The prodigal son returns | Overall very happy with the new changes, except the P2W disaster called Stalingrad

Less than 2 months ago, I’ve decided to forgive the devs for what they did to my account last year and I also started playing Enlisted again. The latest changes made to the game helped, mainly the ability to earn silver orders from battle XP. That was a really big step towards the light and I want to thank the devs for it.

When I came back and saw that a new campaign has been released (Stalingrad), I thought that it’s still in closed beta and that the STANDARD SQUADS/WEAPONS THAT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FREE are now being locked behind a paywall was just a closed beta thing, so I bought the damned bundle, because, overall, it’s not a bad deal at all, except the stuff I mentioned above. Now that I realised it’s not just a closed beta thing, I feel guilty for feeding this new system and personally, I won’t play that campaign any more. If changes won’t be made and the Pacific campaign will be the same, then again, personally, I won’t touch it even with a ten foot pole. Just to be clear, I don’t have anything against the progression bonus and stuff like that, I’m only alarmed about the squads and weapons that have always been free now being locked behind a paywall. That’s a big NO-NO.

Why not keep all the other bonuses and simply remove the standard squads and weapons from that list? People would still buy it and everyone would be happy and sleep tight at night knowing that the game won’t turn into a cash grab. It’s totally doable and it doesn’t present any risk from a legal aspect, so the only question remaining is if you want to do it or not.

I don’t want to appear ungrateful, I know that you guys did a lot of good work and Enlisted is free, but Stalingrad changed the status of this game from pay to progress to pay to win, and this goes against the very foundation it was built on.

Also, as a side note, if you guys decide to remove the standard squads and weapons from the list, you can implement the same system in all the other campaigns (including previous campaigns), which would you bring you even more money.

Peace out and thank you again for all your hard work!

Wait for guadalcanal

Back in the day, and not that long ago, there was no such thing as free to play since as you can imagine most companies had to pay their developers in actual money as opposed to emojis and whatever else fuels ppls feelings these days.
The fact that any developer has aspects of the game released for free to the general fan base is a nice/interesting way of marketing, but the last thing anyone should be claiming in some bizzare form of entitlement is what a company should or shouldn’t make its customers pay for, and then disparage those that make choices to pay for said content as Pay to Win…

You want to play for free, you can do that. If you don’t want to pay for the premium content then don’t but don’t disparage the company for monetising its product, because its developers are not on welfare and need to be paid for the content they produce.

I think you didn’t read what I wrote. I bought the bundle and paid my share, but that doesn’t mean I can’t say my piece, which to me, sounds pretty reasonable. That’s why we have a forum, right? To discuss things related to this game, hence why I put it in the “Suggestions” category.

No problem, I read what you wrote, but it did not come across that way. Thanks for clarifying

Well, english is not my native language and I don’t know a lot of synonyms for the words I wanted to use, so I understand your point aswell. Have a good day!

That makes two of us, English isn’t my native language either.

I see your points, but (as a bundle buyer as well) I have to say that never did I feel the NEED to get the paywalled content to win.

In case you missed it out due to your absence, Stalingrad also has “experimental” unique rules for weapons. Bolt action rifles’ damage is noticeably buffed (at short range they OHK almost always) and automatic weapons recoil is increased (maybe too much, as MGs are almost uncontrollable and bipods almost never work, to the point that hardly anyone uses gunners).

depends how far you go. Theres plenty of succesful f2p games in past ~20years.

Regardless from what perspective you look at it paying customer / f2p perspective the P2W aint exactly a rational road to continue with.

OP is a good example, ofc we cant decide where the game goes.
But we sure can decide will we spend our time on it or not.

Most if not all successful F2P games have excellent monetisation, but they have increasingly been tarred with the P2W brush, which is in my opinion uncalled for and entitled.
At the end of the day the game industry is a business that depends on turnover, and the F2P paradigm is a cheap way to attract volume, which hopefully can be enticed via some sort of incentivisation to pay for the game or content…

valorant, halo, fortnite which probably all are in top10 of most played games has no p2w content.

There are numerous of otherways to do busines than go for p2w.
If they choose the P2W path fine, quite many players just chooses to not play the game.
judging from past topics of lack of players / bot filled games I highly doubt the loss of players by going to P2W is good option.

Except that P2W is very subjective.

well, no its not.

How the stalingrad was planned to start, giving only mediocre at the best tools for f2p players is rather good example of p2w content.

How free ppsh for german and soviet can be mediocre, if you mean german f2p cant spam mkb withaut sniper squad i see this more an automatic weapon belancment more than a p2w matter

:ok_hand: :ok_hand:

Meant this one, the early plans. If I recall there was even more restricted plan before this one locking all vehicles from f2p players.

The original plans also involved MKB available for troopers…

I know the definition, I just think your interpretation of what it means for Enlisted is biased.

I don’t have a problem with better content being locked behind a paywall they way you seem to do. That’s the problem with this social media driven entitlement. You should be happy enough just to be able to enjoy the game content for free, but instead you demand the same “advantages” as players who are prepared to monetise the game.
I much prefer the old term - pay to play (P2P) which used to apply to these games, as with all things that are F2P, there is ever a growing sense of entitlement to content irrespective of the context.

If a game has content that affects the gameplay locked behind a paywall and you can’t unlock that content (or similar one, in the case of premium squads; they’re an exception, since they’re close or even worse than standard squads) just by playing, then said game is P2W, is as simple as that and always has been. Just because it’s a F2P game doesn’t mean that it should be P2W. Take a look at CS:GO. It’s F2P, has MILLIONS of players and there isn’t even a single P2W element in it, yet they made at least one BILLION off it just by selling cosmetic stuff. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
