Back in the lovely days of the CBT (which feel like a year ago already), we got a single order (maybe two if you were on a roll!) for every match we played. It was a simple system that meant you got a trooper or equipment card every 3k XP. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. You had a full reserve, enough gear, and you could generally have a good time on all the campaigns.
Then came the word of the new progression system, and we were all throbbing with anticipation. A new system? Oh boy!
Open Beta came around and the new system seemed good! We got silver orders for the first few tasks we did, and the first wave of achievements were easily obtained. It looked like everything was properly balanced and would remain fun for the entire duration. But then, a few days passed and everyone noticed something was off. They weren’t getting their silver orders anymore, and everything seemed to slow to a crawl. Their campaign level increased, but where they usually would have a reserve full of soldiers, they now have scraps of… something. But why am I rambling about this?
Because I’d really like to have a card for every 3k XP earned again. The current system is absolutely broken and demands more time and dedication while giving you less in return. Why should I fight 6 matches for ONE BRONZE card? It should be a Silver!
So, here’s my suggestion.
- Give a bronze equipment or troop order every 3k XP, like the old system did.
- Make single-match tasks (kill 30 enemies with a bolt-action, finish a battle in the top 40%, etc.) worth a bronze order.
- Make multi-match tasks (win 6 battles as x faction in y campaign, kill 65 enemies with , etc.) worth a silver order.
This way, you’ll keep players a lot more engaged and less likely to ragequit because they can’t get anything.
