The reason why tank destoryer in this game are trash

There is almost no need for tank destroyers in the current game, as they are not superior to most medium tanks in many aspects, and are extremely lacking in anti-infantry firepower, which makes them useless in a game that promotes infantry killing.
In reality, these tanks have good cost-effectiveness, but in this game, it doesn’t matter. And these vehicles cannot be unlocked until the mid-to-late game, it is almost impossible to find one on the battlefield.

The tank destroyer currently in the game (not premium):

Panzer IV/70(V) (5x scope)
Best tank destroyer in my opinion, good armor, good guns, but other german cats are better.

Jagdpanzer IV (5x scope)
Works like a weaker Panzer IV/70(V), but strong enough to fight Soviet tanks.

Panzer IV/70(A) (5x scope)
Panzer IV/70(V) but But Pz.IV’s armor,no reason to use.

StuG III F (5x scope)
Same gun as Pz.IV F2, no MG.

SU-85M (3.5x scope)
Use Lv.1 T34’s gun.But has worse optics (T34 use 4.0x scope). no MG.

75/32 M41 (3.5x scope)
Decent armor, APHE only, no MG.

M10 GMC (3.5x scope)
The first tank that can use 76mm M1,Slower than M4A2,open top,M2.50 roof MG, Unable to use binoculars.

M18 GMC (3.5x scope)
High speed,open top,M2.50 roof MG, Unable to use binoculars.

It can be seen that, except for German products, other tank destroyers only have 3.5x optics, which makes them not very good at sniping or anti-gray zone camping (especially M10 and M18 do not have binoculars), and their guns are not superior to other tanks unlocked earlier (the M10 is the only exception).

In order to deal with these difficulties, I came up with several solutions to make players willing to use these vehicles:

  • Assign it to a lower BR after merging.

  • Limit a tank slot to light tanks and tank destroyers, just like the fighter slot.

  • Add a spawn point system and make them have low cost.

  • Add more large-caliber tank destroyers, such as M36, ISU 152 and Jagdtiger

not really gonna comment on the first part as i disagree with the premise of the question.

agree to disagree. no harm done there, but:

you’re effectively gonna make germany and quite possibly, the soviets strong from the first brs.
( especially if you count the premiums )
but even tank destroyers such as the jagdpanzer IV, SU-85 75/32 and few others powerfull from the get go.

as it would be hard to pen them with actual tanks.

eh… this would incentivize gray area camping as tanks ( actual tanks ) camp because somewhat harder to obtain and most of the people want to make the best of it out of it.

something that can one tap you across the map sitting in his spawn.

as much i don’t personally get affected too much by those, i’d recon could be un fun to deal with for the rest of the playerbase.

perhaps as premium… but not in the main line up.

those should be rare too.

Could that thing even be countered by anything other than big plane bombs and valiant AT guys? As much as I’d like seeing that, it’s one of the things without real counter, unless you add post war vehicles into the fray like in WT. Definition of overkill.

(I’d like the ISU152 for laughs thought. Shoots nukes, but can still be penned by other tanks)

Once the merge come and tank destroyer can be used in open space campaign like tunisia and moscow they become more useful, because with more open map they can flank and are not forced in a 1vs1 head one, and their BR gonna be low-med so they dont fight tank who cant be killed by them

One of irl advantages of SPGs in general is big gun on a smaller (cheaper) chassie.
But in this game cost is not taken into account so it’s logical to take big gun on a big chassie as it has almost no downsides.

And in terms of US tanks that they were made for hit and run tactics but that also doesnt play off if your maps are mostly small and a WW1 parody and also if you nerf tank speed anyway.

on the unlock table you can see that tank destroyers like stug F will now unlock before their tank counterpart pz IV F2

It can be only rapresented if the tanker (same pilot) squad can use all the tank they have in the garage in battle but they can spawn them using point earned in battle using infantry

But tommy want force it even on infantry who with enlisted fast paced gameplay would eliminate From the match half of the player in less than 40s for lack of point for respawn

Then spawn something else than fully equipped 9 man FG42 squad.
Unless you want to convince me 4 man squad with shit rifles has equal chances.

This example is useless because of the merge, 9 man fg42 would face angry rusky with 9 man avt40, 4 man with shitty rifle would face 4 man with shitty rifles so is useless using spawn score on equipment if there is no equipment imbalance it make only lowering the avarage match time from 10m to 3m

This instead can still be applied withaut harm because it dont change infantry gameplay but improve veichle one

Overthrow the BR. It only creates local metas in place of the global meta. The lesser evil is still evil.
I believe spawn score system is in every way superior to BR.

But I guess it will never happen, devs have too much to to loose potentially. I hope at least customs will have such option so Tommy can do his stuff.

agreed on 70V . its one of the best tank destroyers. but… jagdpanther.

both beyond amazing at doing their job.

it does use a pz4 gun. if user dont get shot, a pz4 if we keep on this argument is good enough to fight soviet tanks.

then this would be good according to argument above. because even better gun. (panther gun if i recall correctly (?)

and to a point, all of them are. if, no one shots back… but since 1563% of the time a good tank hunter will position itself on a place he will always shot first. so gun and or working MG is a valid point for me to consider

I am hoping with merge to get some use out of them on more spacious maps. Even if not I will enjoy them in the Big Action mod

If they ever give the shovel terrain flattening I wouldnt mind trying to dig a stug into hull down lol :stuck_out_tongue:
