Time to Rethink Some Classes

Balance & Variety: How to Breathe Life into ‘Non-Meta’ Classes?"

Hey there, soldiers!

Right now in Enlisted, many classes are left in the shadows due to the brutal META, which kills gameplay variety. Let’s discuss some ideas to make underused squads—like medics, machine gunners, snipers—more flexible and useful, while also improving logistics for motorcycles and armored cars.

1. Medic – A Second Chance for the Last Man Standing

Problem: Medics aren’t impactful enough since they lack an engineer/AT soldier.
Proposal:

  • Allow reviving ONE squadmate (the last one you controlled).
    Conditions:
    • 15-20 sec timer after death.
    • Doesn’t work if killed by a headshot (Battlefield style).
This adds strategy without making them OP.

(“No more ‘oops, my whole squad’s gone’ moments!”)

2. Machine Gunner – Ammo Support on the Go

Problem: MG gunners are too dependent on engineer boxes.
Proposal:

  • Let them toss small ammo pouches (3-4 uses per battle).
    Refill mechanics:
    • If mag has <50 rounds → full refill.
    • If >50 rounds → only +50.
Reward: Points for resupplying (but no spam).

(“Because running out of bullets mid-spray is just sad.”)

3. Sniper – Scout, Not Just a Camper

Problem: Snipers contribute little to the team.
Proposal:

  • Add a temporary respawn point (BATTLEFIELD style).
    • 1-2 spawns, then it breaks.
      Restrictions:
    • Only allies can spawn on it (not the sniper themselves).
    • Snipers can’t respawn on their own point.
This encourages scouting, not just passive play.

Bonus Idea (by @ChaosCrash13):

  • Let guerilla’s (partisans), paratroopers (no crate), and bikers (no bike) spawn on it.
(“Now even the ‘forgotten’ classes get some love!”)

4. Motorcycles & Armored Cars – Mobile Supply Hubs

Problem: They only refill ammo—let them restock meds too!
Proposal:

  • Allow them to resupply nearby soldiers (ammo and meds).
  • Especially useful for APCs—turning them into rolling support stations.

What Do You Think ?

  • Which ideas do you like?
  • Any balance suggestions of your own?
  • Let’s make the game deeper and more fun together!

Drop your thoughts below!

I’m not sure what do you mean here but overall I agree that medics should get a revive ability, even at the cost of loosing access to SMGs and ARs.

Though I’d make this a bit differently and limit number of uses instead of a cool down. (I made a post about this myself.)

You can already get infinite ammo from your bots. Imo that’s enough, no need for redundant ability. Just make bots stupid instead of brainless so they survive long enough to be actually useful (Reeeeee AI OP!!!1!!!1!)

Personally I’d prefer some kind of a suppression mechanic (even a very weak one) for crowd control. But I guess that’s not enough run&gun for most ppl.

Temporary spawn point is straight up useless. You can just use engineer and build a normal one. No need to make “like X but worse”.

I’d prefer some kind of a spotting mechanic (with extra exp rewards for assists of course). Feels much more useful than a redundant ability and fits the class well.

i like most ideas and gadgets that incentivize teamplay.

especially love the ammo support.

but kinda opposed on the reviving.
if anything, should apply to others squads as well. not just one of your own teammate.

and at the same time… despite being a medic enjoyer and avid user, not sure one would be enough.
( can’t wait for the bugs and ages to fix and stabilize properly such system of allowing the deads coming back to life… )

but maybe it’s me.
like, medics imo are somewhat fine as they are, with the exception of no ability to refil syringes.
which i always run out of despite having perks and what not. but being able to revive walks a thin line of the even more arcady territory.

but eh…

I just agree for the medic because the rest is more breaking the game because it normal MG need to rely on engeneer to have access to their heavy mg

But when you’re the last one in your squad with nobody to resupply, this just gives you a bit more personal interaction and some extra points when you drop an ammo pouch. Honestly, I hate building stuff in this game - it takes forever. This way you just toss a pouch on the ground like a medic bag.

