I know dude. I have no soldier with secondary weapon right now. Was just a sarcastic way to put it in.
I managed to score few very good hits with them leading to oneshot, but most of my hits were met either with downing soldier on close range or outright white markers (aka low damage). They were very situational before nerfs, now it is made worse.
In overall while they can kill, they are not worth of taking as secondary slot instead of backpack on assaulters, and are definitely not worth taking instead of SMGs.
I was able to snipe people with the shotgun before. Havenāt had the chance to try it since the nerf. But I think this was much needed change.
You could kill from around 50m and that is OK, real life shotguns do that.
But it was not better than a Rifle of course
And never better than SMGās
In a game that has 1HK to body rifles its ok to see shotties working that way, guess you are too used to COD-BF shotgun mechanics

12 pellets at 2.4 damage each adds up to 28.8 damage, not 345.6 damage like it shows ingame.
However, a TOZ-B comes with 2+12 ammo, and 28.8*12 = 345.6
I think they nerfed shotties after seeing how ~25% of Soviet deaths in the 1st stage of Berlin were caused by the M30, which was, surprise surprise, wielded by⦠25% of soldiers.
They really should stop using raw metrics as their reasoning behind balance changes. I donāt want another āGermany suffersā thing like in war thunder.
That might be the case, because M30 was surprisingly accurate during Berlin test. However, that is not the case with TOZ-B where longer range kills usually taken multiple shots (as they should gameplay wise) and relied on luck.
Right now, unless enemy stands right in front of you (2-3m range), you are reliant on luck whether shotgun kills or not (that is at least the case for TOZ-B)⦠(as I said, I even had battles where I aimed across the room in Pokrovske city, and got āwhite marker hitā on the enemy) which is pretty pitiful performance.
In overall, it can be compared to the first US shotgun in CBT where you needed multiple shots to kill the enemy. However, even on the said browning shotgun (or whatever that was) small buff in damage should have been in place⦠and that thing had 5 shots, not just 2.
The Shotgun nerf is the first disappointment Iāve gotten from an update. Please revert it, it was perfect. Strong at short to medium range, with needing two hits from range to down a player.
As it stands, it is now completely unused. A waste of your efforts and labor. Common Gaijinā¦
