The next MG42 variant

Enlisted is still far away from depicting the MG42 in a historically accurate way, opening the path for the addition of new versions.

I suggest a tech tree version with 150 rounds, 1200 fire rate (stronger than the current version) and a slower reload, higher walking penalty (walking speed of 40%) a minimally slower aiming speed.

This layout depicts the historically accurate fire rate most commonly used for infantry (mg42 fire rates could be changed from 1200 to 1800 by replacing the bolt with lighter/heavier bolts) & a more realistic ammo size (still smaller than irl, but an OK game balance compromise), the nerfs relative to the current mg42-100 minimize power creep and make this mg42 version a slower but tactically superior variant; perfect for making the game less arcady and more realistic.

As a bonus here the real life sounds of mg34, mg42, mp40:

A great weapon for br6

to hell. I agree. Let the game get even worse, I don’t mind.

A 150 round belt means 150/0 default ammo reserve, just like the LAD has (which has significantly lower dmg/dps - point for anyone thinking this weapon would deserve 150/150 default ammo reserve).

It would be pretty trash just thanks to this very simple fact.

But I guess as gimmick event reward for HA larpers, why not.

Terrible powercreep idea.
Devs should just change weapon upgrade system, instead of adding 10% fire rate for no reason, the upgrade should let the player adjust the fire rate within historical values.

id rather see an mg45 with a 100rnd belt

great at br5

I wish we had a heating system, barrel change and it was harder to hit targets with a heavy MG standing up and of course a variant of the MG 42 or MG34 with 250 rounds to rival the Stinger

RD-44 has zero dispersion penalty while moving, so its essentially a 100 round AR rather than a machine gun.

it also does 9.9 damage to 13.3 on the mg42
so what crank up damage and dispersion
but my point also remains a 150 round magazine does not belong in br5
50 percent of gun on gun related deaths occur while reloading dont fact check that
so an increased reload time would not happen because a 150 mag gun cannot be allowed to have 300 rounds

the only two guns that dont meet the criteria are Soviet LAD and US Stinger

lad is bp and stinger is event
if you want to make the mg42 150 an event or premium it could be br5 but as tech tree its br6
unless us and ussr get a 150 round tech tree mg

interesting change of heart

yes the stinger is supposed to be 100 rounds
and i am talking about tech tree, we all know even and premiums dont follow the same rule
but they cant nerf the stinger without compensation

i agree with 1200 rpm, but i disagree with 150 rounds belt. game doesnt need high capacity run and gun MG(#fFixStinger).

The alternative mg42 100 or mg 81 will be added to other countries first, and then the axis will get a new machine gun (the axis has so few machine guns).

so its 2 hits to kill vs 2 hits to kill

Increase the movement penalty drastically / optional reload suggested many times before aka you can move with the ~50 - 75 drum but stationary can switch to ~150 belt or even 500 for all I care.

Majority of lmg’s are absolute lack lusters due to fact that they cant do what they are supposed to do, sustained fire.

Outside of the engi buildable lmg’s they are relatively useless. Sure, they do kill and you can easily kill with them but the recoil, dispersion and the massive movement penalty does make them by far worse option compared to assaulter squad or 9 FG42 squad at high BR.

Obviously, M2 stinger being exception but it can relatively well do what lmg is supposed to do go brrrr for quite long time.

what you talking about is not a lmg, it a stationary gun. a bren/bar/zb26 are lmg box or drum fed are not lmg there mmg to hmg l/m/hh mg are not just categorized by caliber but weight and ability to sustain fire. a lmg or squad automatic weapon is meant for short suppressive fire between a stationary gun and individual rifle of a soldier. a medium or heavy mg is meant to only be used prone on a bipod or stationary tripod. a lmg is meant to be hip or shoulder fired and fed from magazines or boxes 50 rounds or under.
