The strength of these two weapons is very good in itself. Even if they are used as weapons for ordinary squads, some people will still buy them. As weapons for paratroopers, they are a bit too powerful. Make the FG-42s, which was born for paratroopers, a joke
It is even worse. The shield should have been useless against a lot of guns. Yet It has a whopping 20 hp lol
Well, paratroopers are slowly transforming into gimmick class.
OP weapons will not really help them.
Well, I’ve played few games with this squad. And as far as I know, I was never hit to shield. Or at least not in significant amount, as I have never managed it to be destroyed.
From my experience, shield really isn’t that relevant. (It could be potentially good while in prone and bipoded, but I haven’t try that tho)
I understand that it is difficult to hit, but u gotta say it looks very very goofy and dumb….
I believe Paratroopers should have weapons that were meant for Paratroopers.
If they wanted to have a Paratrooper MG squad they could’ve just gave them the Type 99 LMG Para variant.
My crazy dream is that they would overhaul this squad to have said weapon, then maybe make the Type Hei a research, gold order, event item, or premium or event MG squad. I say change it because I have a feeling they would do a 180 and make a regular MG squad have the Type 99 like that Medic squad with the Type 100. Seriously imagine they release the Type 99 LMG Para, a niche variant but hey content is content, but made it a regular ground MG squad!
………or at least one day add a Paratrooper squad with the Type 99 LMG
I’ve had quite a few of mine blown off, so it’s saved me few times already. But as you’ve pointed out, OP weapons can only do so much for what is basically a meme class now that gets countered pretty hard by anyone paying attention.
Paras are “easy” because a lot of morons just drop above CPs which usually goes as well as it sounds.
Yea why do people always para drop directly on the point instead of ambushing enemy that are hard to reach
Yeah. I wished we could have gotten a free BR V paratrooper squad for the Japanese instead. But having tried out the Type Hei LMG squad in the practice range I don’t really like it. For the simple fact that the armour shield is blocking half of my screen thus blocking my visibility. Plus they get less ammo 30/60 than the ones equipped with a large ammo pouch 30/90. However, the fact that the shield can help you survive a bolt action rifle hit coupled with vitality is pure bonkers.
Who could have thought that you would buy the most overpowered squad in the games history right away.
Way to go Adamn, keep supporting the devs with P2W squads, nice way to ruin the game.
If a shield covers almost half your torsos hitzone - while having almost double the HP of your actual soldier - then it is obviously more likely that you die before your shield dies.
You don’t know what “counters” mean.
Maybe DF will give that para lmg as event I guess? If so then I think it a good price to pay
Not necessarily most people think that parachutes have an effect on how much you can carry that’s partly right but is it enough to stop German paratroopers to equip themselves with ~4 KG MP-40 and only drop with pistol ? No the main factor is at what height you drop Germans dropped from 60 to 100 M which is just enough for parachute to open and have a land any increase in weight when jumping that low would cause serious problem while Americans and British Paras dropped at 150m to 300 m and soviets dropped at 300m to 500m (Their Parachute was manual so they needed more time ) and that’s the reason why most Allies Para can carry heavier weapon but 1thing this is a game so doesn’t need to follow these shenanigans and second all planes drop paratroopers at 500 meters above ground which is enough to counter weight of a lot of heavy stuff )(The closer you drop you need to be lighter in order for parachute to slow you down faster otherwise you might as well be pancake)
Anyhow laughs in Para PKM
I see you as a whale keep defending most p2w squad out there ofc bought it instantly. Yeah you totally not noticed when people were shooting at you and wasting bullets i totally believe you.
Do you really not see a problem with a shield that has 20HP, a gun that is over 10kg and don’t slow you down.
You can also stack this shit with +35% vitality perk to turn into Uber soldiers that has 14.7HP and 20HP shield, congrats you now have potentially effective HP of 34.7 and you can tank two bolt rifle shots.
Came from someone who definitely haven’t played the squad. And has only disillusioned imaginations about it.
-
I am not defending the squad, I think it should be BR5 since first moment.
-
the weapon itself isn’t heavy. What makes it heavy is the shield.
If you want to apply logic here, movement penalty should be nullified once the shield is destroyed. -
it’s truly rare for someone to actually hit that shield, it’s overrated gimmick
-
base vitality perk is nothing uncommon for paras.
-
I’ve suggested its ammo count to be reduced to only 30/30, way more impactful nerf than some pathetic movement penalty (movement penalty really isn’t relevant downside for paratroopers. Meanwhile the ammo capacity nerf is, as paratroopers cannot have big ammo bags. And there’s quite high chance your AI engineer will not survive the drop/you have to wait for your AI soldiers to drop and just then pick the preset from para box)
- it’s unnecessary to be so hysterical.
The real solution would be to change the shield into a 10% damage reduction that doesn’t break and giving it slightly more recoil and dispersion than the standard version and then putting it into BR5.
That would be “okay”.
The real solution would be to change the shield into a 10% damage reduction that doesn’t break
I think it would be a shame and missed opportunity to change the destructibility. It’s really interesting that you can actually destroy its shield. I like how interactive it is.
That’s why I proposed to even more support this interactivity:
The weapon by itself isn’t even heavy. What makes it heavy is the shield. And since the shield can be destroyed, should the suggested movement penalty be nullified once the shield is lost?
If necessary, the dmg needed for shield destruction could be lowered. But I think this idea should be kept. It’s really unique.
Technically speaking is it a cool mechanic, but the devs simply need to finally add negative traits when they experiment with survivability mechanics.
Now NOT Technically speaking it is a ridiculous mechanic, there is a reason why no sane person would use this type of shield on a gun.
So for me it pretty much destroys immersion completely because it is as unrealistic as it gets.
If I remember correctly BF1 had a similar shield for the sniper class - which however was a deployable piece of cover, not literally something attached to a gun… the only game I can think of is rainbow six siege where they had a similar mechanic, and that shield was for most of its existence the most overpowered tool in the game.
No one needs such mechanic, it adds nothing to the game.
