The reason people aren't marking when on Playstation?

I’ve seen numerous times that people are saying they are actually incapable of marking when playing on Playstation. (I play on Xbox.) However, I was talking with a guy last night that plays with his buddy via crossplay that is on PS.
The guy on Playstation was marking just fine!!

My question is what is stopping so many Playstation players from marking?

  • Is it a control scheme issue?
  • Does the default button setup not include a ping option?
  • Did all these players just take the option out and never realize it?
  • Like what is going on, because I have PC crossplay turned off so its only console players. When I get in with Playstation players, they never seem to mark anything.

I’m just trying to get to the bottom of it, so I can make a better suggestion regarding marking.

there has been an update 6 month ago which disabled the original mapping for marking.it was L2+up. i m a user of the forum so i saw it quickly and did the mapping myself. but maybe new users don’t know about it and the mapping is disabled.but i remember that i was unable to mark during 3 days or more.

I mark everything (known tank spawns, tanks, direction of suspected enemy spawn points)

However, sometimes i forget

Nowadays in default button setup on Playstation, marking is bonded to pressing R1.

yes you re right,it changed with the update introducing binoculars. i remember at this time that lot of ps people asked on forums why they couldnt mark anymore. yet it is r1 by default and it isnt good mapping.
