The new BRs system will also bring negatives for new players

While I do agree that new players won’t be stomped by 9-man FG-42 squads and flamethrowers right from the start,
the new BR system will still be detrimental to some of the new players’ game experience.

Let alone the fact that Enlisted is already one of the very few WW2 games that locks iconic WW2 weapons/vehicles behind hundreds of hours of play time (PPSh-41 or Thompson at levels ~30), at least new players can see others on their/enemy team use it, can pick it up, can see the Panthers and Tigers and IS-2s driving around.

With the new system. however, a new player will launch the game and won’t see any Tigers/PPSh-41s/Thompsons for weeks at least.

WT players might be used to this Stockholm syndrome of agreeing to grind for years and decades for that coveted Tiger/Abrams/T-90 just to play the same 3-capture-points conquest gamemode forever, but FPS players are less addicted in this regard and I can see this affecting player retention.

“I’ve been playing for a whole week and haven’t seen a single Tiger, this is BS, I’m outta here” – probably Jimmy, 2023.

I can definitely state with full confidence that I would not have remained with enlisted if this BR system was in place from the time I started playing

same reason why I didn’t like this system in warthunder and crossout, I played those games for a while, but no where near as long as I have played enlisted

and huge reasons for that are the diversity in gear and matches, which means all the weapons, vehicles were in all the matches and the campaigns which always gave us something new to work on after completing one, and it’s challenging starting again in a campaign, it’s really sad that’s gone

but the biggest thing for me if I was a new player now, would be what’s the point of unlocking a top tier vehicle or weapon if the game will split me into queue tiers when using that? What’s the point? There is no point in the new BR system

At least the way it’s been up until this point, there was a reward at the end of the grind, where we could actually use it against lower tiers and have fun…sure over time more people gained higher tier stuff and it became more common…but still won’t be as common as it’s going to be in the BR system, that is going to be straight up cancer at some BR tiers

you know where this system works perfectly? in WoWs. i imagine that i would stop playing that game if i went in t1 ship and someone one shots me with t10 yamato.

as a new player in enlisted I got one shotted many times by end game stuff when I was low level, and somehow kept playing and was ok to keep playing, because all the stuff we play with was from that ww2 era, it’s not like we are playing against modern day technology in a ww2 game, the gap in technology is tolerable, especially how they ninja tweak crap all the time anyway

There are many mods (“Trench Winter V3”) with an empty vehicles (Tigers, Calliopes, Fireflies) in teams bases. People can play mods if they want to look / use these tanks.

well all stuff wasnt from ww2 era. lots of stuff is ww1 or even pre ww1 and some stuff wasnt even in ww2 and there is even stuff from end of ww2 being available years before.

it is not when for some stuff you need to literary grind for hundreds of hours before it becomes available for you and you are constantly matched against it. idk how can you with straight face say that stuart vs tiger or pz2 vs t41, or t60 vs f2 is tolerable, when game forces you in frontal confrontation 95% of the time.

do you even know what player retention is? for every 1 player that stayed in this game, you probably have 9 other that left cause of large discrepancy in equipment that newbies vs veterans have. ffs no matter how bad WT BR system is, do you think it would be better if it allowed no BR MM? even if it was only with ww2 tanks?

Perhaps they should provide gamemode without BR, like PVE mode. AI won’t complain about imbalance.

… and?
I personally think this is a good thing. It forces players how to actually play the game, not just rely on extremely powerful equipment to counterbalance crap gameplay performance.

I’m honestly not fussed by some of those tiny meaningless things, it is all one era for me, it just adds to the flavor of the game to see them all in there from that entire era of war, if ww2 is too far for you, then that entire war era is well enough represented in the game. Or at least was, won’t be anymore because it’s all being split up into these funky tiers that make no sense

