The game doesn`t feel rewarding

I am playing mostly Moscow, I like Tunisia but it is one-sided, and Pacific, which is just good, but I gave up trying levelling up past level 16. I am not in the game for high-end gear either, but you are bound to use same things for just too long, and good time just ends at the point you face the hopelessness of getting low numbers in high number universe, multiplied by eternity.

My most played campaign is Moscow and my first which I did mostly free to play (I say mostly because as a CBT I had the 4 man premium smg squad, which got benched so I could level other squads). Some of my most enjoyable vehicles that I still use even though fully unlocked exist before lvl 16 (are you level 16 Moscow or level 16 pacific?).

I recommend (all below lvl 16)

  • Prewar Kar98: solid rifle, very satisfying to use (use grenade launcher version if its not doing it for you)
  • Ju87: Pinpoint dive bomber, nice payload. One of the best methods for farming xp (until you get bf110 lvl 19)
  • MP 40: very nice sub machine gun to use, effective at range, no recoil (its no PPD but it is quite good)
  • ZBZ26: only has 20 rounds but hits hard, huge rate of fire, and pretty good control, nice hipfire. I still use this end game. Bots shred when equipped with thing
  • Panzer III E, really good and fun anti infantry because of dual coaxial machine guns. can tackle early Russian tanks.

I really enjoyed leveling Moscow, And this was back when weapons from store were random, soldiers where random, and you had to level soldiers and combine them together to get a better soldier. Its infinitely less complex now.

I am level 16 in Pacific, but I must admit that Type 99 at level 13 is underwhelming dut its comparatively low firerate, put much hope on it when I started playing the game. I mostly use the things you`ve mentioned, prewar Kar98 is good for its firerate and damage, and instead of ZBZ I use MG 13, feels better than Madsen and scopes are better than on ZBZ, and also I prefer MP 34 over MP 40, because of its lower firerate, spews away its mags quicker. From Soviets I like the T-26, cos its THE T-26, and PPD 33/41, both researched quite early in campaign, yes, but must say that I like Moscow Germany more,

So they went from gatcha to korean mmo then?)

I know what you mean, but the soviets seem more convenient. The winchester is probably my favorite gun in this game despite being a pain to get used to and the DT feels so satisfying to use. I also swear the IL is a better fighter than most fighters in the game. Especially when you bully some poor Ju.

God help me if I get any kills past 50m with either of those.
Beautiful weapons and great stats, but somehow both the regular k98 (and especially the gl variant) and mp38 feel much better. I keep using them despite ZH and beretta being available.

Really? I completely skipped this one.

Is that because perhaps you don’t like the iron sites? (I myself find something a little off about the grenade launcher Kar98, somehow it makes me over think my snap aiming) everyone’s got their own preference. once campaigns are combined ill probably swap to a mannlicher instead of kar98.

Yeah I really enjoy this one. Although the fact its top fed magazine might make it off putting (Peripheral vision when aiming). Bloody effective otherwise. You could say what’s the point when mg 34 has more in the magazine same damage and slightly faster rate of fire. Sometimes I find reloading faster is just preferable.

and yeah pretty much. They are continuously streamlining, making less RNG and grindy. Got to tell you its nice to just buy the weapon/equipment/soldier you want and not hope RNGesus gives it to you.

Could be a subjective sights thing. But take a look at Winchester sights and those on prewar k98 will look luxurious by comparison. The firerate and animation seem… off. I can somewhat abuse and partially cancel the aiming animation on say, enfield no. 4 and plant 7-8 out of 10 shots fairly reliably in fairly quick succession. Even on 200m. This thing? First shot is somewhat reliable but anything following is a worse show than trying to counter snipe someone with a no star type 38 carbine.

Yeah. I stopped playing for well over a year last time mostly because of the academy. The whole system felt about as satisfying as pulling my teeth out. Tier II+ soldiers costing a ton to fully upgrade is rather annoying, though.

It is SO good, might be the best bolt action in the game, equipped all of my guys with it and I dont even want to switch to semi-auto (like I even have those). But I think that even rocket biplane is better than IL-2, cos latter is a flying cowshed, Junkers can deliver more cas imo, especially when killing tanks with 250 kg bombs.

I mean the star count of the weapon/trooper you get is still random, as well as tropper`s stats, so, there is room for improvement) Not saying that it is bad I might add, upgrading your weapons and soldiers feels good, I wish there were more of that, like the event we have right now, not grindy, nice rewards, gold weapon order for free, this is what the game is supposed to be, in exp gain field also.

its already been announced that all that is going. Troopers will always have max stats, and stars abolished. It will be leveled up by playing the squad, not the trooper. (as I understand it)

Like I say, give it a chance. they do make strides

That sounds more like you’re thinking of Pe-2 since sturmovik in this game turns on a dime for some reason. And it has more rockets and bombs and autocannons compared to said biplane.

No doubt, but I suppose they favor different approaches. Stuka is dive from high altitude and delete anything below. Il-2 on the other hand can either do a concentrated pinpoint assault on a tank, where you start off with your cannons, potentially fishing the tank location, and when you see the damage indicator just pop a few rockets. They’re not HVARs but they’ll delete just about any tank in Moscow <300-400m. They you can do another pass with bombs. And potentially another just strafing an open objective with 20mm’s. Ideally, that’s a good 5-10 minutes of being a massive pain in the ass for the enemy.

And while doing that you can also, potentially, maintain air superiority if the enemy doesn’t have a capable fighter in the air. It’s much easier to bully bombers with an IL-2 then with a Ju that’s significantly slower, turns worse and only has basic small caliber MGs.

oh no you have it all wrong, i was killing tigers with the M8 HE round that literally blows them to bits if you aim correctly, i just brought the firefly sherman to spite the idiots who sit on top of the hills and think they can play their point and click game with allied troops on the beach.
