Paratrooper Weapons for Paratrooper Squads

Paratroopers generally used the same weapons as regular infantry but there was effort among all factions to produce special equipment specifically for their paratroopers.

Paratroopers were an exciting addition to this game not too long ago. Almost all Paratrooper squads have been Premium or Event squads with unique weapons. Most of these squads actually have weapons that were specifically used by or designed for paratroopers. I think it would be perfect if future Paratrooper squads have weapons that were specifically designed for paratroopers as their unique primary weapons. We have paratroopers as a playable class, there are many weapons that were specifically made for paratroopers; its only fitting. It would be a crime to not give Paratrooper squads paratrooper weapons

Note that I’m not saying that all future Premium/event Paratrooper squads should only have paratrooper specific weapons or that we can’t have special squads with non-paratrooper weapons; just that these would be extremely fitting Paratrooper squads with fitting weapons.

Obligatory I definitely think all factions should have free Research Tree Paratroopers that we can customize however we want. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t have more premium/ event paratroopers with unique weapons

Note that there probably are more weapons out there that were designed and intended for paratroopers. I certainly can’t find and list them all. (Those should be given to paratroopers as well )

US and UK
M1A3 Carbine, the intended replacement of the M1A1 carbine with an underfolding stock

T26 Garand, another experiental Garand carbine designed for paratroopers and was originally intended to be mass produced for the final invasion of Japan but the war ended, after the war they received the nickname of “tanker garands”

Sten Mk V, ultimate evolution of the crude STEN first used by paras in Operation Overlord

Patchett Machine Carbine, designed to replace the Sten, eventually would develop into the post war Sterling, prototype models first used by paratroopers during Operation Market Garden

Lee-Enfield No. V Mk 1, carbine developed in Britain for use in jungle warfare but was used by paratroopers in Europe, it got its famous “jungle carbine” nickname AFTER WW2 for its service in post war Asia

USSR
Gorov LMG Paratrooper, paratrooper variant of experimental lmg, the original Gorov was added as gold order not too long ago

Germany
Kar98k Fallschirmjager, experimental take-down variant designed for paratroopers similar to Japanese TERA rifles

image
Gewehr 33/40 Folding Stock, experimental folding stock variant of the Czech rifle for paratroopers
image
FG 42 10 Round Magazine, 10 round magazines were also an option for all models of FG 42
image
FG 42 Kurz, experimental model using the 8x33mm Kurz round used by Stgs

Japan
Type 99 LMG Paratrooper, para variant with a detachable stock and folding grip

Type 1 TERA Rifle, experimental paratrooper carbine of the Type 38 rifle
image
Type 2 TERA Rifle, the standard issue para rifle based on the Type 99 rifle

A long time ago a Premium American and Japanese Medic squad was added that had paratrooper smgs, the M55 Reising and the Type 100 Para. As I said I think it would be perfect if Paratrooper squads had fitting weapons, so I think these two weapons should be reimplemented as brand new Paratrooper squads. I mean cmon Medic squads, paratrooper guns, CMON! They could be Event content or even as a free gift

The idea of it is great, but its just a very risky step to make considered that guns like the FG42 have been a basic endgame rifle for all troops since beta.

Changing such games would not only drastically change metas - it would require a massive overhaul to begin with.

Great post, I agree with everything except, the “tanker” Garand was NOT ever a military weapon. That is a commercial market M1 modification that took place. There were NO issues or used “short” garands.

The sterling Mk1 was developed during ww2 but was not used until after the war.

The Sten Mk2/3/5 were used through the war. After ww2 the stem was still used by UK forces.

The Jungle Carbine was used by filipino troops across south east Asia, it was lightened up to help produce the amount of water retention on the gun because of the extensive humidity that would cause swelling with the hand guard, and that would point of aim and point of impact shifts.
The Paras did use some but the Sten guns and BREN MGs were primarily used because they could be taken apart (stock off the sten and barrel of of Bren)
(Many other reasons too for it)

Other than that I agree with your post. :sunglasses::+1:

The Sten MkV should be in the research tree, not behind an event or paywall.

I’m not saying to remove the FG 42 from research. It is what it is. What’s done is done.

These are just ideas for new premium/event Para squads with unique weapons

There were experimental Garand carbines made near the end of the war. I never said that they were issued or saw combat. It’s no different than all the other experimental weapons in game.

There is evidence that the Patchett was used by some British special forces during the war.

Mostly great ill admit but I don’t think they’ll do the M55 and Type 100 para due to already being a prem gun

But another issue is

No it didn’t https://www.reddit.com/r/ForgottenWeapons/s/Mk4xbC2koY it was a after war copy by the Swiss in the 50’s

On a FW video about the FG 42 Kurz he said that there were experimental models made by Germany during the war. After the war Sweden toyed with the idea as well

In the video he said in 1:38 that it was proposed but shot down but the model u used is not that

And later stated that they did converted some to take the shorten one and requested some to be built with that but non where made only living thing left is a memo which kinda sucks

8mm Kurz FG42 would be pretty cool tho, kinda like the G43 Kurz just not in burst mode.