I think if they wanted realism regarding specific battlefields and theatres of war, they should have just gone for that, but definitely not like this

well it is, I managed and survived

I agree that more flanking and battle zone should be expanded into the game as more modes that we can select

but regarding the different tiers facing each other, that has always been part of the excitement, it always motivated me to one day be the guy to have that, and when I finally did, it felt awesome…not anymore in this rubbish BR system, unlocking a superior tier has no meaning anymore

well this new BR system is likely to lose me, so I don’t really care after I’m gone, but the game retained me just fine up until this point, so that says more to me than anything else…Also I would argue players left for other reasons beyond that, such as cramming everyone in a tiny battle area, so they spend most the match unable to actually play because they are being blown up because the battlefield is too tiny and concentrated for the amount of players and the gear being used and spawn camping

But as usual people point to something stupid like weapons now have to have tiers

it’s like the stupidity of nerfing mortars, they were never the issue, the issue has always been that objectives are tiny and fighting areas are tiny for the amount of players in the match

that issue won’t change with the BR system, neither will the quitters

Besides, if they put the infantry only mode and rifle only mode or did the BR as a side mode, then you could have retained those players, and I honestly doubt that kind of player would have been retained anyway, if they going to leave because they don’t want to grind, that is just because they don’t want to grind, they won’t want to grind the new BR system either, especially when there is no advantage to bother with it

and yes, I prefer playing in the current system, if it was optional, I wouldn’t go play the new BR system

would probably just dabble in it for the rifle only experience, but it doesn’t even provide an infantry only mode or a rifle only experience either come to think of it, so it’s actually not doing anything that would actually be interesting

Personally I don’t like future BR MM.
Mosytly because it will kill divercity and probably won’t be balanced either.

I’d much preffer spawnpoint system proposed all the time by me and @tommyZZM but this would require an overhaul to the progresion system to make it less grindy and we can’t have that.

Mmmh.

I’m on the fence about this.

  • On one side of the coin it’s true that storming the beaches while there’s 2 panthers on the hills is not a fun experience while having no mean to counter them, which is where the war thunder br system will come in handy.

  • On the other side of the coin, players won’t really learn good tactics or how to really counter dangerous situations because nothing they face will ever be stronger than them, boring. They’ll never know what it’s like to fear a big tank you see for the first time while under lvl 5, that REALLY requires you to learn to flank, cover, smoke, and ambush, instead of the generic zerg behavior this pampering br will promote (more than now.) I have fond memories of the fear I felt when a big t28 was on the battlefield in Moscow, blocking an entire assault. Had to use my brain to counter it with my lil underequipped soldiers. But it was thrilling.

So it’s good on some points but bad on others. New players will still get seal clubbed as usual by veterans or easy mode stacks, br won’t solve those issues.

Anyway.

quitting matches has always been the solution for the players that remained and was equally available to the players that quit and were too proud or never realized they could quit matches to find better scenarios where their team isn’t full of quitters or the opposing team is stacked

but now in the BR system when you quit a match to find a better match you going to have a harder time finding a better match

think of the player that constantly quits matches to play with his high level tank, in the old system there was a wide range of players in his queue so he had a better chance of finding the match where he can play his tank…but in the new system, he is going to find it harder because the BR limit puts all the players that want to play the same tank in the same queue, which will result in more players who want to play their tank having to quit more matches to find the match where they can finally play with their tank

and this will go for planes too

and this will become a new issue at each BR tier, but mostly at and above the middle tiers

and some these premium players that played for this reason and to enjoy having an edge, are likely going to go bye bye, if we talking about player retention and financial impact

You get a p38 at level 4 (which is fast and easy to unlock) which is sufficient to deal with any tank at any level in Normandy, so the issue isn’t the two tanks being there, the issue is the player and their team is incompetent at dealing with it

which is usually because either nobody is playing pilot, or they suck at it

or you just got unlucky and one team is stacked with all the better players and you are on the weak team, but as I have learned, just quit the match, and find a new one.

or you just don’t like that map playstyle, I know sometimes I don’t feel like playing that map, regardless of which side I am on

I’m just sad I’ll be cucked out of my ammo pouches and backpacks if I want to play bolt actions and basic SMGs
:sob: :sob: :sob:
Nothing can beat a PPD-34 or MP-40 with double ammo

Fuck I’d even queue both sides
I am here to HELP

You simply forgot that f2p guys only have 1 vehicle slot, and tank is often more useful and fun for new players…
