deeper into greyzone and getting killed by stupid infantry spawn ring which is often occupied by enemy tanks.
Some maps need to be reworked and infantry need more cover while tanks need to be forced to move closer.
You have to return to air spawn and re-arm every time you drop your payload, which for non-jets means 30-60sec of that plane being out of the fight to go re-arm.
I agree that some of the maps are the problem, however. Tanks should not spawn 10 meters from perfect LOS to the objective.
I’m also on-board with the Guerilla buff, especially getting rid of the spawn zone ring. Their whole point is to be there, why punish them for doing it?
Using that logic tanks also have a cooldown as they need to go back to the resupply point. P47 is not forced to use all their payload in single strafe run you can do it in two parts and get even more kills.
thats how other games like battlefield do it, and Ive never minded it in the past. Except you will have players sitting in the spawn menu waiting out that timer (even now with planes at the start of the match you see it)…often multiple players competing for the slot which will really fuck up the small teams of Enlisted (its also boring). That and some people just want to tank, some just want to fly…its a multi faceted game
I think there are other avenues to address this HE spam while still being able to spam out vehicles
Tank Spawn delay at start of the match (30-60 seconds)
Bigger Ojective zones, more spreadout so HE cant deny most of it
Vehicle Spawns further back and with no LoS to objectives requiring some travel.
Airspawn delay (specifically fix pacific allies no delay)
Airfileds/Further back/different Altitudes for different types/ further back resupply point (these are all delay mechanisms)
Stuff like that
HE SPAM is so effective because everything is compressed into small areas…small maps, small objectives, small play areas.
Yeah, the jets are a problem with that. Prop planes take some time to get back and forth, but the jets do it in 10-20sec. Too fast of a turnaround in my opinion.
I like those proposals. Map changes are almost always a better option, when viable. Feels less invasive to game mechanics and also makes the game feel a bit more fresh if the changes are really noticeable. Not as much as whole new maps, but you get the idea.
Tanks spawning further back with no LOS would work as a pseudo-cooldown. Great idea
You’re talking about 8 rockets and a single bomb vs 30-40 HE shells + coaxial MG. They’re not even remotely similar in output.
Not to mention the maps that give LOS from the resupply point, where tanks can sit with infinite ammo and shell the objective. Which is almost every Pacific map.
You’ll be lucky to see 20-30 kills in a P47 run… 35 HE shells only getting you even 50 kills would mean you suck.
If it even works. Sometimes they print new tanks just as fast as you can kill them. Especially defense teams with no tickets to worry about. And all it takes is 1 unfortunate HE shell to send you back to the spawn screen. Try to set up again, get shelled in your spawn, and the cycle begins.
And then gains players, because of the droves of people that don’t play passed BR2 because the HE is already OP there. Instead of people trying the game, exploding to grey-zoners and quitting, we actually gain players
