Unnecessary Shotgun Nerf

** TOZ-B and Luftwaffe Drilling M30:*

    • The amount of buckshot per shot has been reduced from 24 to 12 and corresponds to other pump-action shotguns.*
    • The damage from buckshot hits has been changed from 4.5 to 2.4.*

Well not much to discuss here. They were nerfed to what? 25-30% of their base dmg value?

And for a moment I tought Gaijin wanted a different kind of FPS…
What I loved about shotguns in this game was the way they behaved like ““real shotguns””" - You could kill enemies with it that are not POINT BLANK RANGE like most games.

Still, they are no better than SMG’S, I had only 1 assaulter with a shotty just because its fun - Now I’ll probably not use it.

Period.

ya the shotguns were great but lowering damage is a big nono

lowering buck count is a bigger no no

its now basically useless

no reason to do this in a game where a bolt action rifle 1 shots in close quarters

I wanted to outfit my flamer squad with shotgun assaulters but i really dont know what AI effectiveness with the weapon is

anybody know?

When I tried berlin lately engineers with shotguns were really good. Can’t tell after update.

Considering AI smg effectiveness i doubt you’ll have much luck

They had 600 damage close range
20 to 30 percent as u state, it’s still a 1 hit kill close.

Only in berlin. And it was the ultimate squad back then.

from what i understand the AI cant do automatic weapons well. Im pretty sure its the recoil. Like the AI does not compensate so the second shot misses.

so the reason machine gunners get like 4 kills every time is the first shot always hits but because of the damage the kill is bascially assured

All single shot high damage weapons are great with ai. Like the winchester

I just asked if the AI use the shotgun well since its a single shot high damage weapon

“close range” being point blank where you may as well use a knife.

They were somewhat passable at 15-20m before, though not ideal.
With this damage you can barely tickle someone standing across the street from you, which isn’t realistic.

It was over 2400 damage point blank before, and now it shows 345…

So actually their damage may have been nerfed more than patch notes say.

Though I forget the exact actual old damage value, we can see that 2400 * 0.5 * 0.53 = 636, which further divided by 2 gets us close to current 345 value… there’s a hidden third halving of the damage, unless the old statcard value was showing twice as much potential damage as they actually had.

edit: Of course there is the possibility that I misremember the old damage value, or maybe it was corrected while I wasn’t looking at the gun anymore - some reddit thread from a month ago quotes the damage as 1296.

Rifles just do 10to15 damage at. Most and are still 1 hitkill.

But most of the time my Shot-guy would grab its pistol instead XD

Well, each pellet had 4.5 dmg… so around 3 pellets to kill (from 24)

Thing is, it has spread, so after around 30m you had to be lucky, but sometimes you could score kills at around 50m.

Now i doubt that after 15-20 you ll get something since you have to hit at least 5 pellets FROM 12 - almost half of it.

Feels reasonable enough to still be worth to bring a shotgun on secondary slot.

It certainly doesn´t feel like it… at all (at least for TOZ-B). I´m often unable to kill even on point blank range and distance of 5 meters while shooting enemy soldier in the back…

Sometimes it works, but it is extremely reliant on luck and definitely not worth it.
Post nerf shotguns are completely useless.

I wonder who was asking for this, feels bad and totally unnecessary. The SMGs were already so much better.