Suppression fire from MGs would be nice too.

At least this would give those useless guys SOME purpose. Sure, most won’t bother doing it anyway. But in-game, there’s often not enough rally points to push forward - especially when I’m the only one building them

There’s only 5 of them. They’re stuck at level 1 with worse skills - barely equal to 1-2 Assaulters. They’re only viable at BR 1.

At higher BRs? Completely useless. You’re better off taking an Assaulter squad with SMGs - 4 troops + MG + Engineer + AT. Now it’s 7 vs 5.

i dont think reviving dead players would work in this game, Enlisted is very fast paced and it is not other games like Squad or HLL

If medics could instantly stab people with a syringe to heal them instead of playing the bandaging animation, that would make them much better without significantly changing any existing mechanics

actually, yeah the squad composition needs a rework.

all things we have been over.

made also it’s own thread:

didn’t appeal to gun run people though. ( obviously ).

additionally, medic squads should have engineers and those engineers should be able to build medkit supply boxes

Yes, that’s something that should definitely be addressed.

Um, Battlefield series?

I don’t play AAA slop so I’m unfamiliar with it

Then you should widen your horizon

I guess? I still prefer to make AI useful, the whole game will benefit.

I prefer to give them something useful (or at least unique) rather than to give them whatever.

Also no, it won’t make ppl build more rallies. The only thing ever that drastically increased the number of rallies was event task (your rally was used X times). So ppl don’t build them because they don’t want to, not because they can’t/don’t know how.

Clearly very heavily BF inspired here, not that its a bad thing per say.

Though what I would say for the Medics and MG gunners at least, those seem more gimmicky or counterintuitive to other systems.

For Medics I would inside offer that they be able to, like in BF, run around and revive most* corpses, assuming the leader of that squad they came from is still alive.

*I would set the conditions of none killed via headshot and none killed via fire. If you wanted to limit it more, you could add either bleed out timers to corpses that qualify for revival, or maybe only say a 50% (going up to 90%, via perks) chance of them qualifying for revival. Or maybe favour those soldiers which get killed via a one shot, which would encourage more accurate shooting as well.

For MG Gunners, I would argue against this purely because it discourages you from bringing an engineer for some reason, when its far easier to just build an ammo dump + HMG plus far better for your team. If you do want this, I would instead allow an upgrade for the squad to allow squad members to drop a 1 use ammo box**, carried in their backpack slot. This would simulate an assistant gunner/ammo bearer.

** you could even here just add it as a new item for all squads, where its best used in combo with another soldier using either two weapons or ammo pouches. I think the squad upgrade would work very well with the AT squads too.

Im not against snipers getting those, though I would wonder why you wouldnt just bring an engineer as is and build a rally, honestly just allow yourself to order your AI engineer to build a rally where your standing and that would work just as good.

As for Riders being useful, hell yeah, I never got why they never could do both, I miss the old upgrades for bikes in H&G where you could have panzerfaust boxes on bikes. Maybe allow this but at the cost of the 3rd squad member, so you either get a 3 man squad or a 2 man tank hunter team.

I tried Battlefield 5, I just don’t play it because Japan issuing STG44s to their all female battalions was a little absurd for even my taste

This has nothing to do with medics.

tbf pre BFV, it wasnt jsut slop, BF1 is a masterpiece and is literally 2-5 euro when its on sale on steam, with all dlc included. Like dont get me wrong, Im a milsim kinda guy, but BF1 is peak run and gun FPS, its the game that almost killed COD off entirely, only for DICE to throw completely and kill themselves. Though BF4 I love, is certainly best enjoyed with rose tinted glasses.

Though just on healing with medics, you should do it more, its worth more than a kill to heal 1 guy, and takes less than half a second. Refilling syringes is more the issue.

As far as I remember, BF series never had faction specific weapons. And players from both teams could use any weapon.

But I never played the super old ones.

only if you played on certain servers, or you were autistic enough like me to make a bunch of presets depending on what side you were playing, which I do recommend as its far more interesting/fun to try all the different guns.
