The new event in War Thunder took a lot of development effort from Darkflow studio (Official news from Telegram)

But hey look how much money Gaijin is saving by not hiring anyone long term  :moneybag: What a poor little indie company with only a hundreds of millions doolllas of yearly revenue.

The video itself was posted March 31st

Other clearly april fools stuff like Doge packs in WT was removed - this stayed.

Aka the infantry beta is likely real and coming to WT.

Explains why no new campaigns for Enlisted for 2 years BTW. Team obv pulled in part into WT.

Part of the team left for Active Matter

and rest got moved to Gaijin or left family completely as they did not wanted to move outside of Riga/got kicked out since outsourcing is cheaper

Thanks for the details

Explains the lack of progress post merge / difficulty rolling out updates.

I think we really need to see Enlisted roadmap for this year- considering there is serious talk of enlisted being folded into WT now. Clarity for f2p and paying customers is Key

WT’s core is very different from our core. WT is a free for all sandbox where you have all different countries and eras mashed together. While this game at least has the overarching narrative and timeline of a single specific war

My reaction can be summed up by, ā€œWhile Im not surprised, Im still disappointedā€

Like ffs, This was clearly so much better than the shit we got, hell why not just give us WW1 assets to use for this event, I know the modders would have loved it, the general playerbase would have loved it, we could have got some unique WW1 era weaponry that has been requested, would have been a perfect time to add the MG08. This is so fucking dumb on so many fucking levels. Christ almighty, which twat nugget thought this was the way to do this when they had a better option in fucking front of them. Whoever that mong is, deservers to be defenestrated.

I mean people who think Infantry dont fit in WT are short sighted at best.

Not to mention, Gaijin has clearly been trialling infantry in the game for many years now, going back to when we first say the fully modelled emplacements in WWM, and since then has been trying new variations of infantry blended with tanks, the mobile infantry event is a great example of that, that was a great test to see how infantry fare in an urban environment against modern tanks given sufficient AT weaponry.

And you know the trailer we got just before april fools, which clearly showed off modern day combat with infantry, with close ups highly implying there was going to be CQC combat for infantry. The WT event has been testing the AI with AT grenades too, decently well at that.

I would be very surprised if we dont see infantry added to WT within the next 3-4 years, espicially since there is no competitors on the market yet, WT kinda seems unkillable rn, unless gaijin kills it themselves.

WT is not suited for first-person military experience, of course. Models are not ready for close-ups, buildings are… well, empty at best and just bricks with texture at worst. But… If we talk about AI-squad infantry… Like, just decorative infantry for battles or AI-squads you can put into your BMP/BTR/Helicopter and then you can unload them on any location you want and tell them where to go… You know, like Enlisted’s squads :Š

So, I think, Enlisted as a testing ground for WarThunder troopers mechanic is logical…

Aye there was a reason I went with the 3-4 year estimate, But once the infantry mode is ready, stuff like modelling interiors of builds and etc wont take too long, I imagine they will do stuff similar to how arma does buildings, imagine if we got the ability to destroy buildings in Enlisted like you can on some maps in WT.

They already mentioned submarines like 3-4 times last year, they want to add multi-vehicle SPAA and they are testing infantry for at least 3 events I can remember (mobile infantry where we had exoskeleton guys, sturmtiger event with infantry, cannons and ability to use them, and now WW1 event with more decorative infantry but they are affecting the battle - they are holding the point from capturing)… So, I guess one day they will add even engineering vehicles without weapons lol, they already implemented Enlisted’s building mechanic into warthunder with construction of ammo boxes. Imagine Engineering vehicles that construct defences… Crazy…

For AI-squads you dont even need proper interriors and quality of environment textures. You wont see them from close enough, so, its more desireable for such a game, I think.

I remember when everyone was claiming this about ships.

It’s all the same over again.

Playable infantry is logical evolution for WT.

I love how destructions work in ā€œFront Edgeā€ strategy game. Pretty cool to look at buildings near the end of the match where buildings near more fierce battles are demolished, some buildings lack only one side of walls where enemy shells impacted mostly and such. So cool.

I agree about playeable infantry in general. But not first-person infantry. Because of textures, models and such. Just look at warthunder from close enough and you will cut your finger with those polygons!

Its not worth the efforts to upgrade all models to be suited for first-person shooter, BUT, since Enlisted has AI-squad system, its more logical to add this layer of infantry. Playing as a squad. Like, a little strategic layer on top of tank-FPS.

And yeah, WT naval is pretty dim. They should reject trying to make Naval first person shooter with realistic damage models. Cuz it wont ever work, World of Warships BARELY works just because they rejected damage models and they have rock/paper/scissors gameplay that is assisted by class-to-class damage multiplyers.

In WT they should reject realistic damage models or make a strategic gameplay as in old naval games. It worked then, it would work now…

At first they will be having new infantry mode on new set of maps (that’s why they stole Dark Flow team), and old ones will get remade to be able to be played by infantry.

i don’t know.

this can either feel like " look. DF helped to make the war thunder event ".

hence… why enlisted april fool was of rather questionable quality.

or… kinda to save their own face?

but… doesn’t really change much i suppose.

WT naval, as in its core mechanics work decently, the main issue is more the style of matches and map design. As well as balancing issues. I mean there is a reason enduring conflict is the most popular naval battles mode in it.

Personally as a ship game enjoyer, the realistic damage model is really really nice. Its cool to be able to knock out individual battlestations and etc, though I do really really wish you could control your own crew more, because I know for a lot of the dreadnoughts and battleships, Id like to tell the crews of the secondary and tertiary guns to move inside the ship and stay safe from HE shells which otherwise obliterate the decks of ships.

it makes it all the more worse really, they had the assets to make a WW1 event in enlisted, and just said ā€œno lmaoā€

This is also provided that it is Enlisted tries to adhere to ā€œhistoricismā€ and ā€œrealismā€ at least limited in the selection of certain characteristics of weapons, tanks and their conditional presence on this or that BR and in principle in the game, except for auto-rifles of course.

Well, with all this we eat some half-cheesy maximally comical event, when in War Thunder historical and quite the spirit of Enlisted event, which is not needed by War Thunder players, that is, they called it a failed event, boring and asked for their skibidi vroom-vroom machines back (which is the average event in War Thunder).

It shows how different our community is, but the developers out of us for some reason decided to scam 900 gold and made us play rotten Fortnite event. Once again.
